  1. It costs you nothing to use a TA except for a little bit of the control but a good agent can be invaluable. Mine is able to renegotiate fares if there is a sale, makes sure I never inadvertently book a non-refundable fare and more, I still handle my air because I have points and am picky but she does give good advice there also. If I am arriving in a non-English country (South America, Africa, for example) after an overnight flight she always arranges a private driver who manages my hotel checkin - this is worth the cost! She also recommends add ons and more without ever being pushy. I traveled for business for many years and arranged everything but it is a small luxury having someone who will wait on hold for me😉
  2. Not all sideways have a sofa. The one I described earlier on deck 5 aft did not. That was a guarantee assignment
  3. The bed is a large queen, we remarked it was almost like a king. The far bed - wall space is snug, just use it for storage. The area between the bed and tv wall is snug. That said I did like that there is no hallway wasted space. There is a row of closets across from the bathroom which is very efficient. There is ample storage for a solo.
  4. Are you on a promo? When did you finally get your initial room assignment. I am still waiting on mine for early January. I sailed interior on the Koningsdam in 2019, solo it will be ok, the rooms are very efficient. I had a sideways interior - when room service came they could just reach from the door and put the tray on the bed😂
  5. @Horizon chaser 1957 I am a famous throw the pasta and see what sticks person. I follow instructions to the letter and wait. It costs nothing to find out. I have never had the occasion to use this particular program but I wouldn’t let the prospect of failure stop me. It is not like they keep a little book of whose naughty or nice 😉
  6. I would simply let her know you are more comfortable with written communications. People often think they are doing you a favor by calling. I like written, it is more thoughtful and gives me a written record. My TA now knows I want bullet point lists, phone chat is for visiting but when it is time to talk money I want it written.
  7. I am not. DH will have his sports jacket and he will be far dressier than me. South America has the worst baggage handlers on earth and that is my key consideration. My checked bags will only have things that I could manage without.
  8. A good TA is priceless. Whenever I want a change she sends a bullet point list sized by side comparison.
  9. If you don’t cancel and rebook it can be preserved. I occasionally may lose a perk but never a single type of perk. It depends on the negotiation that takes place.
  10. Not always. Maybe you need a better agent😉
  11. Yeah, I think it is a ploy to get you to pay for an upgrade.
  12. Good question. I use it for embarkation ports mainly so I can travel carry on only yet not give up my favorite toiletries.
  13. I fixed the link but another way is to use google maps. Locate your hotel area on a map then search “nearby” for and Amazon locker
  14. Find one first. EDITED TO FIX LINK https://www.amazon.com/locker-location-near-me/s?k=locker+location+near+me
  15. I think bar soap ceased before Covid. I have been carrying bars at least 6 years (I remember as my sister is the one who gave me the suggestion on a family trip)
  16. I am not cut out for world cruising but if I was I would use HAL’s free luggage service and throw concise packing to the wind.
  17. Amazon locker. They have them all over the world. I have occasionally used them for long cruises when I want to travel carry on only. All of my cosmetics, ointments and salon products are waiting for me at the locker of my choosing.
  18. Refaring and preserving perks is a job for a PCC or very experienced TA. You will get the best results if you seek assistance
  19. I bring soap - body and face, shampoo and conditioner. It is a small comfort of familiarity
  20. I am looking around now. I just want somewhere I can lock the door, leave for extended periods and not worry about the hot water heater exploding. I never was fond of homeownership. My DH was an avid collector and that required a large home but he now has renewed his interest in travel and less cumbersome hobbies so a change of habitat is in the cards
  21. If you can’t get it from her, HAL does list all tender ports in the itinerary on their public pages. Simply search for your cruise there and click through for the full itinerary
