  1. They can upgrade you anytime after bidding but usually around 72-96 hours. If you are a potential upgrade your offer may turn to pending and all others cancelled around this time. ... This is usually a good sign. If you were not a winner you will receive your rejection at 48 hours prior to the cruise departure.
  2. I know many really love the Edge class ships but after spending a month on Edge last month we will probably never travel on Edge again. It may have just been our Cruise but in Luminae the food quality, preparation and attention to detail was just a total let down. Many Fish and Poultry dishes were grossly overcooked. Many Entrees were on piping hot plates but the protein was warm to cold inside. We received at least 3 meals where a component was missing from the dish. We will be taking Solstice B2B Sydney to Vancouver in about 3 months so stay tuned. Really interested to see if the issue is confined to Edge or whether it is the New Celebrity. I'm sure many will disagree with me but that was our experience. It is also one of the reason I've been shopping on Oceania today.
  3. My understanding is that it would not be allowed. While we all may agree that possibly exceptions should be made. Like in the U.S. while it may be legal in your state it may be illegal in many other states and is still Prohibited under Federal Law. Now you take it one step further - International Regulations. Personally I would recommend she not travel unless she can do without the THC or even CBD products.
  4. We had a problem with this on our last cruise and the Retreat Manager and Hosts just would not get it fixed. They said that if you Book it online and pay for it it is discounted and they can't double dip. After complaining to the Hotel Director they fixed it by cancelling the original reservation and payment and rebooked it with the discount - in my case as a Zenith it was a 25% discount and the amount really was insignificant but became a Principle issue We initially tried to fix it via the Zenith Desk and Shoreside Concierge but they said they didn't' have the ability to correct it and had to be fixed on the ship.
  5. With due respect to your server - First step I would recommend is to verbalize your displeasure via the online attention to detail form. You will probably get a call from the Cellar Master next day and he will sit down with you do discuss. WE had a similar problem and he fixed it instantly. Iain wasn't asking for a wine above drink package just trying to get a wine he likes that we knew was available but the "Sommelier" couldn't find it. After that meeting it was available every night in every restaurant we dined in.
  6. Personally I would contact the owner of the Travel Agency and ask for the reservation to be corrected to what you had thought you were booking. If a high volume agency they should have contacts to help fix the problem. If they don't - time to find a new agent.
  7. Thanks for your additional comments. I can't say that price is no object but we do sail about 3-4 months out of the year. I was looking at something to do Prior to a Lisbon to Buenos Aires cruise we have booked for Late November on Celebrity in a Royal Suite. This good thing is that currently all room types are available. I'm sure I could be happy with a Penthouse but now need to work on Iain and see if I can talk him into the Oceania Suite.... I think it would work perfect. I know many have different opinions of Butlers but we have always had them for almost 23 years. While we really don't use them much many have made our cruise exceptional. On a cruise last month out butler was incredible. He just picked up on things. Even though we ask him not to leave things to nibble on in the room (I'm a grazer and they end up in my stomach even if I'm not hungry). He would notice Iain liked Teatley British Strength Tea - Next day he acquired that last that was available on the ship and stocked it in our room. Of course he was always attentive to laundry and even the day before the end of the cruise insisted we give him all our laundry and would have it laundered and folded for packing. Something I would never have even considered especially as they had cut off laundry for the remainder of the cruise. Question about these category upgrades. Do they advertise them or do you or your agent just find them? I noticed that prices jumped up about $1,000 on all categories overnight -- maybe because it was the 1st of the year.
  8. Thanks much for the warm welcome. We are just about to hit Double Zenith and have 3 more Celebrity Cruises booked but our plans are now to start cruising by destination instead of dedication. I'm sure we will use the Free Aqua Cruise Credit to book something. Looking at a cruise almost 2 years out all classifications are available except the Single cabins which say expired. I've been watching videos on YouTube this afternoon. Would I be correct in thinking a Penthouse would be equivalent to a Sky Suite? Maybe a little higher. It's really sad to see what use to be a really nice cruise line slowly drift downward.
  9. @Sthrngary I'm late to the party but just completed your entire Live post. Thanks for putting so much time into posting both your experience and answering all of the questions. We have sailed Celebrity exclusively for the past 23 years and have decided like many others that it is time to look at other lines. Oceania is on our short list and your post is very helpful in in beginning to understand their product. Our first non-Celebrity cruise was on Ponant about 6 months ago. Ponant is of course a totally different product, with only 132 cabins we were initially a bit concerned about the size but loved the ship, crew and new experience. The current booking window I am looking at is November of 2024 and Vista Istanbul to Barcelona may just dovetail in with a TransAtlantic we have booked out of Lisbon to Buenos Aires. Just a quick question- Between a Concierge, PH and Vista Suite which would you suggest for a first time Oceania Cruise. We normally alternate between Celebrity Suites and Royal Suites on Celebrity and rarely use our balconies and almost never use the outdoor hot tubs. We occasionally use our decks on sail away's or arrivals in a scenic port.
