  1. It is room dependent, best to ask by room number. I only had a tiny love seat in a verandah room on the Noordam. I am not very experienced with this class of ship but my few experiences have yielded widely different results.
  2. When the elevator has many stops that is called a “ship tour”
  3. There are crew members specifically assigned to assist the disabled. It is imperative that people fill out that form. The form is indicated during the booking process @Tom O. thanks for the review. It sounds accurate to me.
  4. The only difference between HaL gift cards and AARP is that you can choose a specific amount for HAL cards on their website. Once I needed $13 and some small cents and was able to buy a gift card on the HAL website for that exact amount
  5. MDR honors HIA by the glass wine. You will also be offered a free wine tasting and can book specialty dining for 1/2 price - for those meals above what you get with HIA
  6. Yes. From experience , many times. .
  7. You cannot mix credit cards and gift cards. Buy another gift card to finish. HAL allows you to buy gift cards in any amount on their website so buy a small card there to top off your purchase. Or buy another AARP and use it for shipboard purchases
  8. I was sent to the cruise contract which did indeed say it is allowed. That is why I asked for direct, personal experiences.
  9. 😂that must be a great relief to parent thinking their kids are “only” smoking cigarettes. this is not an American versus non American issue. HAL, officially out of Seattle Washington, USA allows vaping in their cabins. My question was to determine if the crew actually understood that and did indeed not harass those who vape, no judgement on anyone’s habits.
  10. Just checking, you did add your KLM member number in the HAL Flight Ease website? as an aside, a trick I often use - I gate check my carry on free of charge. Once on my way home I have little concern if my luggage arrives timely so I will ask the gate agent for a courtesy gate check. They rarely refuse as people tend to carry way too much onboard to be accommodated easily
  11. It depends on when they get it lined up and even after they publish some excursions others may continue to popup until sailing day. For my upcoming Alaska trip I decided what I wanted and booked through HAL or others as availability presented. I have also cancelled some to buy others. Ever since the Covid lockdowns many business channels have been disrupted
  12. Also get in touch with your agent and get them working for you. I am sorry that happened.
  13. I stayed for 4 days a while back. Spend one day, at least, in town. Ride the funicular and enjoy the views from the top. Enjoy the large central city park with its various museums and gardens. Take a free walking tour (tip expected), they leave from the city park. The farmers market is pretty incredible.Hop on is available but we did not use it. We hired a private driver and spent one day vineyard touring. Check the big shore excursions tour companies for other escorted tours.
  14. Many have said that you shouldn’t marry a loyalty program. I wish HAL would simply offer more economic rewards , that is countable. Ceremonies and recognitions can very greatly and are hard to evaluate
  15. The question not answered is when was the charge? Was it added after you walked off of the ship? Was it added the very last day or was it on your bill and overlooked until you were home? Whether it is $11 or $1100 it is his not HAL’s and he is right to bring up this matter.
  16. To my knowledge HAL never uses those base rates. I have never paid for a checked bag with Flight Ease.
  17. So she was able to have two service dogs. HAL needs to shape up, I can understand someone in management not passing judgement on one (perhaps) but not two. Be sure you include this information in your survey.
  18. Perhaps but perhaps not. Entrepreneurs tend to be a group that takes risks. I foolhardily started my business and foolishly added to it over the years. Usually on a whim. I own a nice house in a premium neighborhood, have multiple cars, have retirement funding and cruise as often as I want. All income was derived from that foolish action.
  19. I bought a great little black dress. I bought a size up to better fit this mature woman. Mine is true knee length and can easily be paired with tights for a sportier look or stockings and heels for a dressy look. Mine was a boutique designer. The cut is simple, half sleeved, the true fashion is in the fabric and its pattern. Like @clo I do have black mid lengthy skirts too.
  20. Many of the state parks now use Reserve America for booking. RA has a nice email newsletter monthly to explore parks https://www.reserveamerica.com
  21. I gave it as an example, for heavens sake. Any business can be born quickly and profitably. You make my point that most people on these board don’t really know how business operates or is created. I created my 30 year business overnight, I created my first website on a bet while talking to a friend in the phone. Each of my integrated businesses were profitable in the very first year and that is the simplest way to pass the IRS sniff test and deduct this travel expense on this year’s taxes
  22. As stated it could be done if the OP gets snapping. If I start a business tonight to source materials, let’s say Caribbean crafts, to resell in the US. I set up my contacts, visit them when on the cruise, purchase them, take delivery and sell them profitably then yes I could write off some of the costs of the trip.
  23. I am so sorry for your loss. Definitely use any aid you can. I had to convince my mom to use a wheel chair on her last family cruise as it turns out and she still talks about how she really enjoyed it as she wasn’t exhausted at the end of the day. I was her designated aid and I can tell you those were the best airport experiences I have ever had. We had to traverse JFK, CDG, Athens and Venice airports and with an attendant helping us it was a snap, including customs! Even though I was sailing surly cruise line, not HAL, the crew was extremely helpful getting us on and off the ship. Make your life easy, it is more fun.
  24. The tone of most responses can be distilled down to “no way”. There are plenty of ways, all legitimate. Part of designing a business is understanding tax law and tax benefits. For some that is far more important than It was for myself. You can start a business tonight and if it is profitable enough to pass the IRS sniff test then yes you could get a tax deduction if you can make the case that it is a legitimate expense. There is only one tax credit for those who make no money, I assume anyone knows that
