how does the group rate generally compare?? vs lets say past guest

Past Guest rates are only valid for certain cruises..We were not able to use our past guest rate for Glacier Bay last Sept....To be totally honest with you I have never done a group cruise so it will be interesting to see how this all comes together..

I have done 9 group cruises and 3 cruises just us and can tell you that we have always

done better with rates

reduced deposit

amenities like OBC and wine and/or canapes

meet new friends

see old friends

group rates at hotels if flying in early

The signature tells you how much we like group cruises:)

Because we would be flying in from the East Coast we would plan to fly in two days before.

That gives us the evening and one full day before we cruise.

We usually fly home immediately after the cruise.:(

We may decide not to do that this time:D!

This would only be a 3 and a half hour flight for us..When we flew into Vancouver last year we both thought it would be nice to explore a little..The area around the cruise ship dock looked very interesting...

Hows your weather up there??I was in Bingimtion However you spell it....Last November..It was snowing like crazy...We were lucky to get back through the poconos to Reading Pa..

Take it from someone who lives in this part of the world.....for an Alaska cruise out of Vancouver, you should try to come in to Vancouver at least 2 -3 days before (or plan to stay after). There is a lot to see and do.

And if airfare to Vancouver looks a little high, it's because you're flying "international". To save costs, consider flying into Seattle and either drive or take the Amtrak to/from Vancouver.

Do you think it would be a cruise that a 10, 11, and 16 year old would like? If so count us in 2 rooms 5 people. (depending on air fare)

My three grandchildren (8, 10 and 15) will be on the cruise with me in September. There is definitely things for them to do...gold panning in Juneau, the Whitepass and Yukon Railroad trip in Skagway, duck boat tour or lumberjack show in Ketchikan, and whale watching tours. If your kids are at all interested in wildlife, this is definitely a trip to do.

The Carnival Spirit has a great kids' program (Camp Carnival) and Club 02 for the older one. There's also an arcade onboard.

Here are a few: Stanley Park, Gastown, Granville Island, Capilano Suspension Bridge, and Grouse Mountain. If you have more time and want to go a little further, then Whistler Mountain (where the 2010 Olympics will be held) is great even in the summer.

There's lots of great shopping in the downtown area, too. I usually get over to Vancouver once or twice a year for a concert or play. I love Vancouver, but it's much bigger than Victoria, so I'm always glad to get home.

LOL! It probably won't take much of a twist to return to some of the most beautiful places I've ever seen!

I've seen lots of group cruises but none to Alaska that I have noticed. I hope this can really come together!

I have a pretty good lens...BUT that photo was taken in a wildlife sanctuary ..I would like to say it was taken in the wild but the bear was in a field behind a fence..:)

I forgot to mention that when I was over on the Alaska boards I saw a thread that started on Dec 13 2007 for the Sept 2, 2009 sailing on the Spirit.

So, maybe they open up sooner some years than I thought.....
