  1. I'm pondering it. I don't eat fish, and I know how fish-heavy the Japanese diet is, so a cruise seems like the best way for me to visit and have safe for me food. We'll see though.
  2. THIS! My TA was on the sailing and I specifically asked her about it. She said that as far as she had been informed it was TEMPORARY.
  3. I'm still trying to figure out how the bands Carnival has are so different from Magic Bands at Disney World. I guess the location tagging thing that the Carnival bands do?
  4. Seems like the new opportunities come out a day or so before the 14th when the previous month's are given.
  5. I've never felt pressured to give more - I'm not sure they know who is pre-paying them and who isn't (and there are enough who would get AI and then demand that the tips be removed I doubt they would put much stock in any such list.) I've never bribed my stateroom host, servers, or any bartenders and I always have great service. While I may - and have - give extra money on the cruise, I know that FAR more valuable to them is mentioning them by name on comment cards and/or a letter after the cruise. That can lead to promotions and raises that are worth far more in the end than a little bit extra as a one-time thing.
  6. Biggest help... When you take off your suit, roll it in a towel and walk back and forth on the towel, then rotate the towel 1/4 and walk on it again. Gets a TON of excess water off, so it won't take as long to dry.
  7. Hmm. Another reason to just do another X cruise to use up the deposit I was stupid enough to make non-refundable and never sail on them again.
  8. Really? On Disney, if they go down, you're refunded the difference if you're already paid in full or your balance goes down if you haven't PIF yet; if they increase, Disney eats the difference. I figured refunding a difference automatically was standard procedure.
  9. Port fees and taxes sometimes go down closer to the sailing.
  10. Radiance Class and Vision Class are roughly the same guest capacity as Millennium Class...
  11. I'm confused... WAS your magnet on the door? If so, that's a mistake that he knocked. If not, he had no way of knowing people were still in the room and/or sleeping and would rightfully assume that you are out and about - or at least awake. Because no, not everyone sleeps the day away on vacation.
  12. Ah. Sorry - I misunderstood when you said solo cabin since E-class has actual solo cabins.
  13. Wait. You were in one of the Single IVs - the cabins designed for 1 person - and got double points?? You got LUCKY. Single IVs are not supposed to give double points because they are designed for solo travelers.
  14. IDK. But if I had said I was going to add it onto my account and felt pressured to give cash, whatever I was going to give would go to someone else.
  15. Not unless you're so late you're beyond departure time!
  16. Just to note for the OP that only those in suites can eat in Luminae or visit The Retreat. (Said as someone who does not cruise in suites but could have been very confused before my first Celebrity cruise if someone had mentioned Luminae or The Retreat as places to eat or go and I wasn't allowed.)
  17. Then hopefully you also know that the BEST way to show extra appreciation (besides cash tips) is to mention them by name to the line and their superiors. THAT will go much further in getting them promotions and such that will ultimately help them more than a random t-shirt.
  18. Yeah, that would be a hard pass for me. Cucumbers are not for me. (But pickle them and I'm a fan. HAHA!)
  19. BIG difference is that most hard seltzers are gluten-free. Most beers are not. So for those of us who can't have gluten, hard seltzers can be a safe alternative.
  20. Except wine is supposed to be carried on and NOT in checked bags. So you ARE in fact breaking rules putting it in checked bags. (Also if it breaks and damages other people's luggage, you'll be responsible for repair or replacement of their stuff.)
  21. I'd thought The Porch was mostly seafood though. Unless it's radically different on Beyond, Rooftop Garden Grill is more steak and such.
  22. And you can "take responsibility for your own health" by getting all the vaccines and boosters, wearing a mask, washing hands, etc. and STILL get COVID. Happened to me just after Christmas. Happened to my sister (who works on a cruise ship) in May. Happened to my parents in August. All of us fully vaxxed and boosted and all taking precautions. Everything that was said for "taking responsibility for your health" and we STILL got it.
