  1. Traditional dining has been gone for over a year. There are no more set early and late seatings where you are assigned to a table and dining partners for your cruise. It is possible for a party who know each other to reserve for the same time and MDR each evening with Dine My Way though.
  2. Looking for the next 12 months the app is showing as no charge except late night for my upcoming cruises.
  3. You can usually see which nights are scheduled as formal nights in the Journey View activities timeline in the app. Every evening will show either “casual” or “formal” portraits. I’ve seen it populate as much as a couple of months before a cruise.
  4. I couldn’t agree more. I love how the app makes reserving easy and always use it to check menus, especially now that they can be seen days ahead of time. It had some issues for me on my first cruise after the restart but since then it’s worked nearly perfectly. In addition to the benefits you mention, I find using the chat function to be a huge improvement over having to visit guest services and finding shipmates is also very handy. I miss it on other lines.
  5. I don’t think traditional dining will ever return. It worked perfectly in the old days of cruising when the only option for dinner was the main dining room. With the many options available today, from specialty restaurants, the buffet, room service etc, it makes it much more difficult to keep tables of random strangers filled at the same time for every night of a cruise. Pre-COVID, a pet peeve of even those who love traditional dining had been that they were left sitting alone at a table full of empty seats when their table mates choose another option for dinner.
  6. Can that bottle be brought to the dining room without a corkage fee?
  7. Yes, make a copy of the statement showing your name and the ownership of the shares blacking out everything else. Attach it to an email with the required details. The email addresses and specifics are here
  8. It seems that everyone uses the example of a medical situation that would require them to disembark the ship but I always worry more about an emergency at home that would require me to leave the ship and rush back. I would hate not to be able to get home quickly, especially if something were to happen to a family member.
  9. Panama Canal cruises as well as those that visit Martinique or Guadalupe require passports. It is clearly stated on the booking summary as well as in the app
  10. Is the problem that you can’t scan the QR code to open the list? Does it just fail to scan?
  11. You can see which nights are scheduled as formal nights in the Journey View activities timeline in the app. Every evening will show either “casual” or “formal” portraits. I’ve seen it populate as much as a couple of months before a cruise.
  12. I was on the Sky Princess last month and the food in the MDR was good, the best I’ve ever had on a Princess ship. It was much better than on the Emerald last spring or than my last Princess cruise pre-Covid. I can’t imagine how awful the food on a single cruise would have to be to make me cancel future bookings and never sail with a line again. MDR food is almost never exciting.
  13. You can see the times for your sailing in the Journey View activities timeline in the app. I’ve seen it populate as much as 60 days before a cruise
  14. Thanks! I could see how close they are but you never know about barriers etc.
  15. Doing a side to side next year we’ll be coming into Berth 92 at the World Cruise Terminal and boarding the second ship at Berth 93. Is it easily walkable?
  16. It’s for exactly this reason that I park off-site. If I have to take a shuttle or taxi anyway the advantage of parking in the garage isn’t worth it to me
  17. They do not have expiration dates. The agent is confused
  18. Change is hard for most of us. When airlines went to e-tickets , online seat selection and check-in and cruise lines introduced similar options, lots of people were distrustful or just couldn’t see any reason to bother with it all. Today, we’d think it was crazy to have to go to a travel agent, airline office or the airport to get tickets for a flight or go get hard copies of cruise documents. I don’t have any idea how people without computers and access to the internet fly anywhere or cruise. While there are people who don’t see any reason to have a smart phone or any mobile phone at all, their numbers are shrinking. Even for seniors who say they are resistant to acquiring technology, they are a safety net. I would never want to have to try to find a pay phone in an emergency or carry a land line phone around the house in my pocket, Even key cards for hotel rooms or cruise ship cabins threw plenty of people for a loop since unlike traditional keys they had no room number printed on them. They also had magnetic strips that could stop working. We’d be shocked to be handed physical keys now. Especially the ones on giant fobs. I imagine it won’t be long before we are all accustomed to using the medallion and there is no doubt that smart phone use will be even more common than it is now. This is all just growing pains.
  19. I would consider trying to hire a private guide who could pick you up at the hotel in the morning and drop you off at the ship in the afternoon
  20. You can see what is scheduled for your cruise in the Journey View activity timeline in the app. I’ve seen it start to populate as much as 60 days before sailing
  21. I agree that Celebrity and Princess are more alike than different. One thing that hasn’t been mentioned- Princess has self-service laundry. It is very helpful on long trips
  22. It would always be my preference but I wouldn’t stay home over it. If the itinerary, dates, and price all match my needs it might very well be worth the trouble.
  23. I see. So the issue isn’t the Princess gift cards but participating in the AARP Rewards program at all. I guess that makes a certain amount of sense. Is the a similar organization in Canada as there is with Automobile Clubs?
  24. I’ve seen it on the Princess Twitter account, and their Facebook page as well if I remember correctly. They are posting it all over
