  1. Joan, you will be our Anchor - broadcasting live from the newly refurbished Edge. Can't wait to hear your reports on what was and wasn't done. I hope some of the ship worker or crew start posting some pictures of the work in progress.
  2. To my knowledge none of the E-Class ships have the Tuscan Grill Specialty Restaurant. One of the 4 MDR is called Tuscan but is just a MDR and not a specialty. On the E-Class they usually have the Elite and above Light Breakfast in the Bistro Restaurant. Same menu as other ships just a different venue.
  3. This may answer your questions regarding Closed Loop Cruises. Not sure why the Nov 30 Equinox would not qualify may just be the ignorance of the agent you spoke with. Possibly a TA would better serve you. https://www.celebritycruises.com/blog/closed-loop-cruise
  4. I agree 100% with you and the technology is available it is Celebrity chooses not to use it. We took our first Non-Celebrity Cruise last month on Ponant (a French Small Ship Line). On the TV they had about 200 movies and 60+ stations on the in-room TV's. The had everything from French, Spanish, German, UK and US news as well as live news from Australia, China and Japan. All free. They do not use streaming services and provide them all via Satellite. That is also available to Celebrity but it is a cost constraint on what they choose to subscribe to. The main reason I use a streaming stick is I enjoy the news and can not stomach watching FOX, MSNBC, CNBC etc because they are so polarized. If nothing available we may watch Sky News or BBC News but they lack much U.S. local news.
  5. In my case - Yea I have TV, but 95% of what we watch is recorded in our Virtual VCR and many of the show have the commercials stripped from them and the others you can fast forward though. Even the news I usually have recorded and watch whenever I get up and or when away on a cruise.
  6. Smoking areas - There is a smoking area on Port on a mezzanine between decks 15 and 16 over the hamburger grill. They also have one on Deck 5 Port full aft outside of Eden. The other I believe is Aft at the Sunset Bar Port side. This one they also allow Cigars.
  7. It really depends on the ship and itinerary. If it is a repetitive cruise you are more likely able to see them months early. As far as accuracy - 50/50. On my November 25 Edge cruise the Luminae first 7 days are loaded but nothing for MDR and Blu. I"m sure it is just a place holder. Between 48 hours to 10 days they are generally loaded and again may be changed later.
  8. Really good warning. I check ours regularly using the APP. While I haven't been charged for any of the erroneous charges I often find 10 or more drinks noted on our account we did not have. I believe it is people verbally giving the wrong room number or the bartender putting in a wrong number.
  9. With due respect. I think the answer changes from Agent to Agent. If you don't like the answer call back and you may get a totally different answer or ask to speak to a Supervisor.
  10. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. I generally ignore those that think we should all be robots and enjoy our vacation in the same way. It's his vacation also and if he wants to watch football he will find many liked mind people on the ship.
  11. Forgot about the lawn club. We were on during the world cup and they broadcast games almost 24 hours a day. Sometime you would see people out there with blankets to stay warm.
  12. I don't think your husband will be disappointed. They will have Football games on in your stateroom, The Casio Bar - (4 or 5 screens and often different games on different channels) Craft Social also have multiple screens. I'm not sure which games will be broadcast. Unlike some reports above I often stream using the Premium Internet and never had a problem. I understand that is not the case for the Classic Internet.
  13. Give them a call. They should be able to apply it. On more than one occasion I have booked a second or third segment and had my agent apply it as a NR OBC. I'm not sure if this is the same as the discount mentioned above.
  14. Unfortunately, after final payment date you can not put a cabin on the normal 24 hour hold on the Celebrity Site. I'm not sure if a TA would have an ability to put it on hold or not.
  15. I saw that Celebrity Edge has entered dry docks and hope we will get more pictures. She is in Dry Docks at Chantier Nval de Marseille Shipyard Credits of photo to themaritimepost
  16. Tom - Thanks for posting here. I was reluctant to share what I was reading on FB. I'm happy that you got to meet her. She sounds like she is really interested in feedback and hopefully we wall will be rewarded for your and others feedback to her team.
  17. I know on Apex they really didn't advertise it but setup in the Bakery Area and we would occasionally stop in after a tour when lunch was finished and wanted something faster than tea in Retreat. We will be on Edge in about 5 weeks and will report back
  18. I agree they have more choices but for us we found the only one we use is Eden. We are not big meat eaters and Fine Cuts was a real disappointment mostly due to the noise levels from the adjacent Martini bar especially when they put on their show. Petite Chef - basically one and done but we've done it 3 times. We tried Raw on 5 and was OK but would not be in a rush to return. Eden Cafe has really been a hit for lunch after all the days on board have never tried Le Grand on all the cruises we have done even with free dining in a RS. I have already booked Eden for My Birthday on November 26. Last set of cruises we had dinner there 5 times. I have to say I'm really impressed with their flavor profiles.
  19. I thought I was being sly in slipping that one in. OK>>>OK I don't always proof redd but it did work. LOL
  20. That's incredible and the sign of a TRUE ocean liner. I was curious so did a google search on Maximum Speed of QM2 Queen Mary 2 is a very fast ship with a cruising service speed of 28.5 knots. The ship could complete a 5 day transatlantic crossing, but in reality most crossings are 7 days. When you compare that to most cruise ships 22-23 Knots it is truly remarkable and impressive.
  21. Love the pictures coming under the GG Bridge. One can tell that the ship hadn't been revolutionized as all of the passengers are lined up in the area that is now the Retreat Lounge. One can understand the dissatisfaction of non-Suite passengers in loosing this space. Our first cruise through the Gate was on Mercury many years ago. The day was incredibly clear for SF and at least 100 miles visibility. 20 minutes after passing under the Golden Gate the Captain came on and advised that in 30 minutes all the exterior decks would be closed. We hit 25-35 Foot waves for the next two days. The first night the MDR was empty and they had the hallways lined with bags. You literally had to hold onto the railings to walk down the hallways. Luckily none of us were affected and enjoyed that. The bright side was once we broke through the seas up to Alaska and back were like a country pond and skies with no clouds and very little wind.
  22. Actually the Gelato is one scoop in a bowl per cruise for each CC member. Ice Cream on the other hand is unlimited on all classes of ships in the OVC area. If you happen to book a RS or above you have unlimited Gelato throughout you cruise.
  23. From what I have heard is that She met with Zeniths and they unloaded on her as well as thanked her for bring back access to Retreat. She and others were also dining in the MDR and many of her senior staff were shadowing staff in all areas of the ship and actually working along side staff in places like Al Bacio. Whether she was shadowing I don't know but I'm sure she has collected some data points. That's a H3LL of a lot more the Lisa ever did. Will it make a difference? Only time will tell and I think it is a step in the right direction to understand the complaints they have been getting. Problem is that once the cat is out of the bag it is hard to get them back. They lost me as a dedicated Celebrity cruiser after 23 years and I know we will never restrict our cursing to Celebrity or any other line.
  24. Yes they do it daily in Retreat. They have a couple butlers available. On recent cruises on Revolutionized Ships they have a hot and cold station setup. The butlers serve your tea and you select from the hot and cold table and plate for you. They no longer bring out the tower with everything on it. If you are on a ship that hasn't gone through The Revolution they give you a menu and deliver everything to to you. Butlers are available for serving.
  25. When we were on Apex in April/May of this year they had afternoon tea daily in the OVC. Small sandwiches with no crust, scones, clotted cream or whipped cream and small deserts. They had it on all 3 segments - Caribbean, TA and British Isle Cruise. I'm wondering if because of the British Isle Cruise they put it on. They also had Kettles in all the rooms.
