  1. The end of an era to say the least.
  2. If Carnival was still a 2019 experience, I would have no problem paying higher prices. But they can't cut the experience to the bone and expect me to pay higher prices as well. It's one thing to be expected to pay $5 for a PB&J sandwich when the cruise was dirt cheap. But I'm not paying 2019 prices for 2022 Carnival, sorry...
  3. Been there done that, went on another line last week and had a great time. But I reject the notion that because I am being honest that Carnival cuts a chicken thigh into thirds and tries to tell guests that cut up hot dogs are breakfast sausage, I am somehow miserable.
  4. I wonder if the casino is still going to give free bottles of liquor to their guests on the ultra cruises?
  5. DRAT! I am usually good at noticing that! LOL
  6. I recommend you contact Carnival’s special needs department in case you need to carry on more than 12 shakes so that you will have something in writing from Carnival in case they say anything at the pier.
  7. The Thrill Theater only exists on Vista and Horizon. The non-smoking Casino replaced the Thrill Theater on Breeze.
  8. Oh that is pure speculation on my part. I think they'll cut more meals and hours before they get to the point of cafeteria style, it's too expensive from a labor perspective (even though Carnival pays very little for labor).
  9. They've cut waste at the buffet by cheapening the ingredients - you've never seen so much rice as a Carnival buffet, and the sausage on the breakfast buffet is just cut up hot dogs. If you're lucky enough to get actual sausage on your cruise, you'll notice it's just Banquet brown n' serve links. They will cut a chicken thigh into three pieces and that is one portion. They provide smaller plates and don't provide trays (and the kids cups for drink). If they wanted to, they could make it more cafeteria style and have crew serve the guests from the buffet like the cake buffet is now - but that would probably require more staff, not sure if they want to go down that rabbit hole. But that is probably next.
  10. Carnival has greatly diluted their product since COVID, I have played the field as well so to speak and short of a free casino cruise or a family cruise, my wife and I will not be sailing on a "Fun Ship" again until things start to reverse course.
  11. Carnival has greatly reduced portion sizes so for somebody with a big appetite I could see 2 still leaving them wanting. There was a time in my life when I could eat like that.
  12. It means 19 AFT, as in the location on the ship. How much money is 19 AFT? Reading is fundamental. Price $15 is BOLD, I don't see how there could be confusion for a sentient human being. Carnival really is attracting a new clientele these days if this is confusing their guests!
  13. You could have billed it to the free drink if you wanted but would have had to pay the $1 overage. Since you had Cheers there would be no reason to do that though. You're only going to get 15 drinks at most out of them anyway so paying the overage is silly when you could get it included in Cheers.
  14. The screen shot isn’t confusing to me…it’s pretty clear it’s $15 per ride. So either it was $19 before and Carnival fixed the error or something else is going on.
  15. Two cutbacks (printed funtimes and chocolates) in one post. Actually three if you consider the related turndown service that is also gone. That's got to be a record, Shaky.
  16. Tons per passenger only tells part of the story. A smaller ship like the Ecstasy may technically have more tons per guest, but only have two or three lounges for passengers to go to in the evening, whereas the Horizon may have three times that amount. So even though it holds more guests there are more choices for what the guests do so they are spread out more.
  17. Some cruises (and some bar waiters) are better than others as far as getting bar service in the Casino.
  18. Sunshine was Destiny, but it's still the same ship. They renovated the interiors but the hull, engines, etc., are all still from 1996.
  19. It'll be fine on Dodge Island or whatever its home port is. And ports like Nassau will adapt. But tender ports will be extinct before long. There's no way you can tender that many guests efficiently.
  20. I like the larger ships for the variety of things to do, but I like the smaller ships because it doesn’t take 20 minutes to get to what you want to do. So I guess all things considered the Conquest class size is where I like to be. I could go a little bigger or smaller, say down to Sunshine or up to Dream/Vista, but I’m not sure I’m ready for XL Class (or Oasis class for that matter!)
  21. The new big ships can hold twice the number of guests as the smaller ships, but don’t use twice as much fuel or crew. They are cheaper for the cruise lines to operate and will be the way forward for the mass-market lines.
  22. If you have any time dining you will be seated at a table for two each night anyway. You might be mere inches from your neighbor’s table but you’ll have a table of your own.
