  1. To my knowledge HAL never uses those base rates. I have never paid for a checked bag with Flight Ease.
  2. So she was able to have two service dogs. HAL needs to shape up, I can understand someone in management not passing judgement on one (perhaps) but not two. Be sure you include this information in your survey.
  3. Perhaps but perhaps not. Entrepreneurs tend to be a group that takes risks. I foolhardily started my business and foolishly added to it over the years. Usually on a whim. I own a nice house in a premium neighborhood, have multiple cars, have retirement funding and cruise as often as I want. All income was derived from that foolish action.
  4. I bought a great little black dress. I bought a size up to better fit this mature woman. Mine is true knee length and can easily be paired with tights for a sportier look or stockings and heels for a dressy look. Mine was a boutique designer. The cut is simple, half sleeved, the true fashion is in the fabric and its pattern. Like @clo I do have black mid lengthy skirts too.
  5. Many of the state parks now use Reserve America for booking. RA has a nice email newsletter monthly to explore parks https://www.reserveamerica.com
  6. I gave it as an example, for heavens sake. Any business can be born quickly and profitably. You make my point that most people on these board don’t really know how business operates or is created. I created my 30 year business overnight, I created my first website on a bet while talking to a friend in the phone. Each of my integrated businesses were profitable in the very first year and that is the simplest way to pass the IRS sniff test and deduct this travel expense on this year’s taxes
  7. As stated it could be done if the OP gets snapping. If I start a business tonight to source materials, let’s say Caribbean crafts, to resell in the US. I set up my contacts, visit them when on the cruise, purchase them, take delivery and sell them profitably then yes I could write off some of the costs of the trip.
  8. I am so sorry for your loss. Definitely use any aid you can. I had to convince my mom to use a wheel chair on her last family cruise as it turns out and she still talks about how she really enjoyed it as she wasn’t exhausted at the end of the day. I was her designated aid and I can tell you those were the best airport experiences I have ever had. We had to traverse JFK, CDG, Athens and Venice airports and with an attendant helping us it was a snap, including customs! Even though I was sailing surly cruise line, not HAL, the crew was extremely helpful getting us on and off the ship. Make your life easy, it is more fun.
  9. The tone of most responses can be distilled down to “no way”. There are plenty of ways, all legitimate. Part of designing a business is understanding tax law and tax benefits. For some that is far more important than It was for myself. You can start a business tonight and if it is profitable enough to pass the IRS sniff test then yes you could get a tax deduction if you can make the case that it is a legitimate expense. There is only one tax credit for those who make no money, I assume anyone knows that
  10. I don’t think so. I read all of the answers. Many talked about some guy in the office or other tells.
  11. I would call. For any odd situation, like my own described above, it is best to call and work with an agent.
  12. ! I need to quit skipping that luncheon. That looks like a great lunch. Last time I went to one of those it was pressed Turkey
  13. You have a 30 day window on either side of any cruise. So you can book your flights associated with a a single cruise. So say your first cruise is February 1 -15 your flight there can be as early as January 1 and your return as late as March 14
  14. To all of the outdoor enthusiasts. As a former backpacker, wilderness trekker and tent camper I have been rediscovering the state parks. While we were working the state parks have really upped their lodging alternatives and improved their trail systems over the past 20 years. My niece and I took a road trip last month and we stayed in state park lodges and cabins every single night. It was wonderful , cost less than a roadside hotel, had full kitchens, multiple bedding options, balconies, porches, fireplaces - even a bundle of wood was provided. We were able to find accommodations within 12 miles of the interstate highways we were driving (visiting relatives out east). I can’t wait to spend more long weekends exploring those parks.
  15. I have been able to buy a separate ticket . In one instance I booked the second leg 4 days prior to the sailing. I had booked to Europe with FE but had booked Southwest on the return leg. Southwest radically changed my flight, I called flight ease and had no issues booking that trip. Unfortunately so much at HAL these days is who you talk to. It is always best to call back and try another customer service rep
  16. Encouragement includes providing information. Say Nay, nay is not encouraging. Most people answering this thread have never owned a business and have no clue
  17. It is a deduction not a credit, it is not free. It is a travel expense of one does business in the place one is traveling to.
  18. The points guy does a good job of reviewing the different classes of seats. It varies widely airline to airline and by the type of jet. The only worthy experience I have had with premium economy is with Air France international otherwise it was a waste of money. Go to points guy website and watch the videos c
  19. That is too bad as that is a very pleasant walk about destination. I am surprised there will be that many ships there in October
  20. On the lower price end there are family rooms on the Pinnacle class ships. On some sailings as a 4 star you will get the third guest free (except port charges and taxes). Two bathrooms can go a long way for three gals. We like these even when we don’t sail with my sister
  21. I agree and there are some services I personally wouldn’t chance with anyone except my local stylist/colorist. It took me years to find the “one” and I will go natural before I mess with her color.
  22. My understanding is you must waitlist all time slots as if they are a different excursion. As a matter of fact i accidentally waitlisted two time slots for a single excursion Friday.
  23. I pay for many things others would not but then there are things I don’t care to pay for at all. It is not in the cost of admission so I consider it at the discretion of the user and not up for criticism. There are things we all have to pay for regardless if we find value, things like stage shows, musical productions and so on. I do a price comparison before leaving home so instead of squeezing in one more task the week before I travel I can use a sea day to have those services accomplished on ship. Then there are a few services I just splurge on just because having salon blown hair updos make me feel good. 😊
