  1. Wait a minute... Was this because you're the only one in your stateroom...or is this some new NCL way to piss all of their upper tier people off and to save on Tide? Everything I have read up until now said that if both guests in a stateroom were Platinum or above, each person gets one bag. Our next cruise will be our first as Platinum and are taking carry-ons, which means less clothes and more laundry bags to be filled.
  2. So nice to see a picture of your dad and to be able to put a face to a name. Well, I guess "Dad" is a name. How about one of the two of you together?
  3. Submarines are reportedly headed to Iceland to peruse the specimens in the phallic museum. Gives new meaning to the term up periscope.
  4. Wait...this is actually a thing? (Pun slightly intended). I would think having this museum in Iceland would result in a significant amount of shrinkage.
  5. We were on the Jade (Pearl's sister ship) for 14 days two months ago. Pretty much everything was great to outstanding. We liked it so much, we booked the Pearl for a 14 day TA next September. If the Pearl is anything like the Jade (and it should be), it should be a great trip.
  6. We were on the Jade two months ago for 14 days. Loved pretty much everything about it. Our new favorite ship (and crew).
  7. @YVRteacher Don't know if you saw this. You (and others) should be able to take advantage of this.
  8. I didn't click on the links. Don't need to. I'm living proof that smoke triggers my (and Mrs. Schmoopie's) asthma. Whatever is in cigarette smoke, it has the effect of closing up my breathing passageways and it has the feeling of severe shortness of breath and/or suffocating. Maybe I'm an anamoly (Mrs. Schmoopie, too). Maybe we should get inflatable plastic bubbles in which we can be encased on our next cruise. On second thought, it's probably hard to breathe inside one of those, too. As for casinos (the original topic)...absolutely no problem with them. If people want to lose money, (and I've lost my share)...at least that doesn't impact others walking through (or even in the general vicinity of) the casino.
  9. Depending which survey you look at, about 11% of all American adults are smokers. 89% are not. Seems like there should be a better way to accommodate the vast majority...especially since smoke wafts far and wide and impacts everyone in the vicinity and beyond. Nasty habit...and it all goes up in smoke. Oh, wait. This was a casino discussion. In that case, never mind.
  10. Where's the best place to see turnips? 😛 Apparently they're a big thing over there, per @mking8288 👇 "4 of us with 2 other CC couples to see the turnips & flower show, etc."
  11. I was in hospital management for many years. Nurses were my favorite employees. Doctors, on the other hand...in the words of Forrest Gump, when talking about a box of chocolates..."You never know what you're going to get." Although, I've never bitten into a doctor (or a nurse, for that matter) to see if they had a nougat filling. Good thing I retired before I got the urge...
  12. If you ask me (and I know you didn't)...that's a better use of a McDonald's gift card than actually going to McDonald's.
  13. Is it a free shuttle, or do you have to make some krona magically appear between getting off the ship and getting on the shuttle?
  14. I can say with certainty that the answer would be "yes". Only because she snores loudly every night. 😛
  15. Sounds like the same set-up as the Jade. Teppenyaki is stashed away inside the Asian restaurant (Jasmine). The goofy thing is there is one line that is used for both restaurants and the host/hostess would constantly go down the line every couple of minutes asking if people were in line for Teppanyaki and pull them out to seat them. We ate in Jasmine four (or was it five) times and loved it.
  16. @D. B.Hoping you'll have follow-up reports. We have friends on this cruise and would like to "ride along" vicariously.
  17. Will be following along with everyone on their shore excursions. We will have an Iceland stop for two days next year but have no idea what to see or do. I guess we can anticipate seeing lots of ice...hence the name.
  18. On this point I need to disagree. My feeling is that desserts are the one area where NCL consistently excels. I almost never get dessert when we go out for dinner on land, but I always get dessert after every meal on an NCL cruise. As for entertainment, I'm shocked that nobody has mentioned "Choir of Man". Probably the best NCL production show...until they replace it with some inane game show (but hopefully not before September when we're on the Escape again).
  19. WOW...looks like a huge "crowd" for Deal or no Deal. That was about the same size "crowd" we had for Wheel of Fortune on the Jade. Hoping NCL observes the "crowds" and decides to pull the plug on the game show fiasco.
  20. All of this Chocolate Cowboy talk has caused me to dig deep into the photo archives for this picture of the Schmoopies with the famous one behind the bar on the Prima last year.
  21. Agree. For cruisers who do the stairmaster in the gym...if you have a stop in Cannes, (or the other French place I can't pronounce)...skip the stairmaster and take the excursion to Eze. More than enough stairs in that place.
  22. All of this swearing is going on because he knows you can't stick a bar of soap in his mouth. Smart man.
