:DIt's I heart bda, you know, I love Bermuda. Don't know WHERE that stupid dash came from. Just never get around to asking to have it dropped.:o

LOL.. I thought the "bda" was your hubby's initials! d-u-h ;)

iheart ~ do you remember the matre 'd's name by chance? We really enjoyed ours too. He made us feel very special by always coming to our table and chatting with us. He was actually the jr. matre 'd. He's a shorter, thin man, dark skin, very soft spoken. I'm so ashamed I can't remember his name.

OH yes the shrimp cocktails in the buffet, ALSO the pasta bar outside the buffet, it is wonderful. I loved it so much I came home and had to start my own pasta bar, made dh very happy and I even got him to eat some veggies that way.

And who could forget the BEST part and that is the staff, they are the best, maybe because the ship is small and you get to know some of them. Though one of the staff told me it is a close family and the captain is the dad, he really treats his staff wonderful and in turn they treat the passengers wonderful. When you smile at the staff, you always get a smile back. I love that. We are going on the Majesty one last time before it leaves NCL in Oct, and Can't wait. In fact Iheartbda (and boy does she love Bermuda) is going to be there too, as well as 10 from our Sept sailing in 08. You will enjoy the ship.

Well, I CAN think of something for bda that would fit DH.:p

No, that doesn't fit the description of the matre 'd we had whose name was Jay. I was on one week with a friend, then DH joined me the second week. When Jay learned I would be on with DH, he said come to me, I'll take care of you and he did.:)

The daily service charge is added to your bill and it is now $12 per person, per day. It includes your waiters, your room stewards and everyone that works behind the scenes to make your trip enjoyable.

Bartenders, casino staff, Spa and kids club are not included in the service charge pool. However, when you purchase drinks, a 15% gratuity is added on to the tab.

At the end of your trip, (or during it if you'd like) you CAN leave extra money for anyone you would like to compensate extra but it is NOT expected nor required.

Many people complain about the policy but I love it. No running around trying to find people who you want to tip, no wondering if you left enough, or didn't. It's painless and easy IMO.

Thanks CG. :) Is this $12 added before you board the ship (at check in) or on the last day? I only have experience with Royal Caribbean's policies. ;) We like to hand deliver the tip at the end of our cruise, that way we tip according to the service we received. We always see our cabin steward the morning we leave. The wait staff we hand the envelope to at the last dinner. With the bartenders there is the 15% added, we don't gamble so no need to tip, and our children are adults.

It is added on a daily basis to your onboard account and charged to your credit card on the morning that you leave the ship. When you receive your printout of your onboard account it will show a $12 per person, per day charge for every day.

I think that you will end up really liking the service charge. It's so organized and keeps you from trying to find the people you want to tip, etc. I wasn't sure I'd like it but once I experienced it, I found it to be so much better then the "old" way.

I know that the staff loves it too. No more people skipping the last night in the dining room so they don't have to tip, or stiffing their stewards completely. And those that many people wouldn't consider tipping, who work very hard (such as the buffet workers) are compensated also. And, don't be concerned about sub par service. The staff is well paid for their job (due to the service charge) and want to keep their customers happy. Of course, there are ALWAYS exceptions, but I have found that to be rare. And, some people do tip additionally, so that incentive is there also to give good service.

Not to confuse you.. but the DSC is added DAILY to your onboard charge account. You'll pay that off at the end of your cruise however you desire.

There are no balconies on the Majesty. The next best thing for us was booking a cabin on a deck close to the promenade deck near a public stairwell. We sat for hours on chairs on the promenade deck and moved our chairs near the railing. We were also able to access this area quickly anytime we wanted to.

When was the last time you were on her? In Sept./Oct. there were no chairs anywhere on the promenade, Captain Borg thought it was a safetly issue.

Thank you AWinkler for this advice. :D Didn't know this was added DAILY! We like handing them their tip at the end of our cruise. :D

There's a somewhat private deck right outside room 8983. There's a couple of chairs and a table there. The exit door is right outside that room to the sun deck. If you go around the corner to the right you will find this secret spot. Watch your head when going around the corner...you'll see what I mean. ;)
We actually stayed in that room and it was like having a private balcony and a very open view from inside the room.
Another tip about 8983! The beds cannot be pushed together in that room - not a problem for us as I was traveling with my BGF.

Take a white outfit for the White Hot Party. Great fun!

Buy the Romance Anniversary Package and go to the Bistro for dinner.
You will also enjoy all the other treats that are included in the package! :D

Don't miss the Ms. Norwegian Majesty Pageant ....lord..lord!! It was held by the pool I think the second night on our voyage.

Cats Pajamas were awesome! :)

If you purchase booze in the Duty Free Shop it be delivered to your room the night before you disembark....we received ours around 4:00pm.

If you like to consume adult beverages - do the Pub Crawl.

The last night there was a nice "Farewell Show" in the theater...you may take pictures that night during the performance....so take your camera. ;)

I may think of more later.....we cruised in November and had a blast! :p

I don't think there was a karaoke contest just nightly karaoke. We never went as we were way too busy dining and dancing!

On other ships I've been on they had a "Star Search" type show where passengers auditioned and performed. My DSD was in one of those shows on the Sun a couple of years ago.

Never saw anything like that in the dallies on the Majesty. :(

OK.. you sold me.. I changed our cabin to 8983. Cost $100 and we lost $150 of our OBC, but I don't care. It's worth it to us. Thanks for the tip!

BTW ~ We keep the bed's apart when we cruise anyway.. There's more than one way to skin a cat. ;)

AWinkler,

You will love the secret spot. Have you cruised on the Majesty before?
I will try and upload pictures this weekend and show you the space and room pics. :)

And you are right about skinning a cat ~ where there's a will one can find many ways! ;)

LOL.. Glad you came back to see my post! Please email me at awinkler00@yahoo.com if you want to tell me more. I'm so excited. We've sailed Majesty twice. First cabin on Deck 3 and 2nd cruise, deck 6. We really liked that cabin and were planning on staying in it again, but I just know we'll love this more. Please do send or post pictures. My TA kept saying that there's a 20% view obstruction, but I told her what you'd written about a "wide open view." Even if it is obstructed, no biggie to me. You had a fridge, right? Thanks again for the great tip!! It's totally renewed my excitement for this cruise.

Were you ever bothered by the sound of the door next to the cabin being opened and shut? What about the gym below? That's near the disco.. Any problems with that noise?

We were on deck 8 Aft when we sailed in Oct 08. We used the AFT Deck 8 Deck a lot. The crew goes up there to smoke sometimes as well (i.e. secret hidden place with few passengers). If you get one of the rooms that look out onto the deck (port and starboard side have one I believe - I know Starboard does) make sure you close your window shades at night....ha-ha
