Have tried to search and failed.... so much info here!!

 

How much roughly is a cab from the Frihamnen Cruise Port to Arlanda? Cruiseline is asking £47pp

My family of 4 will be in Stockholm on Sunday June 22 from 8am - 4pm on the NCL star (docked in Stadsgarden). I am planning for us to do the day on our own, but would like better directions for transportation. I'm contemplating the HoHo boats, but am open to other transportation options as well. I'm sure these questions have been asked many times before, but I'll appreciate your responses.

 

- I have read about Red Sightseeing HoHo company, and Royal Sightseeing HoHo company. Are there any other HoHo boat companies that stop at Stadsgarden?

 

- Do all HoHo companies have the early boat trip directly over to Vasa, or just a certain one? And what time does the early trip depart at from the cruise terminal?

 

- I am trying to get us over to Vasa museum right when it opens, 10am, so if the boat trip gets to the island earlier are there nice things to walk and see nearby the museum? I'm aware that no other stores or venues will be open at this time.

 

- If not using the HoHo boat system, what is the next best way to get from Vasa over to Gamla Stan?

 

- If not using the HoHo boat system, what is the next best way to get from Gamla Stan back over to our ship at Stadsgarden?

 

- I wrote as a question in another thread that I am contemplating being able to go to the Ice Bar on our own, but the only reservation time it gives us is 2:15pm (I'm guessing after the cruise ship tour visits). If we don't get out of the Ice bar until 2:45pm is there any chance of being able to make it back to the cruise ship terminal by 3:30pm (and by what mode of transportation), or should this be avoided because it's too far and too close to departure time?

Yes there is also Strömma HoHo boats.

 

I don't know. I know that Red Sightseeing does it, and I think that Royal Sightseeing also might do it, at least they did with the previous owners.

However there aren't any information regarding it for neither strömma or Royal Sightseeing.

 

Vasa opens at 08.30 during the period June 1st to August 31st.

So I don't think you will be there early and even if you are, it is usually a good idea to get in line straight away due the large amount if visitors at Vasa.

From Vasa to Gamla Stan, either bus #76 from Djurgårdsbron towards Norra Hammarbyhamnen or Djurgårdsfärjan from Allmänna Gränd to souther tip of gamla stan.

Taking the HoHo boat from Gamla stan to Stadsgårdskajen takes quite long time (approx 45min) as the boats goes from Gamla Stan to Stadsgården

via Nybroviken-Vasa-Skeppsholmen and Gröna Lund before arriving at Stadsgården cruise berth.

 

Other options are bus and taxi.

 

The most convenient bus would be bus #53 towards Finnberget or Henriksdalsberget from either Riddarhustorget or Kornhamnstorg. Get off at Londonviadukten.

As for the ice bar, it is possible to make it if you are able to catch bus #53 towards Finnberget or Henriksdalsberget from Centralstation at 14.51. The journey will take about 15 minutes.

 

The next departure is 15.11 and that will bring you to the Londonviadukten bus stop at approx 15.25.

 

However due to construction around Centralstation I am not sure exactly where the bus stop is.

Yes, thank you very much, Deschido62 (may be mispelled because I can't see the name from the reply). It looks like it is fairly close and about 10 minutes away. Perhaps we could even get a taxi and it wouldn't be too expensive.

From Frihmanen to Gamla Stan, use bus #76, towards Norra Hammarbyhamnen, which stops at Frihamnen and Gamla Stan.

There is both the possibility to purchase a ticket for one stop and the full HoHo boat tour ticket but I don't know if you have to buy the full tour ticket for the direct trip to Vasa.

I have been in contact with the Red Sightseeing HOHO and they state they will be at the berth early to arrive for opening of Vasa. However, I too have contacted the other company, Stromma, which also seems to own Royal Sightseeing and they stated they would be at berth at 10:00 even though I told them the ship landed at 8:00. Our cruise is in August and is in port for the same times as your ship. I would be curious to know you outcome after your visit.

Our ship will arrive at Stockholm (Frihamnen 638) on June 28 at 10am. We were thinking of going to the Drottingholm palace. What public transportation can I take (and how much) to pick up a boat to Drottingholm? Is there a good place to eat by where we pick up the Drottingholm-bound boat?

 

How long would it take to go through the palace? would a couple of hours be enough? Do they have any English speaking tour guides?

 

After we're done at Drottingham, what would be the most economical way to get back to the ship at Frihamnen? The ship will be there overnight, so there is no pressure to be back for a sail away.

Hello,

 

We plan on ending our day in Gamala Stan. What would be the best way to get back to our cruise ship in Frihammen? We saw that we can take the subway part way but we are not sure if there would be taxis at the last stop to take us the rest of the way. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you! We are avoiding using credit cards for our trip, so I'm trying to determine how much quantity of each currency I will need. I am planning to order SEK for our known costs for the HoHo boat tour and for the Vasa museum, but I'm not sure how much extra we will spend on shopping or snacks (if any). I wanted to ask if typical shops/vendors would accept Euro's for such items like snacks and souvenirs, or must we have SEK on hand? I'm trying to see if we would be able to use up any extra Euro's we have since this will be our last port stop, and it is easier to keep extra Euro's but not extra SEK.

I have some transportation questions. Some of these may be answered somewhere on this thread, but it is very long.

I want to get from Frihamnen Berth 634 to Vasa as soon as it opens on a Saturday. Our ship docks at 8am. Is the best way a taxi or HoHo boat?

From there we will go to Gamla Stan. I think there is a boat, but I am not sure what is the best way.

From there we have reservations at the Ice Bar at 2:15pm or 14:15. Is it far to walk or what is the best way there?

From there we need to get back to the ship at Frihamnen. What is the best way to do that?
