  1. This is Radiance 4-day cruises now that can drive to a pier. I will try to answer anyone’s questions when I pick up a signal. Being platinum we were supposed to check in 16 days prior, but could not get software to checkin due to website issues. So checked in 14th day and earliest choice boarding time 10-10:30. For those driving we arrived at 10:05-if you are NOT checking luggage, turn left at stop sign, and structure will be on your right. Drive a bit straight and entrance gate on right. After you enter take an immediate right. Take a quick right as spots there are awesome when available, along with the up ramp. If possible back into spot as easier to pull out at end of cruise. Parking rate $23/day. Will post if it changes. Security x-ray check, we use standard carryons. Brought sealed coke 12 pack and three cans root beer. Sailed thru security never opened bags. Next stop small line as a narcotic dog stands there as you pass. Passed again. Boarded record start time. - no weddings. Boarded Diamond, seconds later suite, & platinum at 10:42. On board at 10:51 from indoors to Blue Iguana. First wrong ship “airship Goodyear” on drive in. First tail sighting outside- amidst morning marine layer. First indoor whale tail tail:
  2. We had a great time seeing San Juan by Segway. Both of us had never been in a Segway, and found it great way to see the city and all the way up to the fort- no uphill climb. we parked our Segways at Fort gate, toured the fort (price included). Would absolutely book again. We reserved ahead Segway tours Puerto Rico and location right at pier 2 down below sidewalk level. They do a training before tour making sure you are comfortable with operation. It only took a few hours of our time, then we walked around- there is an awesome authentic Panama Hat maker called Ole that is very famous. SIDE NOTE- If anyone joys kite flying the hill by fort is amazing. We bought a cheap kite befor cruise and gave to a local child when we were done.
  3. We had the same cabin steward three cruises in a row, and knew us on second cruise halfway down the hall. He had a few months left with Carnival as was going home to start a family. When I asked if he could honest answer, asked about tips. As housekeeping he said they pool dedicated tips, but gets to keep cash.
  4. Would you take a photo of actual view from perspective when you are sitting on your patio if you are staying in a Havana cabin? My husband wants to know how “unprivate it is” and if only looking at a metal wall. So I can state my case to him, and consider if senior parents would enjoy the area (or too noisy) and its restaurant. Thanks.
  5. We have been on Carnival Radiance five times since covid since we can drive to port. Big Chicken can count on hot food, and unique fries and would choose Big Chicken over the rarely open Pig n’ Anchor area outdoors, and its food is never hot. Ships with BBQ should switch over to Big Chicken IMO.
  6. No linrary on Radiance. The Java Blue cafe has a shelf on the right, a few paperbacks some days, I take on leave two.
  7. Where was this located on Radiance? Looking forward Oct. and perhaps new menus and late night too. Have sailed Radiance 5 times since post covid and any changes welcome.
  8. Carnival Radiance sold them at Pool towel station. Sorry didn't get a closer pic.I was going for towel animals. I saw them wrapped and new. Ncluded blue, yellow, 50th anniversary, and a darker logo version. Also sold robes and towel folding book.
  9. Tervis tumbler with lid is a great deal thru Carnival. Just an FYI they come in handy for lido drinks, or hot beverages too. No need to balance the little neon small cup or slop coffee from a mug. I like to carry a small canvas or tote for groceries on my shoulder and carry it in there (often filled) while getting my food. Often add the napkin silverware too. Much easier than a balancing act.
  10. I looked on a few other ships, and no outlet back there. If you do need a usb plug in for something though, many forget tv has one. I have brought an extension cord for a mini fan and ran across and under bed and stuck under bed during day to avoid tripping. Try using painters tape at home see if it holds cord down as will not leave a sticky residue. Also extension cords must be non surge type per Carnival.
  11. agree on strong magnets- I found itty. bitty cube ones that work great. Not wanting them to “disappear” I tape over them with blue painters tape and on corners. No residue at all. Strong magnetic hooks also come in handy for walls inside to hang a purse, jacket, fun times etc. Usually find some decor at Dollar tree. I did see a dry erase board once and it got quite graphic type drawings on it 🫢
  12. I always have Lactaid tablets with me, and do not disclose- just discreetly take it. I also avoid certain soups, or carved meats from lido as often have msg in it from spices, or canned items put into soup. It is another IBS and migraine trigger for me. You are your best advocate. p.s. I also brought my own non refrigerated (balsalmic, or italian) dressing in a small 3oz leak proof bottle for same reason, ranch= msg, some nights only one dressing offered and it is cheese type. So far so good with awareness.
  13. Sorry a bit off topic but sort of related- if she likes crafts, perhaps she can make your cabin door signs as many versions as she likes to change them up. We buy our door sign from dollar tree and put small magnets to hold it, but then tape over magnets to prevent them “disappearing” and edge with blue painters tape that leaves no residue. The doors are metal as well as some interior walls. - as a hint buy the heavy duty magnetic hooks for walls- come in handy for hats, jackets, purse, “ hanging up funtimes”etc.
  14. IMO on a menu night with not much appealing to me and feeling a bit motion sick offering I asked for kids menu- they asked if I wanted crayons 🤭😆Cheese Pizza was actually pretty good, other times have requested a banana split vote is a yes, fruit cocktail is a mini cut up version of adult fruit plate, jello- nope very much like a solid flavorless gel cup.
  15. Exact thing for us have been in different cabins, same floor level and 3/5 fridge was a glorified box, no coolness. Even ones that did work, were risky to store dairy in.
  16. It may vary by ship, but Carnival Radiance has been 8:30-noon. Make sure you have the Carnival app on your cell as way to request a dining table. p.s. the “free” orange juice in our opinion is much better at sea day brunch. They used to also do a Chocolate extravaganza at noon on lido, but was not advertised last cruise. Did notice chocolate was the theme for desserts just scaled back. Save room from brunch and go early to lido just for dessert as run out as they are much better than lido normal desserts.
  17. sorta same topic but FYI cheese pizza off kids menu in mdr thumbs up last trip on Radiance
  18. Just an FYI, Radiance thermal suite is the mini version- they have thermal chairs, a sauna, tiny aroma therapy steam room with salt rock wall, cold shower with rain and I think aroma (it is out in open not private) NO pool or hot tub. Lovely, but just so you know what paying for. We have sailed Radiance six times since covid and again upcoming next week, so if any question message me or ask here.
  19. Feb 28, 2023 Long Beach Carnival Radiance had them. I think procedure was a bit new as line stalled , and was slow. I am curious if the dog has a success rate.
  20. Thank you for taking time to post. Enjoy your excursion today. Sunny skies and smooth sailing to you.
  21. I luv the choc melting cake - never have asked for peanut-butter, but will in a few weeks thanks for reminder.
  22. We love this ship and sail this same itinerary in a few weeks. Last Radiance cruise we did in March was the first time security used narcotic dogs that passed by the line after going through bag screening, it really backed the line up. Are they still using the dogs, or was it a spring break thing?
  23. Thanks, I will again re-evaluate this May. Perhaps it is head chef or pastry chef onboard, but would think all recipes across ship the same, but I do know plating quality various greatly. We have ability to drive from Vegas area to Long Beach so have experienced the Radiance 5+ times after she arrived post dry dock- last sailing early March 2023. Really the best choc cakes on sea day chocolate extravaganza and while I do not choose sugar free, the strawberry lemonade was best of cruise.
  24. I also wish the lido dessert area would discover putting more sugar and flavor in cakes. The only flavorful desserts are choc dessert special. I so miss real tastingdesserts including jellos, cake pops, pies and a keylime pie.
