  1. I think 5 years is a little harsh. There were a number of years that I couldn’t travel because I had a sick Father to care for. There must be a myriad of family and work reasons that may prevent you from taking a break on Cunard.
  2. We have done go green on our last 2 cruises, the latest in June this year. We had one full clean every day and a turn down service with chocolate on the pillow and towels replaced if necessary.
  3. I’m looking at it from the point of view of the guests. X would appear to be in trouble with the regular guests. I have no doubt X will continue to sell. It seems that many of the loyal guests who have sailed with X forever are having second thoughts. There’s no doubt X is changing. Time will tell whether it remains a line we still wish to sail with.
  4. Now I know X is in trouble when Jim starts looking elsewhere. Have you thought about Cunard Jim?
  5. As a newbie who will be a red top next May - I am more than happy for loyal regular cruisers to have a few extra perks. Hopefully that will be me in a few years!
  6. When we contacted the exec office in February we got a phone call back. I suggested they read these boards to see what people were concerned about, and was assured that there was a team who regularly monitored the boards. Things have worsened since then so I’m not sure that will still be the case.
  7. We are booked onto Anne’s 2nd cruise next May. The gala dates aren’t yet showing in the calendar in My Cunard. When will those details show? I’m looking forward to buying more evening gowns and am curious as to what themes will be on our cruise.
  8. Thank you for your report. We were in Southampton on June 23rd prior to a cruise on another line, and saw your Sailaway. It was so beautiful that we immediately looked at Cunard cruises when we got home and have subsequently booked for next spring.
  9. To see other cruises on the app - click on the calendar app in the middle of the top of the page. Right at the bottom there is a link in blue to change ship and dates. Then click browse ships and choose ship and date.
  10. When we boarded in June we had a printed version which we kept with our passport. We showed the paper version and the guy said thank goodness a paper pass - he was having a lot of trouble reading screens with a lot of reflections from the nearby windows! Just use whatever is convenient for you. I found it easier with paper rather than coping with the phone, which I was afraid of dropping while coping with my carry on, handbag etc.
  11. We’ve been put off the package as I believe that if you order a drink that costs over the limit you have to pay the full cost less 20%. We would prefer to have fewer but more expensive drinks so have decided to pay as we go. For a 14 day cruise for 2 of us it would cost us just under $2000, and we would still have to pay extra for the nicer wines, adding considerably to the cost of the cruise.
  12. I can’t imagine what Michel Roux Jr could bring to improve the lunchtime fish and chips etc. I wonder if perhaps his input will be directed towards the dinner menu?
  13. I hope they don’t dumb down on the dress code. The current dress code is one of the reasons we decided to switch up to Cunard.
  14. Thank you so much for this info. We are on the 14 day cruise following the maiden. I think I may have to increase our budget for speciality restaurants!!
  15. We paid extra for elegance on our June cruise this year - we had the classic package.
  16. We haven’t been yet and are in a balcony room so can’t comment. However there are lots of you tube vlogs out there, and the Cunard site is very good at info. If you look at the Cunard forum on here you will see very few gripes.
  17. We’ve decided to rest X until things settle down. Two reasons being the lovely Silhouette will no longer sail from Southampton. We have no wish to fly and E class ships have no interest for us with infinity balconies and inflated prices. Secondly you are unlikely to get what you booked, by the time you sail. So many alterations after you book. We initially booked a Princess cruise but have since cancelled and booked a Cunard cruise. I had always thought Cunard was too pricey but actually it compares favourably with X. Excursions actually seem a lot cheaper than X! We love dressing up so are ok with the stricter dress code and are looking forward to trying Cunard. Would like to think we might sail with X again but time will tell.
  18. There is a section on the Cunard website that gives the option to request an upgrade. It might be worth trying it that way before you set sail on your other cruise. I couldn’t paste a link but try googling Introducing Cunard upgrade.
  19. Just wanted to say that I’ve only been on the Cunard board a short while since our first booking last month. Finding the board very friendly and welcoming. I’m picking up a lot of helpful info for our first Cunard cruise on Queen Anne to the Canaries next May. The board seems a lot less confrontational than most boards I’m on, and appreciate Host Hattie for such a friendly safe place to be. I’m currently enjoying our garden despite the variable weather and am using it to relax in while counting down to our first Cunard foray.
  20. The 3 queens in service for Cunard have a promenade deck. Sadly Queen Anne due to come into service next spring doesn’t have a promenade. Seems like these are being phased out on most lines now.
  21. We are first time cruisers with Cunard, having had previous cruises with Celebrity. I agree with you that Celebrity tours are much more expensive than Cunard. We have booked to go to the Canaries this time and tours range from £40 to £180.
  22. It’s possible they are waiting until after her maiden voyage next May.
