cassieroll Posted January 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2009 How do I go about finding a reputable travel agent? I've looked in our local phone book.. the only listing is for AAA which we belong too but I want a personal experience and I want someone I can call or email if something happens while on holiday. To date, I've just booked directly with the cruise line but we want to take the kids next year and I think I need help with that. Any advice? cb at sea Posted January 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2009 What's wrong with going to the AAA office and speaking to a real, live person? I'd much rather take an hour of my time to discuss travel arrangements in person, than trying to find someone on the 'net.
paul929207 Posted January 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted January 12, 2009 If you are looking for something local, ask around - friends, family, people at work and church.
cassieroll Posted January 12, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted January 12, 2009 Right after I posted my husband read over my shoulder and told me our very first cruise was planned with the help of the AAA TA. LOL! I guess I'll call them! They are in the "big" town about an hour away and I wanted someone more personal I guess. And I have asked around. I live in a very tiny town (pop under 700) and the ONE agent we had went out of business last year. No one knows what to do. I've always done our own planning so it didn't matter until this came up. Thank you for your fast responses! luvscruising2007 Posted January 12, 2009 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2009 My mom used AAA for all her travels. Because of this she got to know the agents just as if they were a local travel agent. I think you will be happy using AAA.
highrollers Posted January 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2009 I am in a similar situation, I have always booked my owned vacations. Searched the web for the best deals, researched, etc. We are currently planning a cruise to Alaska since Princess is offering the 2 for 1 deal. We went to a travel show and a local travel agent guarenteed me that he can and will beat my best price. I am not thoroughly convinced, but we are going to talk to him tomorrow to see if he really can. I am very confused as to whether or not it is better to book through a TA. Rare Essiesmom Posted January 12, 2009 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2009 I booked my first three cruises through AAA and was very satisfied. Then my 'agent' there moved to a different agency, and I followed her and have been extremely satisfied again. EM
