  1. It would be tough on our next cruise in September. It's Rome round-trip with no sea days, so not a lot of "down" time. We're also going with another couple who happen to be cruise virgins, so I foresee a lot of hand-holding in my future. (They actually surprised US, when they told us they wanted to go along for the ride). Plus, I always seem to have more trouble than most people logging into the "free" CC access. I'll definitely do something after the fact, though. We're doing the Panama Canal in February, with a bunch of sea days. I'll try to give it a go then.
  2. If that's the case, be prepared to have your La Z Boy get up off his lazy butt and run to the door to give you a big bear hug. (Unless, of course, you have a bearskin rug...in which case, that would be his job.) But seriously, (and I'm rarely serious)...I don't know how I'm going to occupy myself until your next cruise escapade.
  3. Congrats on the HOF thing. Something to be proud of...even if everyone else is now dead 😛. I actually played five years of high school baseball. (No, I wasn't held back for academic reasons...although you'd never know it by reading many of my posts). I actually made the JV team while in eighth grade...then started the next four years on the Varsity at the Hot Corner. (Not quite HOF material, I guess...but it is a conversation piece.)
  4. You don't have to book restaurants in the order you plan to go. So, no...it doesn't matter. (And the question wasn't confusing at all. And I'm easily confused...)
  5. A few days after boarding, we canceled two excursions that we had paid for before the cruise. We got refunded to our ship account. But note that they had a stipulation that any cancellation had to be made more than 48 hours prior to the excursion. However, I don't know how strictly they adhere to this rule, since we canceled one two days before and one was one day before. It should be noted that nobody was manning (womaning?) the Excursions Desk when we went to cancel. They had a drop box on the counter for cancel notices to be put in. So it's possible they didn't know the timing of the cancellations.
  6. I resemble that comment...so I'll continue the deckchair fiasco. Earlier you said, "Most of us know that the term deckchair is the English version of lounger." Who is/are the "us" to which you refer? All of us on CC?...All of us in the world? And how, exactly, do you know that all of us know this? For the record, I am aware of the phrase "arranging deck chairs on the Titanic." However, I never pictured loungers as the deckchairs being arranged. Silly me...I always pictured just plain old chairs. If, indeed, most of "us" know what deckchairs are, I guess @ChiefMateJRKand I are not part of that exclusive group. Now back to the discussion of balconies and financial advisors.
  7. Can you please post an APB over here on the lowly NCL board to alert your FFF (fans/followers/friends) when it gets posted to be on the lookout for your report?
  8. What time did the ship arrive in port? Just trying to figure out how much time to figure between arrival and self-disembarkment.
  9. No catch. All beers in the District are covered. We were on the Escape in 2022 and returning again in September.
  10. Been to Omaha many times. Had a son at Creighton, so had many (excellent) meals there. But I would never order fish in a town known for its steaks.
  11. That would be my preferred plan, as well. However, the basic beer menu on NCL is pretty pathetic. Unless you're on a ship with a District Brewhouse, your choices are extremely limited.
  12. We did those exact same tours with italytours.eu and I completely agree with your assessments. We did, however, go to both Monaco and Eze, but the grumpy (no offense, @Grumpella) tour guide was a bit of a turn-off. Maybe you had the same guy.
  13. We had decided to stay on the ship for our stop in Cannes in a couple of months, as we have been there before...plus it's a tender, which we hate. However, I may need to re-think that plan now...although Mrs. Schmoopie may veto it.
  14. As others have said, you can avoid noise by choosing strategic locations. However, you may still have noise of another kind if you choose a balcony cabin on the Prima. Our cabin, as well as many others that have been reported on CC, had a constant loud rattling of the wall containing the balcony door. It seems to be a congenital problem with that generation of ship, as I've also read reports of this phenomenon on the Viva, as well.
  15. Carp? I think you misspelled another word...
  16. Good old NCL. What is wine "testing"? You ask the wine questions to see how smart it is?
  17. Okay, now you've done it. We were in Cannes in 2022 and we did the excursion to Nice, Monaco, Monte Carlo and Eze. We're stopping at Cannes again in September and we had planned to make this a "sea day", since we had been to Cannes and we despise tendering...plus our cruise has no "regular" sea days. We figured we'd have the ship to ourselves. But after seeing these pictures, (excluding the dog pooping sign) it's very tempting to jump ship that day. We'll see what Mrs. Schmoopie ultimately decides (although she still has some mobility issues, and from what I've read. Le Suquet can be challenging for the mobility challenged.
  18. In my post earlier in this thread, I mentioned that we were charged taxes on drinks in all four of our Spain ports in November, 2022. What I didn't mention was that this was a TA, so it definitely was not a R/T Barcelona cruise. In fact, it originated in Rome/Civitavecchia.
  19. I have an itch to get back to Europe. We're going in September. Proof that I can itch without mosquitoes. And if they're there, what's a little extra itching?
  20. Cannes is in France. Marie Antoinette is French. Marie Antoinette said, "Let them eat cake." Enough said...
  21. You took the words right out of my mouth. (Sorry for the saliva). We have had ports dropped after final payment with ZERO compensation. While I feel your disappointment, at least you got something. More than most people get.
  22. I honestly cannot remember the last time we had dinner in the buffet. We've always had great food and service in the MDR and Specialty Restaurants. For us, the buffet is an occasional quick stop for chocolate croissants and coffee at breakfast...or a couple slices of pizza at lunch to take to the pool...or a take-away cone of tasteless ice milk. Other than that, the buffet is an afterthought.
  23. You won't be sorry. The Escape is a great ship...been on her once and going on her again in September. Good luck whatever you decide.