  10. It is coming in handy - We hit Double Zenith on our next cruise. If it weren't for PUP we would have missed it by 3 points. In the end we would have hit it on the next half of the B2B. Actually we hit Zenith on the Japan Immersion. We were going to be 1 day short of points so did an Alaska Land Tour. In the end we would have hit it anyway because they screwed up with the date line and gave us an additional day of credit.
  11. The way I do it is to Click the Head Icon Under your current sailing choose Select a different Cruise (teal color) Near bottom - Dont see your Cruise Lets add it now Under the sign on there is a link BROWSE OUR SHIPS Select your ship and the current cruise (top one)
  12. Usually they will begin accepting luggage as soon as the last of the departing passengers no longer need porter service. If not at 10:15 I would think you will not have a long wait.
  13. I also did not get the last notification of PowerUp. Luckily someone posted on a FB group I belong to about it and then provided me with the link.
  14. LOL.. I also keep a spreadsheet that calculates my CC points. I reconcile periodically to add in the Power Up points. I am a big believer in if you see something you like BUY IT as it might not be there when you come back. Last year in Amsterdam I was amazed to see that an Artist that makes some of his Sweatshirts from his art was still selling my favorite one from 15-20 years ago. The shop moved to a different location. I almost bought another but my old one is still holding up well after all these years.
  15. There is a button after you go to your bid to either revise your bid or cancel your bid. You may need to use the Confirmation E-Mail to be able to do this. To see your OBC you can go to Plan my Cruise -- select any category and you will see your OBC at the top near the circle with your initials and to the left of the Calendar and Shopping Basket icon.
  16. Like Gerry indicated it was in September of 2018. I'm sure glad she keeps track of the dates. It doesn't seem that long ago.
  17. Try the current sailing. The menus are loaded. For a good Idea of prices - Cellar Master - Pool Bar for good list of representative prices for beer and basic drinks etc.
  18. That was one heck of a B2B. He were dodging 2 more Cyclones and all ports were shifted. I had 5 excursions setup with other cruisers that were all cancelled. That was the last time I put together a group tour. Took me a month to get refunded. Luckily I hadn't collected money from the others until day of tour.
  19. Glad you found a work around. I'm assuming it may be an issue with Android as both Iain and I have never had a problem and needed to power up and down. I accidentally forgot to put my phone on Airplane mode on a SFO to Singapore flight. My phone pinged on landing and said welcome to Indonesia and 5 minutes later welcome to Singapore then Welcome to Indonesia. We were in a short holding pattern and going into both Indonesia and Singapore air space.
  20. We did a B2B a couple years ago with turn around in Yokohama. We planned a private tour (Tours by Local) but found right away that it was going to be a really rushed experience. Tokyo is about an hour away and the all aboard time was going to be something like 3:30. We did get special permission to cut it shorter and return no later than 4:00 for a 5PM departure. The whole thing fell apart on Turn Around day when we got a call at 6:30 AM advising us that a Cyclone was heading our way and the port was closing early not allowing new passengers to board. We were advised to bring a change of clothing, meds and documents to Rendezvous Lounge by 7:30 AM as we were being evacuated from the ship for the night. Thank goodness the Tours by Locals had a Act of God clause in our contract and we received a full refund. Also they shut down all subways, trains and busses. All stores shops and restaurants were also closed. Our only food was via Room Service I'm sure there would be a possibility of a Private Journey. It should be noted that most tours in Japan are done by Train and Subway as getting around Tokyo via car can be very challenging. HighSpeed Train is amazing.
  21. I know after many years this past year has been the first time I've shown any negativity toward Celebrity. Right or wrong - for 23 years I have sailed Celebrity exclusively and have begun straying earlier this year with my first non-Celebrity cruise. To put things in perspective I have been reading many of the other Forums from Cunard, Silver Seas, Azamara, Oceania and Crystal. I was surprised to read many of the same complaints as I read her. Increased Cruise Prices and cutback on food quality, availability of wines and the lack of properly trained staff. The common threads seems to be --- It isn't the same as the Old Days. The old adage come to mind - "When God wishes to punish, he answers your prayers."
  22. From speaking with our Butler on Edge he indicated many of the Butler's were offered positions on Silver Seas a sister cruise line. Other's were offered positions including Restaurant Manager etc. Our Butler shared that in his career with Celebrity working up to his current job he had been a Dishwasher, aWaiter, a Cook and a Bartender before accepting a position as a Butler.
  23. My experience is that Walk Off is permitted on all Celebrity cruises. The time will be dependent on stated arrival time and when the ship is cleared by local authorities. The norm is about 7:00-7:30 and they begin general disembarkation about 15 minutes later. Suites are escorted starting right after walk off begins and their luggage is in the terminal.
  24. My experience is that sometimes at 72 hours they lock the bids to any further changes but don't actually send out rejections until 48 prior to cruise dates. On recent cruise I was still able to modify my bet up until the 48 hours. Often if they lock you out at 72 hours it is a good indication you may have won an upgrade and they are processing it.
  25. For each account you get you can have unlimited devices but only one connected at a time. So if he is logged on to his phone and logs onto the internet with Laptop he will be asked if he wants to bump the other one off line. Just click yes and connected.
