Live Cruise Reports

Live Trip Reports from across the Community, hand-picked by your Community Team.

Yesterday we checked in at about 1.15 pm although our official time was 2.00 pm. We were dropped off at the first location where we got luggage labels and our bags were taken. Back on a shuttle to the next location where the official check in was done. Then on to another shuttle to the ship. We went up to the pool deck for a drink and chips, salsa etc. about 2.30 pm we went to our suite where our luggage was waiting. The earliest luggage ever I think. Our butler, Ian, appeared promptly to introduce himself. We watched the security video and unpacked. Muster drill was at 6 pm.

Join Bill & Mary Ann On A Journey Like No Other-2024 GWV On The Zuiderdam For 128 Days
Well, the time of year has come when we are ready to embark on another long adventure around the world on HAL’s Zuiderdam.  The original plan for this cruise was a trek up the Amazon River, back through the Caribbean, then transiting the Panama Canal.   But wait, we learned that the water level in both the Amazon and the Panama Canal were at record lows.  A few other cruise ships cancelled their transits to both areas.  In hindsight, perhaps we would not have found us between a rock and a hard spot trying to get Brazilian visas, which were sprung upon us USA, Canadian, and Australian citizens at the last minute.  Good grief…..it has turned out to be a most stressful time for all waiting to see a final approval check waiting for us on the computer every morning .  As for us?  We are still waiting. The way we read HAL’s communication, if we do not get approved before we get there, we will have to stay onboard the ship.  There still is a possibility that Brazil could be taken off of the itinerary.  Oh boy, are we off to a good start or what?

It's chilly and raining down this morning here in Charlotte, NC. I love leaving for the Caribbean when it's so miserable at home. This will be the longest I've sailed on the same ship. I have sailed with Princess previously on 25 occasions, but never on the Enchanted or for this extended solo. I'm looking forward to the next 30 days. This is my first live, and I plan to post as often as possible. I booked Princess Premier in a mini-suite for the first 10 days, and then I will move to a Penthouse Suite for 20 days.

Close to the Edge. Almost live from…..
First time Celebrity cruiser here, been on several cruises before, most recently Silversea and my last live from was the Infamous Pirates of the Caribbean cruise on Crystal Symphony with the arrest warrant incident  Here’s hoping for a slightly less adventurous adventure this time. Travelling solo and boarding on the 13th. (Do have friends onboard though)
I Arrived in Oz on Thursday afternoon after 2 long days travelling from MAN-DBX-MEL- AYQ. Luckily got a great upgrade offer from Emirates on the DBX-MEL leg so snapped their hand off. Uluru was an incredible experience, took a sunset helicopter flight over Uluru and Kata Tjuṯa.

Live from the Caribbean Princess (7 January 2024)
This Live From will be short but sweet. Tomorrow my best friend and I (both 32F) will be heading out from Calgary to Fort Lauderdale for the 7 January sailing on the Caribbean Princess on a 7 day Caribbean cruise.

We are both from Canada and have known each other for twelve years. We have travelled together before to multiple destinations including New Year’s in Mexico and Halloween in New Orleans and even lived together in Europe for a few years, so we know one week will be a piece of cake.  My friend has never been on a cruise before. We had one booked for April 2020 but I’m sure we all know how that worked out. This will be my eighth? cruise and third with Princess.

Semi-Live: Valiant Lady, January 7th to January 13th
DW (@Moochi) and I have sailed exclusively with Celebrity since we've been together. We wanted to give VV a try, so we did the natural thing of booking the Brilliant Lady's maiden voyage. When Brilliant was delayed, we were disappointed but that disappointment quickly turned to elation when we saw VV's replacement offer. We quickly transferred that cruise to the Scarlet Lady TA later this fall. Then we booked this trip to scratch our cruise itch now, while my work is slow.

LIVE from Odyssey 1/6/24 8-night Southern Caribbean
Only fifteen minutes left before we head for the hotel-sponsored pier shuttle ($15pp) so thought I’d start writing early… arrived in FLL two days ago to ensure we missed any snowstorms. Landed at 6:30pm and the airport was jammed. Waited about 40 minutes for the free Crowne Plaza shuttle—I was almost ready to give up and take a cab since so many people were also waiting. Not sure “free” was worth the wait.

We boarded on January 4 so have only been onboard 2 days. The service is impeccable. The asymmetrical design takes a bit of getting used though we have experienced this type of design on other ships. It gives the ship a big ship feel because it is long though not very wide. The service is exceptional, things are done when asked and followed up on. Seas are calm and meeting lots of lovely people. 69 more days ahead.

Live Review-MSC Yacht Club on World Europa 12-19th January 2024 -Mediterranean
Here goes with another live review of our January cruise around the Med on a new ship to us, MSC World Europa. Following a fabulous New Year’s live review from @Stockjock-this will focus on Yacht Club experience in particular.
We have a couple of MSC excursions booked and I’ll report on those and I’m sure there will be food photos, menus and snaps of the entertainment on offer. We are intrigued to see this large ship and in particular check out the new design with open y shaped stern. Equipped to carry 6762 passengers and 2138 crew, is this ship too extensive to enjoy or an elaborate extravaganza?
Please follow along on our trip and feel free to ask me if you want any information.

Two Midwesterners escape winter on the Eurodam.
Hello.  We are Nancy and John and we will be boarding the Eurodam on January 3 for 52 days at sea.  We have strung a 10-day with 2 21-day Collector voyages traveling the Caribbean and some Central America.  We usually do one HA cruise per year and have never documented our trips.

