  1. Not at all. In fact DW wanted to buy some but we found out it’s private label manufactured for Viking.
  2. When we took the Chilean Fjords expedition cruise in October, we were informed that barbecue in Patagonia means a whole animal. This was lunch for one of the excursions:
  3. Again, it depends on the TYPE of OBC. We have one for our next cruise (and have for previous cruises) where it’s clearly stated it can be used for excursions. For those OBCs, it’s used when you pay for the excursions.
  4. It depends on the type of credit issued. FYI using the ACH bank transfer is faster. It can be pre-entered, unlike credit card info.
  5. We were on the Octantis last October and they had a lecture on sea birds. They have a gland in their head that removes the salt from their system.

  7. Villa Borghese Gallery is one of my favorite places to visit in Rome. Bernini's Apollo and Daphne is the most incredible sculpture I've ever seen. I hope you make it. Good luck.
  8. This is essentially the Longitudinal World Cruise without the Antarctica leg. Probably had little demand without also going to Antartica. Could be this was added after the full LWC was not filled. It’s a repositioning cruise of the Polaris and Octantis and it’s possible to book the legs in two separate segments (back to back, Ushuaia to FTL; FTL to Canada/Great Lakes) and get the same results. They currently have not bundled them as a separate itinerary. We were on the Chilean Fjords leg in October. It was fantastic. That portion I highly recommend. Here is the closest current version: https://www.vikingcruises.com/expeditions/cruise-destinations/grand-journeys/longitudinal-world-cruise-i/index.html
  9. There are robes available in the spa lockers, No need to walk through the ship half dressed.
  10. Yes, but all the June sailings were removed due to the Olympics so there are fewer total sailings available next year. That translates into demand potentially exceeding supply and no need to discount.
  11. We didn’t take this exact tour but we were on the Viking Tuscany post-cruise extension. In reading the description it seems almost identical to the day we spent in Florence with the exception of visiting the Academy. (We visited it and many other places on a previous trip when we stayed several days.) There is so much to see in Florence. No day tour can do it justice but our tour guide did an excellent job showing us the highlights while walking throughout the city. Here is a writeup of our day in Florence from January: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2906353-almost-live-viking-sky-journey-to-antiquities-jan-2023/?do=findComment&comment=64737534
  12. There are two forward elevators and 4 midship elevators. The forward shafts are more convenient to get to the Star Theater where, besides lectures and entertainment, all your tours start from there. Midship elevators with the glass widows have gnomes hiding in the forest, so it’s a toss up. As far as cabins, we prefer the aft DV1s where the wake is mesmerizing.
  13. France hosts the Olympics next summer. Viking has modified some of the river voyages to accommodate.

  15. We also did the shoex to Tarquinia. Since it was Easter Sunday and we've been to Rome before, we decided to take this marvelous tour that is just a short drive up the coast. Here is my review from April of this year: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2927474-almost-live-viking-sky-mediterranean-odyssey-april-2023/?do=findComment&comment=65232669

  17. Vouchers are only available on Viking River, where you can’t book future cruises. Viking Ocean and Expedition allow you to book onboard and receive other discounts/OBC, so no vouchers.
  18. We just booked! Looking forward to meeting you again.
  19. FYI They just added a 2026 date. Unfortunately the October 2025 date wasn’t announced when we were on our Expedition cruise in October, all others were sold out, so we missed out on the onboard booking benefits/discounts.
  20. Now that more dates were added, we’re considering that route. Our Japan land trip was canceled in 2020 because of COVID. What date are you booked?
  21. Typically additional tours are added. Sometimes it will show “sold out” if the arrangements with the tour operator aren’t finalized or there is some other issue. What itinerary and how far out are you?
  22. 2026 dates are now open. New itineraries for China. An invitation to explore China in Viking comfort We are delighted to share first with you, our valued past travelers, that we have three new ocean voyages giving Viking guests exclusive access to coastal China in 2024. With these all-inclusive, fully guided journeys, you can discover the best of China the Viking way, with experiences designed to introduce you to the people, culture and cuisine of this fascinating country. For more than 15 years, Viking explored the Yangtze River and China’s iconic sites—the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and the Terra Cotta Warriors—and with our new itineraries we are offering the unique opportunity to explore seldom-seen coastal ports to which only Viking has access, as well as the most celebrated landmarks. We invite you to learn more about these new itineraries and why China is such a captivating destination in a video from Viking Executive Vice President Karine Hagen. 23. We cancelled both of our reservations. On our last 2 Ocean cruises we were disappointed with Manfredi’s. When we saw that The Restaurant had the exact same main course as the World Cafe, we decided to cancel. The food on the Explorer ships are definitely the best we have experienced. Having a steak house quality grill, sushi bar, seafood buffet, bakery, and incredible desserts every night made it an easy decision. Plus, we didn’t want to miss nightly trivia.
