We are organizing a group slot pull on our upcoming Mariner cruise. I have never participated in one before and it sounds like a lot of fun :)

Just curious if anyone out there that has done a group slot pull, has won anything big?

We did one this past week on Mariner. I'm not sure how many we had participate but there were a bunch of us. We all put in $20 and it returned $25.50. :D

That's great :) We have about 21 of us signed up so far. We are each putting in $21 for 7 pulls on a $3 max bet machine. Did you let the Casino know ahead of time what you were doing?

I'm not sure anyone talked to the casino before hand. We played a 2 coin Double Diamond $5.00 machine and got 2 spins each. We never hit anything big but it was sure a lot of fun along with a bunch of hoopin' and hollerin' ;)

Good Luck and have fun! :D

We've done this several times and never notified the casino ahead of time. It is a lot of fun. I believe we had 36 participate on our transatlantic so there was a lot of whoopin' and hollerin' from the group. I think the most we ever collected was $6.50 over our initial buy in (like you, $21 on a $3 max bet machine).

On the Radiance a couple of years ago, we had so much fun we did it a second time.

Just make sure the rules are clear before the first pull so no one gets their feelings hurt. On one cruise, several people came late (due to having to take their passports somewhere), and were excluded since we had already begun the game and one of the rules said that once we began, no one else could join in.

We have someone from our roll call organizing it - so it should run smoothly. I think it's going to be fun :) We all know where to meet, so everyone interested needs to show up at the correct time in the correct place - there shouldn't be any exclusions or confusion! But you know...the best laid plans, right?

We had one on the Monarch last weekend cruise out of LA. Think there were 38-40 of us @ $10 each and collected all the money prior to the pull. You also had to sign up prior to the first pull so someone can't see a big win and opt in. We picked a Wheel of Fortune machine with a max of $3 pull. Do the math and we had a few extra pulls at the end because 3 pulls x $3 didn't equal $10 but it didn't matter who pulled because we were all sharing anyway.

Anyway....sad part is the machine didn't really pay anything until right at the end so we basically ended up getting our money back.

My thoughts...I would have never put $400 into a machine myself. If it paid off big it would have been fun even though you have to share it. If it doesn't pay off I would have only lost $10 which is less then I normally put in.

It was a lot of fun, go for it!!

We did 2 Slot Pulls on the 15-day RT to Hawaii. The organizer got a hold of the casino manager who held a free raffle BOTH times. Prizes ranged from the beloved key chain to $5 match plays ( given out 2 at a time) to t-shirts and polo shirts ( I didn't win one, but I wanted one!)

Nearly every participant ended up with something from the raffles.

We had over 40 CC'ers each time and we raised quite a commotion with our screaming and cheering!....It was a great way to meet the other CC'ers....we pretty much all new each other's names after all the cheering.

Oh, Ya......we netted out about $4 to the good...

We have organized a couple of them but, alas, never come out ahead. However, the most we ever lost was $4.50 which is good entertainment value and come within $2 once or twice.

We put in $20 pp and each person had six pulls. We used a $1 machine playing $3 at a time. If they "hit" something, then we gave them an extra pull or two because they were "hot." Husband kept count of the "pulls" and when all the money had gone through the machine once, it was over. In other words, if we had $300 to gamble, then there would be 100 pulls. Everyone got at least one turn to pull and some had more because we had people give us money beforehand that weren't going to be there plus some extras with the $2 leftover from the $20 put in for the six pulls. I like the idea of collecting $21 per person, wish someone had passed that on to us.

When the money was divided up and it turned out after dividing it up equally there was still $5 left. Rather than divide it up among 20 or 30 players, a few of the guys went down and played it off on a quarter machine hoping to get it up to a $1 amount per person. Never happened, though (lol).

We also had the rule once it started, entries were closed. We tried to find a machine so that the maximum amount of people could view it being played and one that would not block passageways for non-players. Not easy but usually done. We didn't notify the casino ahead of time, maybe we should have to get some "freebees" like the other group got. We collected money at the Meet and Mingle and at other CC activities prior to the pull (which is why we had money from people that weren't there) as well as up to the start of the pull.

One time we were really down a lot and we only had $1 left in the pot for a pull. A stranger who had been watching us said he had had so much fun, he gave us $2 for one more pull. Husband put it in and hit $100 which brought us back up to 90 percent return (which husband had told me was about what you could expect on a cruise ship--this isn't Las Vegas). It really is fun.

In July on the Explorer, we did a group slot pull with I think 26 people. We had all signed up on our roll call, and each of us put in $21 (seven pulls each on a $1 Wheel of Fortune machine at $3 per pull). We were barely hitting anything, mostly $20 or $40 here and there. After everyone got their turn, we still had a little left and switched to a different $1 Wheel of Fortune machine. One of our ladies hit $1600. We cashed out at

$1700, and each person got $66, so we profited $45 each.

As an aside, if you tell the casino manager that you're having a slot pull, they'll give out prizes based on how many people are signed up. The manager gave each of us a red ticket and he drew for about six or seven prizes to include t-shirts, lithographs, keychains, etc.

I think I understand how it works,,,,but....

You each put in $21 (7 pulls on a $1/$3 max bet) machine. At the end of your 7 pulls, wouldn't you just leave whatever is built up in credits on the machine? So whatever credits are on there...add another $21, then 7 pulls. then the next person, and so on. Then wouldn't you just divide the credit pot at the end? I don't understand throwing extra spins for hot players in if you are dividing the pot at the end?