LIVE * Bliss * 12/31/23-1/7/24 * New Year’s Haven-light Cruise
I can’t believe this cruise is finally here! It was a long time in the making. It started out as a Virgin Voyages Brilliant Lady MerMaiden cruise out of Puerto Rico. We were so looking forward to that cruise and itinerary! I had a hunch that it was going to be cancelled due lack of communication from VV, and sure enough it was. Boo! The ship was, and still is, no where near ready to sail! Luckily all 16 of us were able to jump aboard the Bliss sailing out of our home port of LA. It was an easy call. No flights needed for most of us and the price was right.

Selbourne ‘Live’ from Aurora’s 2024 Grand Tour
Pre-Departure Introduction

Well here we go again, although now it’s time for something completely different! Tomorrow we embark Aurora for the longest cruise that we have ever done - 65 nights to America and the Caribbean. It’s a port intensive cruise (which we like) with 28 different destinations, which is as many as some much longer World Cruises achieve. This will be our 9th cruise on Aurora (our most cruised on ship), but our last cruise on her was back in November 2019, just before ‘you know what’ turned the World upside down, so it will be interesting to see what, if anything, has changed.

LIVE from Regal NYE Cruise 27DEC-07JAN
Hello everyone! I figured I would start a live for the Regal NYE cruise since I have enjoyed reading other people's lives on here. I cannot promise to be as good of a narrator as @TxTeach79 or @Saint Greg who recently both did detailed lives from the Regal, but I hope it will be entertaining for me to update at least.

TxTeach79's Ringing in '24 LIVE - Celebration NYE!
Well well well! We meet again!!

I'm excited to be taking you all along as best I can on this year's NYE sailing onboard the still-pretty-new Celebration! This time last year, my better half @HelloItsMeB and I somehow lucked into a casino freebie on the NYE sailing of Mardi Gras out of Port Canaveral, and though I'd been cruising almost my whole life I had never experienced a NYE sailing. Well, needless to say we had an absolutely PHENOMENAL time! So much so, we essentially agreed to make it a yearly tradition whenever possible. Hell, we already have Magic booked for NYE '25!

Live from MSC World Europa. NYE Cruise, December 29, 2023 out of Barcelona.
Last year we did a New Year’s Eve cruise on Virtuosa out of Paris/Le Havre and this year we are doing a NYE cruise on World Europa out of Barcelona, so I will have some photographs and comments along the way.

We are staying at the NH Collection Grand Hotel Calderon, in Barcelona, which we like a lot. It’s located on Las Ramblas, which is right on the main drag.

Tonight, we are going to do a walking tour that includes stops at several bars with some tapas and drinks.

LIVE from Antarctica on Seabourn Pursuit! - Jan 7-19, 2024
Happy New Year!

After getting so many great travel tips from this site, I hope to share some useful information on this bucket list trip to Antarctica. Since Seabourn’s expedition ships are relatively new with limited reviews posted I found it a little difficult to get all the information I wanted when I planned this trip back in Jan of 2023 so feel free to ask any questions along the way and I will try to address them as we travel.  While we wait to start our travel journey, first some background:

LIVE from Viking Star-- Hawaiian Islands Sojourn -- 28 Dec. 2023 --13 January 2024
Had V "free air" from PHL to LAX. Initially was assigned a nonstop to LAX, but was changed to a connection through MSP. Flights were on time, and luggage arrived intact at LAX. Noon arrival. V rep was at bag claim, with our names on coach transfer manifest. About a 45 min ride to Berth 93. Check in was efficient and we were on the ship at about 1:30.

SEMI-LIVE: Majestic - Sydney to New Zealand, December 22
We are now on day four of our cruise, but I'm just now logging into the internet for the first time.  I have a bit of catching up to do.

December 22 - EMBARCATION
The day started way too early (at 4:30 a.m.) so we could get the train from Canberra to Sydney. We had no intention of braving train coffee, so we ended up sleeping all the way to Sydney.  As several people had advised in this forum, getting from Central Station to Circular Quay was super-easy and we were at the ship by about noon.  (It was quite impressive to see the hull of the Majestic looming above us as we exited the train station.)

This Ain't No Disney Cruise, part 2 - My LIVE Trip Report From the Carnival Dream, January 13-27, 2024
Alternate title - "It's So Close I Can Almost See It:  The Pseudo-Panama Canal Cruise"

I decided to do a live report for my upcoming cruise on the Dream.  I'll have Internet access and with Starlink it will probably good enough to post most of the time.

Since there's a couple of weeks to go until the cruise, here's the backstory... I booked this one a very long time ago - August 2021, back in the early days of the restart.  I needed a cruise to put my FCC from the cruise I was canceling that had protocols that I didn't want to deal with.  That FCC came from a cruise that was canceled due to the ship shutdown.  I liked this one best of my options, so I booked this one and put my FCC and OBC here.  I also have $250 in OBC as a CCL shareholder.

We are headed back to Antarctica starting January 7, 2024 in San Antonio, Chile.  Some of you may recall that we were just there on the Zaandam's Grand South America (GSA) which ended last week. Thanks for following along on that thread.  Why would we return?  There are several reasons.  .......

Semi-Live from Celebrity Eclipse Dec 23 2023 - Jan 6 2024 Valparaiso to Buenos Aires (Patagonia Holiday cruise)
Flight:
My trip started off in Florida, along with my DW. I flew on AA from MIA-SCL. Unfortunately all business class seats on this route were sold out months in advance. I tried using an American Airlines System-Wide-Upgrade certificate (Based on my frequent flyer status), but as the flight was sold out consistently and nobody missed their flight, I had to fly in my Main Cabin Extra seat as purchased.
