Sky Sweet Posted May 9, 2007 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2007 If you could change just one thing (or two) on a Celebrity Cruise to enhance your overall cruise experience, what would it be?
Cote d'or Posted May 9, 2007 #2 Share Posted May 9, 2007 - No more chairhogs - charge for shuttle busses (except transfers to/from airport) in ports of call included in the global price. Besides that : we love X ! :)
chessbriar Posted May 9, 2007 #3 Share Posted May 9, 2007 Enforcing the dress code. The disregard people show for the dress code bothers me in the same way people who disregard the driving laws. Follow the rules people

Follow the rules people I agree with this completely. Actually, enforce all the rules, all the time or do not bother having any at all.

dakodacruiser Posted May 9, 2007 #6 Share Posted May 9, 2007 I would change debarkation day. I would let everyone have the option to stay on until after lunch. This way there would be no long lines to leave and the cruise would end on a relaxing note. But then again, I would like to change embarkation day to early morning arrival so that the first day would be a whole day. I guess that wouldn't work would it? B4andAFT Posted May 9, 2007 #7 Share Posted May 9, 2007 Eliminate informal nights. Stick to formal and casual.
vjw1218 Posted May 9, 2007 #8 Share Posted May 9, 2007 I would add self-service laundry facilities. I know not every one wants to do laundry on a cruise; but for us, it's a great benefit. It saves over-packing - especially on a longer cruise - and it's much cheaper than having things sent out to be laundered. HAL has laundry rooms available on some of their ships and we really appreciate them.
vjw1218 Posted May 9, 2007 #9 Share Posted May 9, 2007 I would have some non-smoking lounges on board and move the designated smoking areas so that non-smokers wouldn't have to walk through them to get wherever they're going.
Karynanne Posted May 9, 2007 #10 Share Posted May 9, 2007 I would ask X to use "Universal" language on every ship, regarding the dress code. We were just on Mercury...and on our invitation to their High Tea...the dress code stated "Semi-Informal". Now "Informal" I completely understand..."Semi-Formal" also. But "Semi-Informal" was a new one to me. Karyn
Mr. Tucker Posted May 9, 2007 #11 Share Posted May 9, 2007 This will probably be a very unpopular response but I would like to see them do away with dressing formal, informal and move in the direction of 100% country club casual.

That would be fine with me, as long as they enforce the dress code they do have, which at present they do not.
wvufan Posted May 9, 2007 #14 Share Posted May 9, 2007 I like the idea of strict enforcement of the rules on dress code, smoking areas, etc, but my number one change would be to have specific non smoking times in the entire casino. Good thread:) OOOEEE:D :D Bob and Phyl
Rare Lois R Posted May 9, 2007 #15 Share Posted May 9, 2007 Hmmm....please no flaming:eek: ....but if they would make the single supplement lower that would make me very happy:) I still love the product and have 2 more booked but lets say, 135% supplement across the board....just my thoughts, so again, don't slam me for it. LOL I would say eliminate the casual nights and do formal every night!
babylene Posted May 9, 2007 #17 Share Posted May 9, 2007 I also vote for Country Club casual. What exactly does that mean? Would my husband need a sport jacket? For myself, I guess a sweater set or a jacket, right? I have the Chico's travellers line, unconstructed, easy to pack jackets.
Sky Sweet Posted May 9, 2007 Author #18 Share Posted May 9, 2007 On our first cruise, during the seventies, the dress code was formal for the evening of the Captain's Welcoming Reception and Country Club Casual on every other night. I personally think when there is just one formal night, it makes that evening more special than when there are three formal nights, in addition to four informal nights during a two week cruise. That makes a lot of sense to me. I could go for the one formal night. You are right three formal and four informal is alot of dressing up for a vacation and what purpose does it really serve after that one special night. dorisday Posted May 9, 2007 #20 Share Posted May 9, 2007 Eliminate the move toward having so many revenue partners for Wine, Acupuncture--flowers etc...the sales pitches are getting to be intrusive.. I agree totally with hcat. Too many organised sales pitches & not enough day & evening cruise-staff organised activities. I have no problem with the dress code cause I like to dress to impress every night
spearmint Posted May 10, 2007 #21 Share Posted May 10, 2007 I would dump the casual nights. Do formal and informal only.
Drew B Posted May 10, 2007 #22 Share Posted May 10, 2007 I would makeover the passenger base so that all passengers were of the sort who would just naturally follow rules (or laws or guidelines or suggestions or recommendations or whatever you want to call them) so that we didn't HAVE to call for enforcement. Civilized people don't require "enforcers" to make them behave properly...
Stock Cop Posted May 10, 2007 #23 Share Posted May 10, 2007 I agree--- cut to 135% for solo sailers. I just priced a cruise yesterday and solo rate was only $70 off what I would pay for two people. TERRIBLE. Country-club casual every night would be okay too. Tux is totally out of the question when I pack. Flame on. I can take it.
Rare DrKoob Posted May 10, 2007 #24 Share Posted May 10, 2007 Enforce all the rules. Or only take PAX who would follow the rules. And for number two (let the flames begin) ban smoking on all ships.
