  1. So...are your friends going to change their cruise too? As has been pointed out, cruiselines CAN change ports for any reason. All you're really guaranteed is a stateroom.
  2. Yes!! And it's almost a total guarantee that the kids make more of a mess eating than the adults. The crumbs alone... And given that kids tend to be pickier than most adults, finding things for them to eat and keeping THEM happy can be more of a challenge.
  3. As long as you had left gratuities in place, he should not have had to pool it. They only have to pool cash if gratuities have been removed. (There is a possibility that he had to turn it in, but as long as you had left autogratuities in place he would have gotten back the cash he had turned in.)
  4. They are still having to make up the 3 year old's bed, change out their towels, and clean up after them. You should still be tipping for them.
  5. Are we sure about this?? He's gone back on his "definite retirement" before... I'm not buying it until at least one full season has gone by and he doesn't play.
  6. Before the fact, I've heard there's a site to check, but I don't know what it is. After the fact? You find out when Celebrity or your TA contacts you and says you can't be on that sailing anymore and gives you whatever they're offering to compensate.
  7. It's almost a sure bet that that 3 year old generates more work for the cabin steward than the adults in the room. Especially if they're not toilet trained yet (trust me, I've met a lot of not-yet-trained 3 year olds) - or if they're wetting the bed at night. They absolutely should be charged full gratuities.
  8. I fully agree that there shouldn't be partial charters. A group of less than 100 that's running races in ports is nothing. A good portion of the ship by a group is a LOT. I don't think it's unreasonable to do as I said above. And the charter company agrees to meet a certain percentage of the ship filled by a set date or their charter is a no-go - then those on the charter are the ones out and others can take advantage of savings to fill the now NOT chartered ship. If I'm ever on a sailing that goes to a charter well after I've booked it, I'm not settling for a replacement or a future cruise credit. It will be a 100% refund AND I'll never sail that line again. Bumping people who have already booked in favor of a charter is telling individual cruisers that we don't matter.
  9. No, I know it happens. I'm saying it's ridiculous that it does! They should go to letting their charter companies know the schedule a little ahead of public release and say that they have to have their charters locked in one or two weeks before public release of the sailings. If they don't meet that, too bad, no charter for you.
  10. TOTALLY AGREE!!! I really think that cruise lines know who they work with on charters and they should go to a system where a certain point BEFORE to the general public, they should let their charter companies know the schedule and then by no later than a week before public release the charters have to make their decisions as to which sailing(s) they want to charter and once they are released to the public there's no suddenly wanting to charter. IMHO it is ridiculous that people can be booked on a cruise for MONTHS and then be contacted by the line with a "Sorry, your sailing has been chartered." Ridiculous!
  11. How early do the minibus shuttles start running? Do you pay in cash? And do you need Bermudan money or will US dollars work?
  12. This! And one of the worst things you can say is "I read on Cruise Critic that..." (or insert facebook, reddit, or any other forum), Those are some of the crew's least favorite words and are NOT likely to help you in any way.
  13. And how long will the trip home be if you miss that 11am flight and have to likely do stand-by for another flight home?
  14. So which one was smuggled onboard which ship for the comparison shot?
  15. I wouldn't recognize him because I don't really follow football that much (Tennessee Titans, but even then I wouldn't recognize any of them off the field). The one time I have met a football player it wasn't really a meeting. I was working in Reservations at Opryland Hotel and was doing a night mail run during Country Music Awards week. I was walking through the garden area and a kid ran in front of me and I tripped, sending my papers flying. As I finished picking them up and stood, I took a step at the same time a very large guy came around the corner and he stepped on my foot. He was very nice and apologetic. My supervisor was walking by for something and made sure I was ok, then we walked back to our office. Once we were behind closed doors, my supervisor said "Nice job keeping it cool and not flipping out." I said "Why?" And he said "You honestly didn't recognize Troy Aikman??" This was when he was dating Lorrie Morgan - and I definitely knew what he looked like, but didn't realize HOW big he was in real life since his front line was HUGE.
  16. I can imagine. I always travel solo and honestly never gave a second thought to going through customs. But I've been watching "To Catch A Smuggler" on Disney+ (it's a National Geographic show) and they'll state "single females generally raise our attention" - I guess either I look too clean or I'm not traveling from the places they're suspecting since I've never been pulled for extra scrutiny. I'm afraid I'm going to be more nervous after this though.
  17. It actually goes to when we celebrated Washington's birthday and then a week later Lincoln's birthday - before they were combined. The fuel savings came from not doing the turn the heat off/turn ir way up after 3 days off 2 weekends in a row.
  18. Thank you!! I'm fully vaxxed and triple boosted and have not been on a cruise since May. I STILL got it in January! It happens. And the vaccines never said they would 100% prevent someone getting it. The point is that if/when you DO get it, your symptoms are much more likely to be mild.
  19. IDK current information, but if the second leg was last week, a lot of schools in the Northeast (and I think California and some of the Western United States) have the week of Presidents' Day off. Currently we're in what's referred to as rolling Spring Break where odds are high that at least some kids are on Spring Break from now through Easter and the week after.
  20. I can't imagine a minimum wage job that would require someone to NOT take vacation time or to work while away. I guess I'm weird, but I'd RATHER take vacation than be told I had to work while I was gone.
  21. Pretty much this. And I maintain that if work is requiring the OP to be online during their vacation, WORK should be footing the bill for WiFi.
  22. I'm Select - so I still get a percentage off but not 30%. I have only cruised with AI so I don't know about purchasing it separately.
