  1. I think what @prmssk was referencing is her conversations with Celebrity. If it was just her and her late husband on the cruise, there was likely no one other than her that Celebrity talked with about arrangements. And in a state of grief, we don't always listen as well as we should/our mind is not fully on the conversation so she might not have heard them correctly in their discussion of removing the body in Puerto Rico.
  2. All of this...and it sometimes brings up old threads that get resurrected and then the poster is jumped on for bringing up an old thread. Catch-22.
  3. I think they mean that obnoxious thing on the arm that goes up and down and you can ride in (for an extra charge I think). Not lilterally Polaris. So if it was up in a certain position, the capsule could block the sun.
  4. I thought that was someone at a beach bar you went to, not an X employee?
  5. But...they didn't "exhaust every possibility" as that would have been asking for volunteers first before randomly cancelling people. (I have no dog in the fight as I've only pondered a Japan cruise...it's never been super high on my "want to visit" list) - but I've followed this saga.)
  6. This looks AWESOME! Would it likely be on a sea day? It's offered on the Summit to Bermuda but no day/time is given. We have 2 sea days going and 1 coming back - will it likely be one of those?
  7. The primary reason IF I ever go to Japan it will be on a cruise ship is because I do not eat fish - not cooked, and definitely not raw. I'm also gluten-free - so no noodles and even teriyaki or soy sauce isn't safe unless it's specifically gluten-free. I need to know I have food I CAN eat available, which I will on a ship.
  8. This was not on X, but... When I was on HAL to Alaska in 2014, there was a shore excursions crew member on the whale watching trip I was on (they occasionally send someone on a non-full excursion a) for quality checks and b) so they can better describe it to guests who ask about it) and she said that a couple of cruises before the one I was on, one of the helicopter excursions to a glacier and sled dog camp got stranded on the glacier because fog/weather moved in and the helicopters could not get back to the glacier to pick the people up. There were people from two different HAL ship excursions as well as people from those ships but who booked privately stuck on the glacier. The dog camp employees gave up their beds for the night so that the guests had somewhere to sleep. When they were able to get down the next day, the ship-based excursions had either a smaller boat waiting on them to get them to their ship or were taken to a train station to take a train to meet their ship. Those on private excursions (from the other ship) were having to see how the company was handling getting them back to their ship. She was unclear how that turned out - if the company was able to buy passage for them on the boat or if the company had to come up with their own boat. So yes. It can happen. (I later heard an NPR podcast where they were talking with a girl who did work at one of the sled dog camps one summer and they had passengers stuck. Not sure if it was the same incident or a different one, but it does happen.)
  9. Did they offer any compensation since you'd paid for Premium but not everything that should have worked with Premium did?
  10. Have they removed the impacted sailings from inventory for new bookings? Or are they continuing to take new bookings which will inevitably be cancelled?
  11. This may well be cruise line specific. Disney Cruise Line, for example, has a supervisor's desk at the port where people may go to see if there are any available upgrades and what the cost would be.
  12. BUT you don't get the nasty mixed taste from whatever concoction the person before you at the freestyle machines had. The only place I use those is at the movie theater - where there is no choice - and I let my selected beverage run for a couple of seconds before I put my cup underneath to clear the spout from lord only knows what flavors other people had. It usually works - but occasionally I still get a weird taste.
  13. YES! I wish more people got this. Take a moment (or a few) to address issues while on the cruise so that they can work on correcting things. After the fact, there is nothing they can do to help you.
  14. I'm 51, but yeah. I rarely need to print anything and if I do I just go to the library and do it.
  15. My biggest tip for that with the buffet is use a salad-sized plate for everything, not just the salad. Smaller surface = less food put on there.
  16. That is exactly what they are doing though. Cancelling some people randomly.
  17. Ditto. Well, IF I have checked bags (rare). I'm amazed at the number of people who still have home printers.
  18. The only reason I could possibly see is if they are close to releasing a new group of itineraries and you're pretty sure you want that but obviously can't book an exact cruise at the moment (like you want Europe 2025 which is not out yet but will be before the expiration date on the cruise later deposit). Otherwise, nope - I'll either book a specific cruise or not book at all.
  19. Yes, but some people are set in their ways and have always called it a very dry (or bone dry) cappuccino. Just like people will order an "upside down caramel macchiato" which is a vanilla latte with caramel drizzle.
  20. You're welcome! We had some regulars who would say "bone dry" rather than very dry - meant the same thing.
