  1. Hi Screenshot from ‘Windy’ app.
  2. It happened to P&O Britannia during a storm in Palma Majorca in August. The winds blew the ship across the harbour where it collided with a tanker. This video shows the mooring lines snapping. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjKl7eK16CCAxUMWsAKHY-hBa0QtwJ6BAgHEAI&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D4pdNcNjxtM4&usg=AOvVaw1_evyu85n1tIQrVN0b81kq&opi=89978449
  3. Old wives tale says Port & Brandy for upset stomachs.
  4. Hi I like the basic Jameson’s as a chaser with a Guinness,,,for sipping a Teeling or a Redbreast is good. The lack of a better Irish on Celebrity I would go for the MacAllan but too many Scotch whisky’s are to Smokey for me.
  5. Hi Did the train once takes the same time as Eavesway coaches from Liverpool and often the coach is cheaper. There are trains every hour, two at the same time sometimes. On with one change at Wolverhampton,,,the other with two changes at Wolverhampton and Crew,,,,,,the one with two changes often arrives in Liverpool a couple of minutes earlier than the one with one change,,,both just over 5 hours. The first one to suit self disembark is at 08:15.
  6. Hi Try the Irish whiskey.much smoother. I bought a bottle of Teelings whiskey in Gibraltar last week….lovely.
  7. You usually won’t see a plumber fixing the toilet in your cabin there is nothing in there for him to fix. All the workings for the toilet are behind a panel in the corridor,,,most times he may have to take out the panels for several cabins until he finds the one who has been flushing the wet wipes down the pan. When he came the second time and the toilet flushed,,,he probably fixed it first time without the occupants noticing. Usually thought reception will phone you to confirm it’s now working.
  8. ICF Why do you come up with these comments re reviews you can ‘trust’ or as in the past where you say reviews that tell the ‘truth’,that implies that reviews you don’t agree with aren’t trustworthy or the reviewer is telling lies.
  9. Celebrity Silhouette arrived in Southampton 12 hours late yesterday,,,too late to start her TA. She is still in Southampton now boarding passengers for the TA.
  10. Hi ’Left over’ as in ‘not used’ not left overs from a plate. Have you never heard the story told by Liverpool seamen on Cunard voyages to USA or Canada. The purser had so much money to feed the crew on the crossing but instead of 7 days he would only buy food for 6 days and pocket the rest in cahoots with the galley staff. On day 7 with no food left they would lift the duckboards and brush up all the meat and put it in a mixer to make pasties. The first thing the crew did in Liverpool would be to throw all the mixers into Canada Dock,,,there must be hundreds down there. I know some of those old timers they would never eat pasties calling them ‘lucky bags’. Remember that when you next choose a pasty in the buffet.😏😂
  11. If you ever go on a RB cruise there is a Fish & Chip shack on the quay in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. Fish straight from the boat, into the batter to the fryer to the plate,,,beautiful. ps,,is Curry becoming the British National dish? Every cruise ship buffet I go in seems to be taken over by Curry. Once left over Chicken,Beef,Lamb from the night before dinner was next days lunch casserole or stew,,,now it seems to go into Curries The green beans go into the Veggie Curry.😏
  12. Was in Valencia on Friday on Marella Voyager docked next to Britannia. Voyager shuttle dropped of in the usual place next to the Towers in the centre. Walk through the archway and you are in the Cathedral square. Britannia did indeed drop of at the Science Park a long long walk into the city, met lots of unhappy P&Oers.
  13. Hi On Saver you can pay a few pounds more to select location of cabin. When I book it I choose Mid Aft that way you won’t get Aft or Forward. The categories are ‘Aft—-Mid aft—Mid—Mid forward—Forward.
  14. Hi Be prepared,,,,,Celebrity ship in Iceland in June 2009,,,it was cold.😏
  15. Hi It would be a shame to go to Iceland and not do the Golden Circle tour,,,it’s on the must do list. There is private tours that do it,,my time it was Saga Travel Iceland,,,,8 in a 12 seater mini bus.
  16. Hi ICF I don’t really care that your opinions differ from mine,,,we all have different opinions about numerous things,,but like I said last week in a reply you made to me… You keep saying ‘That’s the truth’ at the end of your opinion,,,that intimates that everyone else is lying or as it was a reply to me,that I was lying. That was personal. There is a true saying ‘You are entitled to your own opinion but you are not entitled to your own facts’. Now like you I’ll take a break.
  17. Hi ICF Just for info…….I am male. Can I put one reasonable question to you? Why are P&O pricing Iona and Arvia so low? If every cruise was full dynamic pricing would push pricing way higher than that. I saw one cruise priced at £349 today,,,surely no cruise line can survive selling cruises at that price. And I can’t imagine P&O being a charity.
  18. The elephant in the room is indeed Southampton. Go on any cruise social media site and ask why people don’t want to sail P&O and the major dislike is the limited itineraries from Southampton. Whilst the topic was young ones sailing,,I’m my experience the younger demographic want summer holidays not winter holidays in the Caribbean,,,if it was P&O would put every ship in the Caribbean. ps,,not to really want a reprise of old arguments you always seem to refer to Iona & Arvia as being the best thing since sliced bread and you seem to make a lot of assumptions about what people think…… Well let me tell you the worst cruise I can ever remember was on Iona during half term in February,,it was absolute chaos. Also as someone who never gets to bed until after midnight I can’t see how someone who drinks in one bar and goes to bed at 22:00 can actually tell me the entertainment is brilliant,,it wasn’t in February.
  19. Read my post…. Arvia does 14 nighters to reach the sun,,,,,younger cruisers want 7 night cruises. They don’t want to sail for 3 days before seeing the sun,,then 3 days back,,,they want to see places not see sea days,,,,I did when I was young a long time ago. Marella (a so called cheap cruise line like P&O is becoming.) does 14 night cruises with 12 ports,,,,P&O do 14 nights to the Med with if you are lucky 6. The Fijords are a good 1st time option,,,but after a few they become boring. I was talking about cruises from Southampton,so the Caribbean doesn’t come into in,,Btw I have read some people can fly to FL and pick up a Carnival or Celebrity ship for the Caribbean for not much more than a P&O ship. If you were younger with kids what would you pick for a Caribbean cruise,,,Carnival ship built for kids,or a vastly superior Celebrity experience or P&O?
  20. The big elephant in the room is Southampton,,,,it’s the young the ones who are feeling the squeeze economically,,,they won’t want to do 14 days cruises to reach the sun. They will soon get fed up with the Fijords or Hamburg or Geurnsey. The will fly direct to the sun and spend on a 7 nightMSC cruise or like myself a Marella cruise. I will cruise P&O as a fill in but for a cruise in the sun fly to Palma to pick up a ship and instant sunshine. I say Palma or even Barcelona,,,,,but not Malta as OH will only fly 2hr flights,,,like many other oldies.
  21. Fred Olsen is £25 a day for the DP,,,lowest I’ve seen for a pay for.
  22. Hi Leeds to Southampton=234 miles. Liverpool to Southampton=227 miles. I have never done it by coach in 5 hrs,,,,Eavesway leaves Burtonwood at 07:45 arrives between 13:30–14:00. Always only one comfort stop for drivers regulation rest stop. Intercruises (Ellisons) coaches were arriving same time as Eavesway at 13:30 for Iona cruise in February.
  23. Didn’t I read here some of these aircraft are being used as cargo,,,when they put the seats back in couldn’t they leave a few rows out to at least give those who booked PE some leg room.
