  1. Check the deck plan before booking a PHB. Some have large balconies and some have smaller balconies. We had a PHB with the shallow balcony. As I recall there was a table with two chairs and one lounger on our balcony.
  2. If you like to sit on the balcony and watch the view through the glass balcony wall you might have a problem with the forward facing PHs since they have solid steel walls. We like the layout of the Penthouse on Splendor. We have different sleep schedules and appreciate the separate sleeping and sitting rooms. Now if the TV connected to Bluetooth headphones… Although it doesn’t feel like it to us we must be light packers. On our cruise in a Splendor Penthouse we had several empty drawers. Of course YMMV.
  3. We were on Mariner last October. The decor is obviously dated but I did not notice excessive wear and tear, although I admit it would have to be fairly serious for me to notice. On our cruise service suffered compared to our previous experience, both pre and post pandemic. I attributed it to cream-skimming to staff Grandeur. From reports more recent that appears to be a glitch rather than a trend. We won’t be on Mariner again until August of ‘25, just before the refurb and we are looking forward to it.
  4. We were on this cruise last year in May. I thought all of our guides were good. All of our guides in Turkey were good, and they all worked for the same large company. You can probably get contact information from one of your guides to make arrangements for a day tour after the cruise.
  5. I don’t know about Voyager but when I was getting ready to book a Horizon View suite on Mariner, which has a somewhat similar layout, I asked pretty much the same question you did. the feedback I received was that rooms above the bandstand in the Horizon Lounge heard music late at night and folks on deck 10 furniture being moved in La Veranda. I don’t know how this info relates to Voyager.
  6. There is also dancing after the show in the Meridian Lounge.
  7. We have a Horizon View suite reserved for next year. As I recall the butler request form has a newspaper selection section and as @DaveFr said there is a charge per day.
  8. How do they want you to prepay if they don’t take credit cards?
  9. The listed departure time is when the ship is scheduled to cast off. All Aboard time is generally thirty minutes before that for passengers although I would certainly allow some extra buffer time. Bear in mind that arrival and departure times can change based on a variety of factors during the cruise.
  10. “Plus some OBC”. It would be informative to know the amount.
  11. I’ve used Nord VPN for several years and cruises. I never had any issues until the LA to MIA cruise on Grandeur in January. Somewhere around Guatemala or Costa Rica I was unable to connect via VPN until near the end of the cruise. The error message in Nord made it sound like the ISP or country was blocking somehow.
  12. Tote bags are included in Concierge and above. I have seen anecdotes of bags in Categories F - H but I wouldn’t bank on it.
  13. Thanks @welshfamily given a choice I fly United, or Star Alliance. I’ve spent most of my life living in towns where United was the easiest airline to arrange. My home town was the destination for United’s first flight so they definitely had a foothold by the time I started traveling. But if another airline is better for a particular routing then so be it.
  14. Thanks so much for this review. We're booked on a Scenic Duoro cruise in June, 2025. We will be on the 8-day version in order to coordinate with a Regent British Isles cruise a couple of days later. We will arrive in Porto a day or two early. Do you recommend the hotel you stayed in after your cruise?
  15. Thanks @eroller it would have saved us both some time if I had done this before but I looked at SOU on Google Maps and yes, a tiny airport.
  16. We recently booked a Southampton to Southampton cruise for 2025. The included air on the guest statement has us flying in and out of SOU(Southampton). Nobody ever mentions SOU when discussing cruises to/from Southampton. Does Regent actually book flights using SOU or is LHR the airport they default to? I just looked at the confirmation for an Alaska cruise this June and they have SWD as the departure airport from Alaska. Obviously in that case they are just using the port code for Seward even though the actual flight home will be from ANC. I am assuming that's why SOU is shown as the airport for our Southampton flights, but I'm a little uncertain because SOU is an actual airport. The flights starting in SOU are not very attractive to me but they do exist. Has anyone on this board actually used SOU for their flights?
  17. We missed our first cruise due to an injury en route to Alaska. We were refunded taxes and fees plus I think a Regent Choice excursion. This was back in 2017 and my memory is hazy re the excursion.
  18. I have only ever cruised Regent so I don’t have direct knowledge but I think many people on other lines use roll calls to arrange cost-sharing on excursions. Since most Regent cruisers use excursions managed by Regent cost-sharing is not an issue. More specifically to Alaska cruising I think it’s often the gateway cruise for newbies(it certainly was for us). On our first cruise we met very few experienced Regent cruisers and nobody who was on CC.
  19. The key is both legs being on the same airline to get the domestic first class. Our home airport is MFR, which is much smaller than Pittsburgh with I suspect many fewer flights and destinations. It’s nice to hear that Regent will choose the good connection on their own, but as you noticed they don’t commit to it in writing. We deviate so we can book our flights well in advance to maximize our chance of decent connections and domestic first class. I fear that if we leave it to Regent and don’t like the itinerary it will be too late to improve it by deviation close to departure.
  20. Was your Pittsburgh to Houston flight in coach or first class? Same airline all the way or different airlines?
  21. Do you remember the line item title for the Gold OBC? I have several OBCs listed for a June cruise(turned Gold last October) but can’t tell if one is the Gold. Was it specific on your invoice?
  22. That’s a huge air credit for a European cruise. It looks like they’re expecting to pay retail.
  23. Was 3/4 inch too thick or too thin?
