  1. Looking at it the other way round. The smart dress code is one of the reasons we booked Cunard. On our previous line the dress code was very relaxed. While I wasn’t bothered what other people were wearing, I wanted to be in an atmosphere that was a little more formal. Was really pleased when we looked into Cunard and found it to match up to what we were looking for.
  2. We love Cornwall and try to go a few times each year. Next visit is booked for September. Something to look forward to between cruises.
  3. On our last cruise with another line we dressed up for formal night. Me in a long sparkly dress and my other half in tux and bow tie. We were in the minority, although enough people had made the effort so we did not feel out of place. While walking through one of the lounges a lady with a broad smile on her face stopped us. She remarked how lovely it was to see we had both made the effort and admired our clothes. I have no doubt she was 100% genuine, and it made our night.
  4. Just wondering if we could drop off our luggage with the porters, and go into Southampton for a couple of hours, returning at our allotted time for embarkation?
  5. Sadly I can see where Daisy is coming from. I have seen posts here which refer to Britannia guests as riff raff in steerage. I suspect that it was a dubious attempt at humour, but it doesn’t feel like that when you are one of the aforementioned riff raff. The people on these boards are very helpful and generous towards us new to Cunard. However I do get the impression that a very few posters do have a high-low mindset. I choose to ignore posts like that.
  6. There was a sale recently, although I believe this is not something that happens routinely. We had already bought an internet package, so cancelled and bought st the discounted price.
  7. Might it depend on whether the first named is travelling? I don’t think Cunard will change the name of the first named so may not transfer it to the second named passenger.
  8. When I have bought a dining package on another line it was available for any number of nights from 2-7. You could choose which restaurants you dined in. That worked as all the restaurants had a very similar cover charge. In Anne I think it would only work for 4 meals - 1 in each restaurant, due to the very different charges.
  9. Menus and prices for speciality dining as they appear in My Cunard for the May 10 voyage. Sir Samuels dinner $58.50 pp Sir Samuels lunch $31.50 pp Aranya $31.50 pp Tramonto $18.10 pp Aji Wa Pay a la carte $20 deposit to secure a booking, to be taken from the final bill. There are no details at present of a dining package.
  10. I think it’s a very individual choice as each persons’ habits can vary greatly. For us what helped us to decide is the temperature of the area we are visiting. I don’t cope very well in the heat and will drink much more bottled water, juices and soft drinks in warmer climates. As with D & N I will drink water with every meal to keep hydrated. The 15% service charge is also a factor. I really think it pays to spend half an hour doing the maths before deciding.
  11. I plan to take a spray starch that I use often. Would be concerned using a different one for the first time on a special garment.
  12. Book now button has appeared in My Cunard this evening - at a cost of $18.10 per person.
  13. A book now button has appeared this evening - at a cost of $31.50 per person.
  14. The sample menu appeared on My Cunard this evening. At present the only night available to book is the first night - May 10. Cost $58.50 per person!
  15. So far no further info has appeared re pricing - except for the pay as you go prices in Aji Wa. No menus yet for Sir Samuel’s or Golden Lion.
  16. The blurb includes the following ”. To dine at Aji Wa, we ask that you pay a deposit of $20pp at the time of booking. This amount will then be taken off your final bill on the night.”
  17. Tramonto sample menu as appeared in My Cunard today
  18. Aranya sample menus as in My Cunard today.
  19. These sample menus appeared in My Cunard today.
  20. We have bought a package, but a big part of our usage will be barista coffees, sparkling water with meals and sodas (particularly if the weather is hot). We plan an occasional cocktail and will have a glass or two of wines with meals. We totted up the amount of these drinks we usually have onboard and it didn’t seem worth paying for the package. However once we add the extra 15% for buy as you go it then became worthwhile.
  21. This image appeared on Cunard Facebook page yesterday.
  22. Totally agree. We only manage one voyage each year. A big part of the fun for me is the planning - especially on a ship new to us. I realise a lot of people just like to get onboard and be surprised and discover what’s available as they go. For us the time onboard is precious, and I don’t want to miss a thing. On this occasion the ship is new to everybody. Info about the possibilities is extremely scarce. This latest email has virtually no new info at all - other than P&P(sort of). Let’s see pictures, menus, insight speakers. Please Cunard feed our excitement and anticipation.
  23. Thank you - of course it is. That will teach me not to rush a post! 🤣
