  1. SJU times seems to be the usual for X. Doesn't give you much day light at all in the early months of the year. One of the reasons our choice was another cruise line for a particular itinerary that included SJU (7AM - 5PM) since we wanted lots of day time hours in that port.
  2. You can take your arguments to Cyn874, who was actually on the ship and has posted her observations. Enjoy your next cruise. My 41st cruise is scheduled for 12/2023.
  3. Now that pictures are appearing on the internet of flooded hallways, destroyed shopping areas and no word from the captain for 12 hrs, would indicate it was a little more than a slight bump in the night. CCL already offering FCC and refunds. Will await the law suits!
  4. I think someone said to can request cold water wash, but I'm not sure . Someone here will know!!
  5. Should know the answer to this but, not sure. I have Elite status but the person going with me has only cruised with X three previous times. Can that person accompany me to the Elite Cocktail Hour and be served between 5-7pm or would they have to pay? Just wondering.
  6. Just a sell job for the Edge class. I'll happily keep my current bookings on the Silhouette and Constellation!
  7. Maybe that's part of the reason X has drastically raised their prices?
  8. Actually, per the head chef, HAL cut their food waste by more than 40% by serving food in the buffet area instead of letting passengers pile their plates to over flowing and then leaving half of it to be thrown away!
  9. Make your concern known! We were on the Rotterdam this past February. Most every Lincoln Center performance was packed and countless complaints about the loss of LC were placed at Guest Services but alas, the HAL bean counters didn't care.
  10. Yes, under "Complimentary Dining" but not sure how far ahead of ones cruise this opens up. Someone here will know though!. We are booked for this coming December and cannot use this yet.
  11. Solstice over Edge. Vancouver is beautify but would suggest you do a lot of research (CC is good for this under Ports of Call) and have all your ducks in a row before the trip. Enjoy your cruise.
  12. My TA filed my DD-214 with the two cruise lines that I use, including X. Given $100 off the cruise fare on multiple cruises with X.
  13. When using Celebrity call back option... don't hold your breath that that call back will ever be received.
  14. Spoke this afternoon with a friend who lives in the heart of Ft. Lauderdale. She said the airport was scheduled to reopen today (Thursday) but that many roads are still covered with water and some areas of Ft. Lauderdale look like a "disaster zone." Hopefully by tomorrow and Saturday, things will be better.
  15. We will be on the same 9 night cruise. If you google Celebrity Shore Excursions in New Orleans, you'll find what has been and will most likely be offered. It is probably too far out for X to list the excursions they have offered before for others that have stopped at New Orleans for a cruise that is 10 months+ away. However, having been to New Orleans before, I concur with many of the previously mentioned suggestions.
  16. Glad you had some success. We have complained about the sound LOUDNESS in the theaters on all the X ships we've been on and the answer has always been: the sound producers have a set standard for sound! It's really a shame when the overwhelming sound ruins a show and apparently no one at X really cares.
  17. Crowne Plaza Airport/Cruise Port Hotel offers free shuttle from the airport and has a shuttle to the port which I've used. Have also used Uber which is slightly cheaper, with no problems.
  18. A perfect example of why I look at private tours, aside from the many good reasons already given is: frustration with Celebrity. Sailing in December of this year and I placed 5 ship excursions in the cart while also looking at private tours -especially Barbados where the only ship excursion to Harrisons Cave is only for those in wheelchairs! Found a private tour to the cave that we will book at a very reasonable price and highly rated on TripAdvisor. I go to remove the ship excursion that I picked for this stop and nothing happens when I hit REMOVE, repeatedly. I then found that the same is true for the other four cruise tours too. Called Celebrity for Shore Excursion IT assistance x 2. Both times I was told " we can go ahead and put those on your credit card! I explained the whole situation again and asked for phone number for IT/computer assistance. Was told BOTH times, " we don't have an IT department!!" Have used private tours all over the world and have never had a problem, paid less, and certainly never missed the departing ship.
  19. Disembarked the Rotterdam on 3/8/23 so enjoyed the review of your cruise that started that day. Having been on the NS last December, it was interesting to compare the ships, food, service etc. Received chocolates and towel animals on dressy nights on the NS, only chocolates on the Rotterdam. Was told on both vessels that we could have morning cleaning of the cabin and evening turn down, if we wanted. We had CO on both and really enjoy the separate CO dining areas - food was excellent as well as the service. Most of the Lincoln Center performances were very well attended, sometimes completely full on both ships. HAL is making a big mistake with their LC change but seems they have ignored the MANY who have opposed this on CC and when onboard ships. Apparently the HAL bean counters know that at LC there are no waiters moving around trying to sell drinks so... basically, do away with it. Glad your large group had an enjoyable time on the Rotterdam.
  20. Just my 2 cents worth after CO on the NS last December and Rotterdam 2 weeks ago. Lemon Shrimp Fettuccine and Short Ribs were excellent. The Dutch Cafe deep dish apple pie was far better on the NS than on the Rotterdam. Rotterdam pie had no raisins added (one would expect the recipe to be the same) and was always far less favorable and dry. Tamarind is by far our favorite speciality restaurant. Love the separate dining areas in the Pinnacle ships.
  21. Just came off the Rotterdam 3/8 and paid for Orange Club on this cruise and the previous December cruise on the NS. Actually, our primary reason for purchasing OC is the separate dining area. It is quiet, compared to the MDR, very attentive staff who will help you with any special food needs/allergies etc. and the food is served hot. The priority boarding, tendering and possible cabin upgrade is nice too but the separate dining areas on the three HAL Pinnacle class ships is the biggest plus for us.
  22. I guess it just all depends when you're cruising! Was on the NS the first week of last December and just got off the Rotterdam March 8th. Paid for Orange Club on both cruises. Never waited to be seated at breakfast or dinner in Orange Club dining, where we ate all our evening meals, and found the service and food to be excellent. Never waited for more than 5 minutes at Guest Services Orange Club line. This was particularly helpful the first day when there was even a separate long line for those needing help with their iPhones/Internet. Orange Club line, for the same help needed, only waited for one other person ahead of me. Particularly like the Orange Club dining area due to the quietness, attentive staff and food served HOT.
  23. Stopping in Tobago this coming December 2023 while cruise with Celebrity. Anyone recently done any private excursions here? Most the previous remarks here are quite dated.
  24. The water from the tap, on the ships, is probably the cleanest and most pure water you're going to find anywhere.
  25. Cruised on the NS last December and the Rotterdam two weeks ago. Did do Orange Club on both and loved the separate dining areas. No complaints whatsoever on either cruise. Nice cabins, including the upgrades, really good food everywhere. Very professional and pleasant staff and crew. Evening shows on the NS were okay. Three of the shows on the Rotterdam were with The Knights (three gifted male singers) and received standing ovations each time. Shore excursions at the pier were a little disorganized but acceptable plus we took several private tours. Loved the Lincoln Center concerts that were very well attended - big mistake on HAL's part in making the upcoming Lincoln Center change. Enjoyed Billboard but not so much BB King but, to each his own. Felt that HAL is well on its way to recovering completely from the COVID shutdown.
