  1. she did this year while we were in Hilo......it was in the wintergreen...
  2. Damn ill miss you…. Make sure my office is nice and clean when you vacate it! Regards
  3. Oamaru although a Victorian deep port wouldn't be deep enough for a modern cruise ship, although I agree it has lots for a tourist to do, especially compared to Timaru (all due respect), Timaru is deeper and possibly why they are calling there. but this part of the South Island between Christchurch and Dunedin are sadly neglected by the cruise industry. Hopefully people will still discover them.
  4. aloha darling Patti, the ship is not the same without you both..... I get on the 25 February through to the 28th April then a week in London then through the states and home. Sadly not to Hawaii this year....best regards....R
  5. awwwwww... you flatter me Richard....blog forthcoming... http://exitviathegiftshop.blogspot.com myriads of elves sewing as we speak.....
  6. Can I thoroughly recommend Oamary and its victorian quarter. One of the largest surviving Victorian quarters left in the world. A link to a magazine article I wrote is here... https://roscoesseafever.blogspot.com/2023/07/the-new-otago-gold-rush-published.html It is truly a hidden wonder and I am afraid...Timaru has probably lest excitement's for a days excursions.
  7. Great News! Worked a treat! Thankyou, much appreciated.
  8. yes thanks, Ive already had the benefit in facts Im now close to having paid off the cost of them but this is the first time ive had a problem applying for it. It will at least cover one night in the Gin Fizz bar .....
  9. thanks and yes all I do is the statement with the voyage details etc. I was reading somewhere that carnival had changed it to some app and was requesting annual income etc....it sounded like a real scam but there is a thread on another carnival thread and people claimed it was the new legit way to get the benefits. Your method sounds much more reliable for a luddite like me...ha. ill wait and see if it works this time. regards ps...two minutes later an acknowledgement of receipt...so half way there!
  10. thanks, Ill try it now, its for the Wc so getting onto it now. I'll let you know....best regards,,,
  11. I just had my request for shareholder benefits bounced back and even though it was sent to the US email adores which is the normal one a reply came form the UK address saying they didn't deal with anything not booked in the UK or Europe. I sent it two more times.....same repp once. Remembering there was a number of posts...which I didn't read I admit about shareholder benefits and Ive searched back to page 12 and not found it and ym search button only brings up princess and seaborne posts I was wondering if any one had a link or knowledge about a change in system.??? Is there a new website called Stockperks? or something that we have to apply from now??? only look for replies regarding US or Australasia shares...thanks...I know that the UK ones go through the shareholderbenefits.UK site thanks....Roscoe
  12. rudder???? The Queen Victoria doesn't have a rudder! social media....experts......bah!
  13. I'm getting onto the Queen Victoria on the 25 February for the last half of the world cruise - 2024 Auckland to Southampton and then back through the States to NZ, If you flick back on this blog to its start it covers the 2016 WC and follows the WC's since then. http://exitviathegiftshop.blogspot.com
  14. John...Itin for QV? any luck? hate to think she won't be doing the WC from now which means I will have to travel to Europe now if I wish to get back on board which is a bore.
  15. omg John, that lists NZ as being part of the QM2 WC and Cunard in the past had said that she would not return to NZ until they built a new berth or a dolphin to accommodate her in Auckland.. Thrilled she is returning as she has been missed and curious of what machinations have gone on in the background.
  16. sorry Essie I disagree, Cape Canaveral zeroed out on the 2016 world cruise as did FL the next day. As someone said - its up to Homeland security and we all know they are a law unto themselves so I don't think anyone can predict 100%.
  17. Hi John, yes we did call to St Helena during the world cruise 2016 http://exitviathegiftshop.blogspot.com/2016/04/st-helena.html was a terrific sail past and Im sure the whole ship would have gotten off if it could. We also went to Ascension - http://exitviathegiftshop.blogspot.com/2016/04/blog-post.html another cruise-by but with the added advantage from a biologist from the island who gave a commentary about the island as we said past. ps.. apologies, I see that Ocean liner had already responded...
  18. Leaving San Francisco this year on the WC on the QV, a lady who joined our party was travelling Grills and had her Louis Vuitton cases dropped into the harbour. QV did what we all would have expected, they dry-cleaned the contents pretty swiftly and apologised profusely with a letter and note from House keeping and a senior officer. Her iPad and "chocolates" were ruined, Cunard replaced both no questions asked. Fran had an extensive wardrobe and some very expensive accessories but her attitude was that they had done what was expected and she wasn't looking for anything more. And ...she was a high powered lawyer. I respected her for not screwing the ship for anything more than was expected.
  19. Hope you enjoy the upgraded trip Roy. Looking froward to your blog. regards Roscoe
  20. hey Patty! will miss Hawaii next year but will catch up maybe the next year....
  21. we have always tendered to Waitangi. It's a 15 minute walk along the beach to the jetty at Paihia and the businessmen's association usually puts on a shuttle bus. I spent my childhood in The Bay so if you have any questions - shoot.
  22. I have had several different ocean views on QM2. (don't even start me on the "lobbyview" ones. I've had 6001, a forward ocean views - ( a disability cabin) while the room was large and a great bathroom, (why don't we all have them like that?) it only had a small QE2 size porthole forward and beside the sitting area. While I was grateful for the upgrade I rarely looked out it and the little light it let in was minimal. The other standard ocean views are exactly as the brochure shows them, a largish window behind the bed. I wasn't enamoured as it was difficult to sit and look out the window and you had to get up from bed and turn to look out in the morning. For the same reason as I don't like the steel fronted balconies as I like to lie in bed and look at the sea I have since only ever swallowed my wallet and pride and gone with the glass fronted balconies. Now the single ocean views on the QM2 are something else! Huge windows and spectacular rooms, you just can't get them!

its the exhibitionist side of me...........

    CCTV

or possibly - tried to sue the shipping line as they were apparently mugged onboard (possibly by a barman over the price of a drink, or likely the future booking manager who extracted their credit card for a future cruise deposit) and it just happened to be in the only area of the ship not under the watchful cover of CCTV. or possibly ......... they wanted to try Nude Tai Chi in the early morning light..... or was caught skinny dipping in the spa (tried that....not as fun as it sounds) the possibilities abound......any more suggestions???
