Also want to let you know the specific Cruise Critic Roll Call thread for your line, ship and sail date will be the place for you to get to know the other Cruise Critic members sailing with you before your cruise. Your fellow Roll Call thread members may have important information posted in your Roll Call thread. Especially those that have sailed your line, ship or itinerary before. 9. @Koala-Lou I suggest you use the Follow feature on this thread or any other thread where you are interested in the new replies. That way you will not have to go looking to see if there are replies on your Followed threads because they will come looking for you as notifications! If you need more info on how to do it, please click the following: How to: Follow Topics & Forums (Subscribed Threads/Forums Info) And to add to @gnome12's comment, please note that after typing the ampersand and the member's user name in a post, a list should start forming of user names & their avatars (aka Profile Photo). When you see the user name & avatar you need, just click it on the list and the tag will then appear in your post. Some members have similar user names so please be sure you click the one with the correct avatar. If the tagged member has Notifications turned on, they will receive a notification that you have tagged them in a post. If they chose notifications via email, an email is sent to their Cruise Critic email address of record. If they chose Notification List Only, they click the Notifications bell (upper right of the message board page and to the left of their user name over the small Search bubble) to get the clickable list for their notifications. Personally, I no longer use email for Cruise Critic notifications. I have mine set to Notification List Only. Takes a big load off of my mailbox! 😄 Hope this additional information will be helpful!

I do know for sure it was that way when I joined Cruise Critic in 2005.

  16. Thank you @Host Jazzbeau for moving this thread to the correct forum! Folks often forget about this forum for finding the help they need in using the message board software. Now a FYI to all reading this thread, This forum is located at the top of the Cruise Critic Community list of forums right under Forum Assistance. Whenever you wonder if you need help with using the message board software, always check this forum first. Most often CC Help Jenn has already addressed the matter. Note the numerous "How to..." pinned threads toward the top of this forum's first page. And speaking of the pinned threads here... and to stay on topic, please note the following from How To: Edit Signature especially the quick link to your signature section: "You can edit your signature. Here is a quick link to that section of your settings: Edit Signature If you want to find this section in the future, click your user name at the top right side of the forums . Select Account Settings from the Menu On the left side select SIGNATURE Type your signature into the box You can add a photo if you would like Click SAVE to save your new signature" And if you want to see what your new or edited signature looks like under a post, please do so on the TEST FORUM. Hope this information will be helpful to all, Host Kat

  20. FYI to all reading this thread, This is a friendly reminder to please remember the title of this thread, "Post CRUISE LINE Single Supplement/Solo Bargains HERE". The topic is bargains offered by the CRUISE LINES only... NOT travel agents/agencies (online, brick & mortar, big box, etc.), promoters of hosted group cruises for singles/solos or any other source of cruise purchase. Note the following from the Travel Agent Recommendations section in the Guidelines we all agreed to follow when registering for our free Cruise Critic memberships: Travel Agent Recommendations There shall be no third-party recommendation (whether positive or negative in content) of travel agencies on any forums within Cruise Critic. General discussions regarding the TYPE of AGENCY to be used to purchase a cruise will be allowed, as long as no recommendations for any source of purchase are posted. Touting of your personal cruise agent or cruise line "personal cruise consultant" (or any other venue by which you purchase a cruise) is not allowed on our message boards. Postings that contain "tell them John sent you" will be removed without notice. This means you should not ask about someone's travel agent, nor should you respond in kind. Offering to email someone your travel agent's name or info is also not allowed, nor is asking members to email you for the information. Cruise Critic will remove violations of the "third-party recommendation" guideline without warning. Additional posts may result in permanent suspension of your posting privileges. Also, please note "veiled" or "masked" hints for TA names are not allowed either. In addition, please note the following also from the Guidelines: Other Cruise & Travel Sites Cruise Critic reserves the right to approve or deny links which lead directly to or link to cruise-related material or message boards that are not located within Cruise Critic. Additionally, we respectfully request that you do not use our forums to promote or advertise other cruise-related websites. Perhaps a copy of the first post by cruisinryan on the previous thread will be helpful: A thread for single supplement/solo bargains is very helpful for solo cruisers. 🙂 There used to be one, but it disappeared 😕 ...maybe it got too big. So let's start another one and see what happens. 😄 Post all those great deals everyone! 😄 But remember, you can't mention specific travel agencies, just general info like: "Cruise line .... currently has good prices for solo occupancy on .... sailing". Note the above states general info for cruise line, ship name and sail date are all that has been requested. Please feel free to add the itinerary. And yes, sometimes there may be the need for additional posts requesting & receiving clarification about a previous bargain posted in this thread, but please be considerate of your fellow Cruise Critic members. Posting off-topic chit chat within a thread (aka hijacking) is boring and only wastes everyone's time. Especially for the 182 members following this thread at this time. They only want to know about the latest CRUISE LINE single supplement bargains. I sincerely hope this information will be helpful to all. Happy sails, Host Kat

  25. Thanks @Host CJSKIDS for moving this thread to the correct forum! Folks often forget about this forum for the help they need in using the boards. Howdy @californiagirl! This ^ is an example of what @azbirdmom mentions. After typing the ampersand and the member's user name, a list should start forming of user names & their avatars (aka Profile Photo). When you see the user name & avatar you want, just click it on the list and the tag will then appear in your message. Some members have similar user names so please be sure you click the one with the correct avatar. If the tagged member has Notifications turned on, they will receive a notification that you have tagged them in a post. Regarding the Cruise Critic message board Message feature, it is available for use by Administrators & Hosts ONLY. We can use it with each other and to members. If one of us contacts a member via the feature, the member cannot reply back to us. The Message feature is disabled for members and has been I think since the AOL days of over twenty-five years ago. I do know for sure it was that way when I joined Cruise Critic in 2005. However in the olden days when the Cruise Critic message board used vBulletin software, if you and another member had your own registered identities for certain instant messaging networks and placed the info in your Cruise Critic profiles you would then be able to contact each other via those networks. Waaaay back then you could click on User CP or Quick Links then Edit Profile and then scroll down to the Optional Information - All information will be viewable by other forum members section. There you would see the following: Instant Messaging You may enter your registered identity for the instant messaging networks if you would like other visitors to be able to contact you using that medium. ICQ Number AIM Screen Name MSN Messenger Handle Yahoo! Messenger Handle Skype Name Once you entered your registered identity info of one of those networks and clicked the Save Changes button back then, your instant messaging network logo would then appear in the upper right corner of all your Cruise Critic posts under your join date & post count. You and other Cruise Critic members with the same instant messaging network would be able to click the logos appearing on Cruise Critic posts to contact each other via the network. But those days are loooong gone now that Invision Community software has been used by the Cruise Critic message board since October 2018. Hope this additional information (and little history lesson from Memory Lane 😀) will be helpful! Host Kat