It sounds like fun, and thanks for explaining the rules. We've never done that or a cabin crawl/poker run thing. (I also had a little trouble understanding that one) Thanks. :)

Well on our FReedom cruise in September we did two group pulls. On the first one we trippled our money but we kept on playing and lost. :p

Now read this:

On our Majesty cruise last October we did a group pull as well. We just won enough to keep us alive for a while. It was great fun.

We played on a machine which was in a group of six machines which were placed so that three machines were back-to-back with the other three machines.

When we finished playing a few of us were still standing around, a lady sits down, puts in a 20 dollar bill, pulls one time and sits quietly there. Just sits there. She won $1400 on her first pull within a minute or two after we stopped.

My wife and the others were pissed, I was stunned.

Here is what we always do:

One person pulling slots for the entire money creates boredom because the last one has to wait a long time.

We all decided on an amount, lets say $5 per person if it is a large group. We go one time through the entire group and start over again. Even if you put only $5 per person in you will win enough to make another run through. Guaranteed. If after the second round there is still money in there we boys let the girls go through. If money is still there, the boys go through. By that time we won so much that we could go through again - all of us.

We went about 4 or 5 times each before we got into 'financial' trouble. The girls couldn't win enough money for all the boys to participate so I volunteered to sit out and another guy as well. The rest of the boys won enough credits for the girls to run through and then we were done.

We always play the slots with the spinning wheels for $3 a pull.

I'm thinking by the time everyone signs up, we will have at least 25 people or possibly more. I will let our slot pull organizer know to tell the casino manager we are coming in! We have planned it for 4:30pm on our first sea day - everyone meeting in the Schooner Bar to go over the rules, collect the money etc. before we go inside the casino.

If my total loss will only amount to $21 it's not that bad - we may even win a few bucks, who knows??

I remember my very first cruise on the Radiance in 2005. I wandered into the casino on the first night and sat down at a quarter machine (it was the Dick Clark New Years machine) and popped in a $20 bill. I hit max bet and wasn't paying all that much attention......then a wheel above started spinning and I noticed the number of credits I could potentially win - it was in the thousands! Then I looked down to see what I had bet to warrant this, and I saw max bet on this machine was 40 quarters!!! I didn't realize this when I sat down....the wheel kept spinning and stopped........I won $2500.00 on that one pull :D My picture was up on the video screen outside the casino so there was no hiding it from DH :rolleyes:LOL! I took the winnings and headed straight to the nearest jewellery store in St.Thomas and bought myself a lovely diamond ring :)

Since then I have won smaller jackpots - last November on the Mariner I won $750.00 on a nickel slot machine!

The casino's do pay......sometimes ;)

I think that I reported on the "live from the Monarch" Panama Canal trip that we each won..................$5.00. ;):)

We particiapated in 4 different slot pulls.........and we broke even 3 times, and one time we each were given a five dollar bill.

For all of the fun...........to be able to come out "even" is exciting to me. To win a couple of dollars...........and have the fun.......is even better!!

I'm sure that sometime.....someone has won "BIG"!!:D

I'd love to hear the stories!!

Rick , Welcome Back!- I followed your "live" thread, thanks so much for taking the time to do it. I know the cost is high and the connection is so slow at times.

I want to hear the stories of people who won on group slot pulls too.....hope there are some out there??

OK that could be fun. I will ask at the M&M if there is any interest in meeting up for one later in the afternoon. I could see doing $10 per person. 3 spins at $3 (max bet) each spin. Leave the credits on the machine, and split the total when everyone each had their 3 spins. Everyone would get at least a dollar back then. :) But there is probably something wrong with that logic. I tend to get over organized, and I'm not a huge gambler...and why wouldn't that work?. :D .

If you want the extra raffles don't forget to talk to the slot manager the very first night.. Tell him you want to mention his/her name to the group so they can say very nice things about the slot manager on the cruise survey..Tell him/her to please spell their name so it will be correct on the survey.. Bet you they give you a raffle.. I've tried it three times and it worked 3 times.. The manager was very, very happy to be mentioned in a positive light by the slot pull participates.. Good Luck:)

We are organizing a group slot pull on our upcoming Mariner cruise. I have never participated in one before and it sounds like a lot of fun :)

Just curious if anyone out there that has done a group slot pull, has won anything big?

We've participated in several slot pulls and our experience, like nearly everyone else, is that we've never won or lost a significant amount of money. But we've always had a lot of fun and who knows the next one might be the big payday.

A couple suggestions we'd make are to (1) Ask all the participants to show up with exactly $21. You don't want to be making change during the pull. (2) Have someone count each participants spins. You'll be surprised at how easy it is to lose track, especally when someone hits the wheel of fortune.

We agree with the advice you have received about setting rules. Below is a slot pull promo we've used, on several cruises, to lay out the basic rules.

SLOT PULL: Here is a fun chance to strike it rich rich rich. Our slot pull leader will pick a dollar slot machine that has a 3 play maximum, usually a wheel-of-fortune machine. Everybody who wants to participate kicks-in $21 and gets seven lucky spins.

After everyone has completed their spins all the winning will be distributed. The winnings will be distributed equally except that they will be rounded down to the nearest dollar. To distribute the accumulated change we can either have a drawing or award it to the person who has won the most during their spins. If 35 people participated the lucky change winner could walk away with anywhere from 35 cents to $34.65.

Win a little or lose a little the slot pulls are usually a blast! Participation will be in the order of sign up. We'll start the sign up here but you'll still have until the very first spin to join up.
