  1. We were in a Concierge suite on Deck 7 aft of the aft elevators. On one side we could occasionally hear the TV or conversation. On the other side they were apparently sick and we could very clearly hear them coughing. A lot. We never saw them but sure did hear them. Speaking of illness, this was our first cruise in a while where we never heard much coughing, other than our neighbors. Also the first time since before the pandemic that neither of us got sick onboard or during our first few days at home. (Knocking wood).
  2. Not so sure about that. We turned Gold in October and did not receive luggage tags. Maybe Platinum?
  3. They do reserve once onboard. If you know which excursions you want I recommend joining the line at the Destination Services desk on Deck 5 to make your requests. If your choice is not available then they can put you on the waitlist. we had success with that earlier this month. You’ll read many complaints about Destination Services, but our experience with the team on Grandeur was very positive.
  4. We also just got off the LA to Miami cruise. We had our reservations early in the cruise. About mid-cruise we wanted to eat at Pacific Rim again. I went to the reservation desk in the afternoon and was offered one shared table and two tables for two that night. It was similar for Chartreuse a few nights later. The only restaurant we had any trouble with was Sette Mare which was quite popular.
  5. The balconies on all suites at the front or back of Grandeur have solid walls. If you have one of the upper suites with wrap-around balconies the balconies facing to Port or Starboard are not solid and I think also not plexiglass but open with teak rails and steel rods to prevent going overboard.
  6. We are on Grandeur now. For us it has been a generally outstanding experience. If Regent had put a little more sound isolation between the suites we would have no complaints. Even Destination Services has been a joy to deal with.
  7. My experience is that waitlists clear. That being said I recently booked a British Isles cruise for June, 2025 and after reading this thread I will sign in to book excursions the minute they open.
  8. Penthouse B does indeed have a much larger balcony than Penthouse C. We have stayed in a Penthouse C on Splendor. The smaller balcony didn’t bother us much as our cruise was a Norway/Baltic cruise and the weather was fairly cool. From the door to the railing Penthouse B is the same as a Concierge which is quite spacious.
  9. I get it. I just looked at your signature and see your cruise was 15 years ago. I certainly can’t remember the details of what I was doing in 2008. Those ginger pills sound interesting. My wife was a little queasy last night and I got her some candied ginger from Compass Rose. She ate one of them and decided she’d rather be sick. I’ll be on the lookout for those pills.
  10. They had some very nice looking hot dogs at the pool grill today, although I went with the chicken cordon blue(sp). After last night’s overindulgence I drank water but the wine choices looked good too. Aside from the unseasonably cold weather, which I blame on Corporate, the experience so far has been excellent.
  11. Just curious, how do you watch waves crashing g over the bow from the Horizon Lounge?
  12. I have read quite a few posts on WC live reports about art/craft classes such as needlepoint or scrapbooking. Maybe some watercolors.
  13. I booked Concierge or higher until I hit Gold mostly for the four internet logins. Having hit that milestone we booked a F2 on Grandeur in 2026 last month.
  14. I have carried a three-socket extension cord for years. Never had any pushback from the cruise line(Regent or Scenic). My most recent Regent cruise was in October.
  15. Thanks bitob. I’ll be boarding Grandeur next week and will bear that in mind as I get connected.
  16. I think I had the VPN running when I logged in during our Mariner cruise in October. What is the benefit of logging in without the VPN?
  17. You can see more than six per category by making your search more specific. For example if you are searching for category E cabins you will be shown six cabins, probably on Deck 10. Specify Deck 8 and you will see six cabins(if available) on Deck 8. Select Port or Starboard and you will see six cabins on the port or starboard side of Deck 8, etc. It can be a pain in the neck but eventually you will get a much better idea of cabin availability. Of course if you know a website that shows all available cabins with one search just use that.
  18. A possible ray of sunshine…. An acquaintance of my wife is departing on a world cruise (not Regent) January 2 that goes up the Amazon. Of 2,000 passengers about 3 have their visas. Apparently the cruise line has agreed to let passengers aboard if they have at least submitted the paperwork to Brazil. If that’s correct maybe Regent will do the same?
  19. Thanks for the helpful replies. I just booked 875 for a Grandeur Southampton to Southampton cruise in June, 2025. We'll find out just how important the coffee maker and cashmere blankets are to us in Concierge.
  20. It wouldn’t break my heart to see a bottle of Tres Estrellas on the shelf either. I have a warm feeling for that one as it was the first rum I ever tasted that I could stand to drink straight.
  21. After reading about the tub/shower combos I would add Mariner to the list of ships to not book guarantees.
  22. I am planning a cruise on Grandeur in 2025. I think I'm going to book a F1 or F2 for this cruise. Looking at the deck plan I see four F1 suites at the stern on Decks 7 and 8. The equivalent suites on Deck 9 are Concierge. I'm attracted to these suites because they appear to have the large balcony of a Concierge suite. Suite Guru does not have any reviews of these suites. I'm curious if anyone has stayed in one of these suites, or the Cat E suites at the back of Deck 9? How was the experience? Also, aside from the longer walk to the elevator why are these suites a lower category than the ones just in front of them? Thanks for any input.
  23. @pingpong1 I’m not sure the hundred or so people on the cruise critic Regent board talking about something really qualifies as “publicity”.
  24. We needed a visa for Turkey earlier this year. Regent facilitated the process for $99. I could have done it myself for $50. I had plenty of other things to do and I paid the $99.
  25. You could print out the bank statement, black out the account number, then scan the statement into a file to be submitted online. Your name on the statement should be enough to prove it’s yours. I have a scanner which makes it easy. If you don’t have a scanner but do have an iPhone you can use the Notes app to scan your documents. I imagine android phones have a similar feature.
