Do yall think it's doable? Time wise, I think it could work. Has anyone ever done it? Would I be crazy to attempt it? I would drive if it is done.

I would like to get to Platinum before our big trip next summer, and these two would in make schedule to help get me there before next summer

I just looked it up on Google Maps and at 9:30am this morning the estimated time for travel is 2.5 hours.  If you get off the Port Canaveral ship earlier then even better.  I feel like I read someone here on CC driving from one port to another for a side2side (kinda) but that might have been Miami to Port Canaveral which would be more scary time-wise.

Would I do the PC to JAX?  Yup!!

I did Port Canaveral to Miami. Hit a lot of issues and almost missed the ship. Muster was already done and I had to do makeup drill, that's how close I cut it.

I said never again.

I did Ft . Lauderdale to Canaveral and right out the gate ran into a problem (valet left my car in reverse and killed my battery). I thought oh no here we go again.

No further problems and I was to my next ship before boarding even begun.

Canaveral to Jacksonville? Would do it in a heartbeat. Traffic in Jacksonville will be ugly especially on a weekday but that should be cleared up by the time you reach Jacksonville.

Lots of little things could go wrong, but my situation that day was a huge series of bad luck that are not typical, and I still had enough time built in to make it, though just barely. I say go for it, totally doable just be aware there is a small chance of things going wrong.

@Jamman54 didn't you do this exact side to side a couple years ago? Or am I dreaming.

Yes, we did this back in 2017. We did a B2B on the Magic from Port Canaveral,  then drove up to catch the Elation in Jaxport. It took three and a half hours because we hit some traffic. We made it with plenty of time to spare. Get off the ship as early as you can,  hop in your car and go! 😎

After reading, it is doable, but reading comments now has me on the edge of my seat. Next option would be to try to catch a 6 day out of Orlando in April to May time frame. I hate they are pulling out of Charleston or I'd do do long weekends next year there before Alaska.

You could do Norfolk on Sunshine...

I did s2s ot of new orleans to Galveston. I'd already booked Galveston and couldnt be cancelled and my TA threw a party kit of new orleans carnival ship. I ran into a horrible storm so bad I couldn't drive up to speed it blew my car so bad sideways.

I too said never again s2s out of 2 ports. ..but I'm guilty of this too ...and booking the day of a cruise so last  minute and the paperwork took so long I almost missed the ship, I was driving down to Galveston from dallas.

Now I only play it safe.

It is definitely doable. I drive from South Alabama to Port Canaveral for cruises. I spend the night in Jacksonville and drive into PC the next morning. It is 6 hour drive from my house to Jacksonville. You definitely need to do self debarkation and be the first off the ship. If you are on the interstate by 9:00 AM you are ok. Downtown Jacksonville interstate is a maze. It is the shortest route. The port is on the north side of the city. The loop around the city has less traffic but longer.

I have no advice but wonder why you want to turn platinum before your cruise to Alaska. I’m in no way criticizing you, just seems like a lot for a few perks??? NO WORRIES if you want to tell me to mind my own business ✌️✌️Good luck; lots of great advice here as always! 👍👏And happy cruising.

Agree! Another possibility would be a Port Canaveral to Tampa. :classic_cool:

I feel like this one would make me a lot more nervous due to the crazy Orlando traffic!  I'm sure there are ways around it, but driving through Orlando always stresses me a bit.   I'm sure it is doable as it is probably a shorter drive and i'm thinking of I-4 which you would not encounter until south of Orlando.  But doesn't like a challenge though!

The Beachline / 528 is much better than it was 5 or 6 years ago, taking you from PC to I-4.  And the 417, which dives well below the Orlando area, is a good bypass to get to Tampa.  By the time you get to I-4, the traffic going to Tampa should be much more reasonable - though you might be dealing with late-morning Disney theme park traffic as you approach I-4.

Surprisingly, there have been some improvements on driving I-4 through Orlando, including the addition of express toll lanes.  Even if you don't take them, the number of people who do alleviates the non-express lanes a bit.  But that's north of the 528 junction - but it does mean the leftover rush hour is diminished.

With the cruises I currently have booked, including Alaska, I am 6 days from platinum for Alaska. With good casino deals, I just figured I might take advantage of it, and Alaska would be a great milestone cruise to turn platinum on. No particular reason other than that. And we plan to spend a few extra days in Seattle before and after, so I can take advantage of my free laundry to pack less under wear! LOL
