  1. There wasn't one single post that said that this would never happen. As you said, there were lots of posts saying that the same state dept warning had been in effect since July 2023 and Haiti has been a basket case for a very very long time and that Royal will act prudently and in their own best interest, which is keeping passengers safe... "Royal will stop going to Labadee if it becomes unsafe to be there. To suggest that there is risk that Royal is ignoring is preposterous. Who knows... tomorrow they could decide to cancel. However, I have 100% confidence that the situation is being monitored and should circumstances change for Labadee Royal will make other arrangements. " My quote from the previous thread above ☝️. That others want to mischaracterize that discussion or are ducking this discussion is instructive in and of itself. Hopefully the marauding band of 4000 criminals in Port-Au-Prince won't find their way to Labadee and steal all the floating beach mats. I love those things. 😇
  2. I have one booked on Oasis in December when Symphony is also there as well. 🤯 I booked Hideaway bay. I was going to book a ticket for the waterslides as well but I'm not keen to be standing in line forever either so cancelled that idea. Ive never bothered with the slides a Cococay so I want my first time to not be overwhelmed and unpleasant. We'll be there the week previous on Icon. I wasn't going to book slides since we will have so many on the ship but I might just do that. We have Voyager in port with that time. So not near as many people.
  3. Thank @twangster, I always love your photo's I love Labadee, Later this year we have a cruise that goes to both Labadee and Coco Cay and it'll be interesting to do a side by side comparison.
  4. Absolutely, I did exactly that for my son in law on our cruise on Harmony in Dec. I purchased the DBP and gave away all my D drinks to family who cruised with us.
  5. I know you aren't supposed to but we just did on our February Adventure cruise
  6. Wow that is actually quite big. Bigger than I expected. I'd still probably go with a Boardwalk balcony for the two of us but if I had any extra people I'd be looking at that cabin.
  7. Ditto. I don't know how big a spacious interior but I'd take the balcony for natural light any day of the week.
  8. This is a very old picture. (circa 2008) but I don't imagine the bed location has changed.
  9. For an 8 night cruise on freedom I would be hoping to be able purchase it in the high $60's or at worst lost $70's. Look for sales over major holidays in the cruise planner. They tend to be the best. Usually there is some discounting going on every few weeks. The current sale is pretty unimpressive. If you keep watching eventually you will find a deal.
  10. Thank you to @xpcdoojk and @Ocean Boy for their concern.
  11. I made it home last night.. Thanks for the prayers. 🙂
  12. I have been to Roatan a number of times with Royal Caribbean... Once I decided to just walk out of the port area and start to wander around. It did not feel safe and after 20 minutes I turned around and headed back to the ship. That said, when on a Royal excursion to a private area it feels totally safe. Last to time I did Maya Key. It is a great private beach that isn't crowded. When booking through the cruise line it includes transportation and lunch. Drinks were extra but affordable.
  13. Is it one gift per person or per stateroom.
  14. I loved my stop in Puerto Plata a few weeks ago. I had one of the best excursions ever! Jumping off cliffs Damajagua.
  15. Don't believe anyone on here... believe other people who you don't know either. LOL
  16. I've convinced DW to go to NYC for a few days prior to our N/E Canada trip. She made me promise I won't take her to anywhere that'll scare her. LOL That sad thing is our cities don't have to be this way. It just requires appropriate governance. The best example of that Portland. It is complete chaos and that chaos can be directly attributed to decisions made by local politicians. Across the Columbia river in Vancouver, WA politicians have made different decisions and very little of the chaos of Portland has spilled over into southern WA state. When you enable addition and homelessness you get more addiction and homelessness. Haiti is a completely different situation but at the end of the day the problem is governance. This can easily be proven with the shining example of The Dominican Republic. Same island, different result.
  17. The vast majority of people have absolutely no idea what goes on down there and in other major cities. It can be dangerous in broad daylight. At night it can look like a zombie apocalypse.
  18. Neither unlucky nor wearing excessive jewelry. I wear no jewelry. I don't even wear a watch. I have worked with addicts on the streets for 30 years in all of those locations. I felt safer in Labadee.
  19. Royal will stop going to Labadee if it becomes unsafe to be there. To suggest that there is risk that Royal is ignoring is preposterous. Who knows... tomorrow they could decide to cancel. However, I have 100% confidence that the situation is being monitored and should circumstances change for Labadee Royal will make other arrangements.
  20. I have never been attacked, attempted to be stabbed, or robbed at Labadee. None of those things are true in Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland, Seattle or Vancouver BC. 🙂 Last month in Labadee... A month and a half ago in Los Angeles... 🙂
  21. I'm heading to downtown Los Angeles tonight... Keep me in your prayers. 🙂
  22. Yes there is parking right next to the embarkation hall. It's $20 per day (24 hour period).
  23. You will find it in the cruise planner under dining. If you don't see it, you may be too early. It is usually one of the first things to show up under dining...
