  1. Maybe we could get the line to also put the passengers name and nationality on a name tag. Reminds one of something done during the 1940's. Not a great idea for either passenger nor crew.
  2. Recently booked the Panama cruise in January 2024 with an N indicated as the cabin class with a guarantee room. I notice that there are only 4 such cabins on the entire ship. How does HAL work all of the inside guarantees against just four rooms?
  3. No need for the jacket but one can still have one available by wearing it on the train trips. I do not fly and take the train and wear a proper blazer with wool slacks and dress shoes on the train and that opens up space in the suitcase.
  4. Thank you for the prompt reply. My TA checked with their supervisor and all is good. Booked as two distinct cruises and may have to move my cabin but no biggie there. By doing two distinct cruises I get two OBC from the TA plus two OBC on the stock purchase. Had originally booked the QM2 2024 world cruise but too many covid iffys and who knows what the South China sea will look like in March 2024. So HAL looks like a perfect alternative. Small ship, good food and good folk. I have done the Panama Canal both ways on Cunard and loved the cruise.
  5. I am trying to book a 15 day cruise from Ft Lauderdale to San Diego in January and then immediately return on the same ship for a 15 day cruise back to Ft Lauderdale. My TA says this is not possible as it involves two US ports. But both cruises have foreign ports in between. Anyone have a good answer to this? Someone who has done it before if possible. Thank you
  6. If you wish to sail Mickie D style I recommend a different brand entirely. Grab one of the really mass market repositioning sails. These folks know how to offer a down low low key no frills experiene for half the price of a proper Cunard sailing.
  7. Such is what happens when those who don't know how to drive a stick shift car end up burning out the clutch by riding it for a full world cruise. Oh for the days of a staff filled with adults.
  8. Pretty elitist attitude dude. Many people save a lifetime and do not have the extra juice to handle a poorly done Cunard experience.
  9. Wonder how they are handling people who for whatever reason can not or will not fly or simply do not have the financial ability to do so. May be a few new immigrants arriving in England today.
  10. Those residing above the salt are always allowed to dine below the salt if they wish but do seek permission from the appropriate Maitre'd as they may have occupancy/staffing issues on any given evening.
  11. Interesting, I also thought I was wrong once but it was the time I thought I was really wrong and that was incorrect.
  12. He or she will be the hit of the week with the older set. They love small children. Cunard makes a strong effort to accommodate all ages. However, the early dining time might be better but only you know Jrs.. tolerance for a lot of attention and when it is time to pack it in for the day. Enjoy the trip.
  13. Totally agree. I always make certain the luggage guys are happy with my bags. $20 is not to much to have the bags (All of them) on board the ship when it sails. Strange things can happen at load in if the luggage guy thinks you are a putz
  14. Much of my reference points come from real life (Age 84) or from being a student of cultural history. Read a lot of books about proper society in the Dark ages before 9/11 and Covid. And all of my postings should be considered one man's opinion with no malice to those who may feel abused by my opinions. Relax everyone. Cunard will do what Cunard does and all can either take a ride with them or not.
  15. One highly doubts that the 30 people that regularly post to this site will sway anyone one way or the other. However, I do congratulate you for being the defender of all things new in what appears to be a fear of losing "your" favorite ship to the bean counters at Carnival.
  16. Actually Britannia passengers are fourth class if you deem the two grill categories as two classes and then Britannia Cub as third class. And Britannia passengers do not get to roam the full ship being not allowed into the grill areas. So not much has changed in 100 years except the dress code.
  17. Sadly the hoopla for the 100th anniversary of what was really not a Cunard sponsored world cruise died with the heavy foot of Covid. Nice to read that all but shooting off the ship still is part of the experience though much watered down to appease the Now allowed third class passengers who simply can not to dress for the occasion.
  18. Now if Australia will come into the land of reality and not keep an out dated policy in effect, maybe cruising around the world will become a more relaxing experience.
  19. According to another travel site that offers travel advice for covid vax and testing, As of March 22, 2023 Australia has no requirements for either vax or testing if coming from the US.
  20. A bit early in the timeframe but one can never be to early when planning for a world cruise. As it looks now 9 months out, I will require 7 pieces of luggage plus a small carry on for all the blazers, trousers, tux, roaring 20's tux, white dinner jacket for "Down Under" and a large number of dress shirts for the "casual" evenings. Shoes for walking running and around the ship during the day, formal slippers, sneakers, hats, scarves ties etc. Cool weather jacket, rain jacket. Determined that it will be less expensive to rent an auto one way than to ship all of the luggage to the pier and I have total control of it all until handed off to the longshore union guys. On the return home, I will repeat the one-way rental.
  21. As long as the majority of passengers are ok with Motel 6 standards, that is what NCL will provide.
  22. Crossing the Tasman on the QE2 was exciting enough. I can imagine going that way on a 16 story apartment building will be loads of fun if they run into even the slightest dust up of weather.
  23. Probably find many takers on the last QM2 world cruise 2024 before Cunard puts tradition in the closet for good.
  24. Toasted bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon = Snowy Nova on a Toasted B. NYC delicatessen language.
  25. Why would they remove French Toast? Simple low cost item. Also do they still offer a snowy nova and a toasted B?
