  1. Do yourself a favor (and save a LOT of money) and do NOT buy a private tour thru Celebrity. Either join an existing small group (check the roll call) or ask in the Ports section for recommendations.
  2. Whoever designed it should be fired-the shops are nice however
  3. I would not recommend the cruise transfer. definitely take a taxi or uber instead.
  4. good lord, the crew is not your grandkids. Yes, it may be a thoughtful gesture (in YOUR mind) but frankly it is demeaning and belittling. Give them cash and a good review - that is what the crew wants. Also, referring to a crew member as the "washy washy girl" says a lot, and not in a good way.
  5. Yes, the "service charge" is the gratuities. Tipping on this ship beyond the (pre-paid) gratuities is also not required and not expected. You are of course free to give a little extra if you so desire.
  6. Friends don't let friends take the Hoppa. Uber to hotel, or head to Southampton upon arrival.
  7. No they are not provided. If you do not check those items or bring TSA compliant carry-on sizes, you could always stop at a local store prior to boarding the ship
  8. if they strike the excursion will be cancelled. not sure what else to add. FYI this is NOT the train from Anchorage to Seward and VV.
  9. semantics. WGAS frankly. Everyone knows what I mean, sorry it bothers you. It is O’s version of the buffet, if that makes you feel better. FYI on O’s website they list a sample menu and it refers to “cold buffet” and “hot buffet” so I stand by my terminology
  10. both times on the Riviera - Feb 2019 and Feb 2020. Like the previous poster, our butler was pretty much worthless. We've had much better butlers on Celebrity and Crystal. The officers on O seemed to be distant and uninterested. Exact opposite of Celebrity. O had some of the best food (specifically the French and Asian). Steakhouse ok, Italian decent. Would do O again in a PH- I prefer all-inclusive so am looking forward to the new pricing structure.
  11. Sailed twice on the Riviera. Prettiest ship I have been on. Agree that the entertainment was mediocre and the seating area in the PH was not great. Thought the buffet was the best at sea - appreciate that no passengers handle the utensils. (every ship should be this way, IMO). Specialty restaurants good to outstanding. Service seemed not as personal as on Celebrity. I would cruise O again - it is comparable to Celebrity suites. I have not looked at their (O's) new all-inclusive pricing to see how it compares.
  12. I sent the bottles out for laundry service and they returned them the next evening, cleaned, pressed and wrapped in tissue paper, delivered in a lovely box.
  13. The OP is asking about getting OFF this ship and getting picked up right at the port. They are not asking about a transfer TO the ship in Civitaveccia.
  14. I think that Aqua is worth a small premium, but Concierge is not.
  15. Does anyone have the address for the port where navigator is docking tomorrow in Montreal? Thanks in advance
  16. I have done this a couple times on Celebrity. Once in Hong Kong and once in Singapore. The ship will be cleared by the local authorities asap once it arrives in port. we went to guest relations a few days prior to disembark and filled out a form that basically said we were not due any refund for leaving early. There were no additional charges. it was easy to get a taxi when we got off. the process should be the same in Athens
  17. On the same cruise with family. Can’t wait! Looking forward to seeing you all on board for a wonderful cruise
  18. I don’t think it’s any surprise: 1. Cruise line cutbacks due to cost cutting 2. inexperienced crew members resulting in less refined service, or understaffing resulting in lower levels of service 3. more crowded ships 4. increase in prices resulting in a lowering of perceived value 5. Increase in misbehaving customers for whatever reasons
  19. God help you if you are sent to secondary at LHR. If you have ANY liquids not in your quart bag - look out! Also if you have an unapproved bag that is larger than a quart. Or chap stick or lipstick, that is close enough to a liquid to get sent to secondary. OR fiber powder(like metamucil) . LHR is probably the worst security experience in the (non third) world And I have travelled to most of it.
  20. Trieste is a beautiful small city and I highly recommend a stay there prior to the cruise.
  21. cruise lines (like airline and hotel programs) see loyalty programs as a liability (necessary evil) Revenue is king and frankly all that really matters to these travel companies. Anyone that believes differently is frankly kidding themselves about their value to the company. "what have you done for me lately" is all that matters. Believe it.
  22. do yourself a favor and bring it yourself https://www.amazon.com/Meclizine-Generic-Chewable-Tablets-Rugby/dp/B00EMLC07O/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1DIE5RK649H7Q&keywords=meclizine+25mg+tablets&qid=1683805112&sprefix=meclizine%2Caps%2C93&sr=8-1
  23. you can take a large steamer on Carnival, no problem - the plumbing can handle it.
