  1. I wouldn't get my panties in a wad...nothing is really sterilized, even hospitals are filthy. If it bothers you, take a canister of Clorox wipes and have at it, I've done it plenty of times! Don't forget that phone and the TV control, dirtiest things in any cabin. And WASHY WASHY!
  2. We did Odyssey last December 11-18 and absolutely loved it. They had the official tree lighting the first sea day, we sang carols and had Santa, it was great and still more reasonable than Christmas week. It was a little cold, even in the Caribbean so we didn't spend a great deal of time in the water or ocean, but it was just great...enjoy! Ditto Peaches, my grown kids now with grown kids still talk about our cruises as family...those were the days! Sniff.
  3. You can hear the ensembles playing in Central Park about the same, just not herds of peeps. I loved the Central Park experience. But then I am perfectly happy anywhere on that class.
  4. We loved Odyssey for the great technology used on it....loved loved loved the 270 show Book. I think you'd like it too. But our fave is still the sisters, especially Allure and Symphony. Can't wait to try ICON. Odyssey seems and is smaller and a little more crowded but we would book her again in a heartbeat....but....too many ships too many trips to do. LOL
  5. Wow, people actually concern themselves with corporate politics in RCCL....ha ha we just cruise. Couldn't care less about what they spend on their own company, who they hire or fire. None of my business...and I'm a stockholder.
  6. "real life" changes daily on every ship...from ship to ship. I see nothing wrong with renderings, everybody knows they are just renderings. You might see 20 people back there some days unless the Aqua Show is playing, then you might see 300. What difference does any of that make? They are trying to show you the ship, not little mannequins of people.
  7. We had a Boardwalk cabin at the very back of the ship right on the Aqua Theater next to the rock climbing wall on Allure. We did hear a muffled noise during heavy traffic periods such as the Aqua Show and some of them lasted until around 11pm. But not enough to really bother us. I think you'll like it. Never heard the merry-go-round.
  8. Mona Gutierrez <mgutierrez@rccl.com> Team Lead Dining/AffairWhere Administration OR Marlene Prieto Administrator, Restaurant Operation Food & Beverage Operation (305)539-6000 | mprieto1@rccl.com OR RCLDINING@RCCL.COM Funny, I have never failed to get email confirmation for any dining request I have made in 28 cruises. Keep in mind special seating requests for MTD must be made once on board.
  9. Done and done and 20K pts richer. This is one reason to be a Cruise Critic! Thoughtful info from fellow cruisers....Thank you WORKING FOR OBC!
  10. Or Delta flight miles. We haven't paid for air transportation for years! This is a great deal. I will pay off our upcoming cruise and get those points. Thx.
  11. I will fit in just fine!!!! Can see myself now sitting in the pool at Swim and Tonic! Ahhhhhhh!
  12. I'm hoping they do more than just music and lighting in the Pearl. From what I've seen online, these things can do much more. It would be a waste of $$$ and technology not to do video of some kind in there. They can project anything on those walls like the IMAX etc. Can't wait to check it out.
  13. I wouldn't call $12 an hour low wages for that type of job in the states....more than I was making at my office! Many fast food places pay that wage now. California=$15. Each state has its own although the national is $7.25. No state may pay lower than that. I would never tip a fast food person. Wage increase comes with experience and responsibility. We tip in full service restaurants and always over tip on ships. But don't agree with you. That's Life, we all pay our dues. And then move on to bigger and better things.
  14. As I reported about Navi once, we booked last minute the day before departure, a GTY and found out the cabin # as we were unloading our luggage! But it was a great last minute deal and cruise! They were Beta testing the Virtual Balcony cabins, we got one...we liked it!
  15. Everything you said is pretty much incorrect. Tips are exactly the same whether you pay up front or they ad them every day: From the website: As of September 7th, 2022, the automatic service gratuity of $16.00 USD per person, per day for guests in non-suites staterooms, or $18.50 USD per person, per day for guests in Suites, will be applied to each guest’s SeaPass account on a daily basis. The gratuity applies to individual guests of all ages and stateroom categories. Applying this charge automatically helps streamline the recognition process for the crew members that work to enhance your cruise. Nothing is mentioned anywhere about any discount for paying up front. From personal experience having paid by both methods, the amount is exactly the same. And anyone is entitled to My Time Dining at any time on any ship in the fleet. That's why you select your dining time on your booking. Doesn't cost anything and is not a privilege reserved for Pay up front grats.
  16. There are soldiers with weapons on every pier at these ports. I would never be the least bit concerned about any of the things you worry about. If you stay onboard everywhere you'll be missing the time of your lives. Please go and expect a carefree vaca, you won't regret it. And RCCL makes your safety a priority not to put you in harms way, at least on the ship. They avoid storms with great aplomb. OR...if you're more comfortable, take a camping trip with all those family members in your backyard. I'm sure you'll all be safe there!
  17. Tell that to Chicago, New York and LA. At least you made me laugh.
  18. They tell you to use your set sail pass until your card is available. We have no problems.
  19. We purposely choose Sept. as our prefered month because of them. Fares are pretty much cheaper at the height of the season, yet on 15 cruises we've done in Sept. only one was a problem...and that was easily solved by rebooking our flight out of San Antonio 2 days earlier. Got to the port the day before and our cruise went on as planned. Only one other time was our itinerary changed, they started at the end in order and went backwards that fixed it. They are great at workarounds during storms, don't sweat it. We cruise Sept. 3rd coming up in fact on Allure...can't wait.
  20. Are you familiar with the term "Pot Stirrer"? Maybe not.
  21. Ahhhhh Cafe Al Bacio, my favorite venue on Celebrity. There every morning and evening for latte and croissant. Love it!
  22. But most of Ben's negative comments were about the temperature of the food which has nothing to do with the content of the dish. Second take was the blandness. The Temp problem should be alleviated with no trouble, I'm hoping they get it right by our Allure in Sept. I won't complain so much about the dishes, but I'll send it right back if it's cold.
  23. We're doing Resort for a Day in Sept. on Allure in Coz at the Allegra resort, same price as Nachi almost but much nicer pools, beach and restaurants. In fact its just next door to Nachi. Good reviews. We'll likely just visit Bananarama at Roatan or even do the ship's tour to Tabyana just so we can get there cheap. Been so many times, but we're traveling with Nlaws this time who haven't been. I usually just stand out in the water with a drink all day! LOL We're staying onboard at Costa Maya. One and done.
