Carnival's new menu's put Celebrity's to shame
Jeremiah1212 replied to Cruisegoer's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The first thing that came to mind for me was it sound very American. Like what you would find at TGI Friday's or Applebees. Not a dig at them, but that's probably inline with what most Carnival cruisers want. The first menu appetizers are: Pasta with lamb (odd for an appetizer - definitely not Italian) Duck rolls (?) Shrimp cocktail a la 1961 (Celebrity is guilty of this too) Mixed green salad Ceasar salad Tomato soup Wild rice soup with chicken Hardly imaginative items here.... -
All of the big players use this same vendor. https://www.plusgrade.com/partners/ Bottom line is...no one knows and if they do know, they aren't going to tell you. It's not just your gross bid amount. It's also considering the chain reaction of subsequent bids that also generate revenue. The highest bidder isn't necessarily going to initiate a series of moves that brings in the most money. If your initial cabin category is one that is in demand like an SV or potentially AQ, you may have slightly better chances, especially if you're moving from an SV on E Class ships.

Effective 10/4/23 Changes inc price Adjustments
Jeremiah1212 replied to MAXII's topic in Celebrity Cruises
You’re incorrect. The original post is a screenshot from a travel agents website. Not a Celebrity announcement. Any change outlined in the above alway shifts to the prevailing rate and promotion. MoveUp awards do not. What I posted is the updated All Included FAQ straight from Celebrity which is in line with how MoveUps have always worked. You keep your existing inclusions. -

My suggestion would be between sailaway and dinner if I had to pick embarkation day.
-
People will chime in dissecting check-in time vs. boarding time. Ignore that. No one follows the check-in time anymore. Just keep in mind that half the ship tries to get on first or early. You can safely assume you will be on board somewhere around noon. The spa on embarkation day is really hectic since they do tours and allow everyone to come in and oooh and ahhh. Not sure I would recommend scheduling any treatments until sailaway time or sometime after.

You can summarize this thread easily. 17 pages mentioning nearly every mainstream cruise line out there ranging from $350/night to $3,500+/night. Honestly not a whole lot to be gained.

Why is RCL pricing higher than Celebrity?
Jeremiah1212 replied to chiguypaul's topic in Celebrity Cruises
If only it were that simple. RCI frequently has kids sail free or reduced 3/4 person rates that make it cheaper for families than Celebrity since they rarely offer a discount targeted at the 3/4 passenger. A lot of people choose RCI because they want the circus at sea. Then they turn around and buy Royal's expensive drink package and spend a fortune on activities and upgrades. A lot of people think Celebrity is too stuffy and boring so it's not even on their radar. There is more to the equation than just the bottom line price. -
You cannot do this on Celebrity. You would have to find a cruise line that embarks in Aruba (or potentially Curacao if you could get there) then disembark in Florida. There is one single Silversea cruise that allows embarking in Curacao and ends in Fort Lauderdale in Nov 2024.

Why is RCL pricing higher than Celebrity?

Any suite on Royal at 3k must be on a short 3/4 night cruise. Maybe Vision class on a 7 nighter? I definitely would not say their suite product is way cheaper by any means, especially once you get past Junior Suites that offer nothing other than a little more space. On newer Royal ships their JS product is priced nearly even with Celebrity Sky Suites. Then you get to pay $60-100 pp/pd extra for drinks if you want a package and another $20 pp/pd for WiFi. -
Are Celebrity alienating UK Passengers if so why?
Jeremiah1212 replied to scottie920's topic in Celebrity Cruises
It works both ways. Two different markets. When the GB site has a better offer than the US site like the Fly Cruise deals, more OBC, etc. people booked in the US can’t take advantage of it either. -
Celebrity Cruises' "Best Price Guarantee" is a lie.
Jeremiah1212 replied to RomanH's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The explanation may not have been great but the key point for Exciting Deals is the price applies only to new bookings. Gotta read the fine print. *Offer applies to new individual bookings and to staterooms in non-contracted group bookings, which must be named and deposited during the Offer Period. Offer is capacity controlled, availability varies by sailing, and eligible staterooms may sell out. -
That would be higher than the typical price lately. I haven’t seen the regular price over $10 in a while. The new pricing faq is quoting a base pre-discount basic to premium upgrade price at $9.99 for one device. Just book it 🤷♂️

Celebrity used to be a step above the rest....Not anymore
Jeremiah1212 replied to tiggypooo's topic in Celebrity Cruises
I would add 1. Their shoreside customer service is horrendous. Hope you don’t have any issues. 2. Leaving YC can be an experience all in itself. 3. If you don’t enjoy the 80’s Vegas strip club aesthetic it may not be for you. It’s hard to believe some of their ships are only a few years old. -
The shift on vaping was definitely a result of feedback. So was the cookie drama. I think they were flabbergasted by the outrage over a $2 optional cookie. No one screams about the price of gelato, the drinks not covered by a package, the charge for deli sandwiches from Le Grand Bistro (which are delicious) but something about a $2 cookie really caused distress for some people. Structural pricing changes are different since those are undoubtedly coming from higher up the ladder and carry significantly more weight (like dollars in the tens of million). Sheer passenger volume. In 2002 there were approximately 8.6 million cruise passengers globally. In 2019 that was 29.7 million. The projection for 2027 is 39.5 million. And to put it bluntly the amount of able to cruise loyalists that were cruising Celebrity 25-30 years ago are no longer around. That base is shrinking. There has definitely been some attrition as people move to other lines but that is to be expected.

SOURCE OF NEW X CRUISERS : new cruisers or coming from other lines,
Jeremiah1212 replied to hcat's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The length of 7 night itineraries has grown because that's where the money is, but if you look at today to the end of 2025 deployment that is available there are 51% are 7 days or shorter, 49% 8 days or longer. To say that there are limited or few longer cruises just isn't accurate. There are plenty of options. 7 day cruises in particular are only 27% of the cruises offered for sale today. -

Mostly new to cruise Gen X and Millenials who are starting to replace to Boomer+ as that segment ages. This is CLIA's latest research: https://cruising.org/-/media/clia-media/research/2023/2023-clia-state-of-the-cruise-industry-report_low-res.ashx -
I'm always surprised to see people considering Princess and Celebrity, especially E class, on the same field. My Princess experience is fairly limited but it just doesn't have the same feel IMO. You can feel the Carnival influence. The Sun looks nice enough but it's priced right alongside Celebrity for the most part until you reach upper suite level where Sun doesn't offer similar cabin.

I can't tell if you're serious or not. Rest assured, the internet pandemonium over a cookie. A cookie. Has been laid to rest. If she didn't have to be so professional I think her response would have been more along the lines of "we heard the feedback (and outrage) over the optional $2 spend, 🖕the cookies and let's move on.
