  1. We never pay until final payment day. Once they have your money.....you have no recourse. Rules are rules. BTW, we book way in advance, we've never lost any money doing it that way. I've checked all our cruises on final payment day and there haven't been any that were cheaper than what we booked 1 to 2 yrs out. All our reductions and there have been many were done before that date. That's my method and I won't be changing it. Have found some real steals last minute but that's the exception.
  2. I was talking about the automatic tips, we always slip the staff $. Plus, didn't any of you get the pirate talk....nobody knows a joke when they see it nowadays.
  3. It may be time for a mutiny! Me Hearties! Tips will be removed and nobody will get a 10 until this stops. Maybe the only answer. Although it really doesn't bother me, I never eat 2 of anything. But I'll participate if it'll help others.
  4. Sailing Allure out of Galv. Sept. 14th in an inside. Planning on trying again trying for a OVbalcony or higher. Will only bid minimum or slightly above up to $50 above minimum per person. Figure O class chances are better. Have a couple months to go yet though. So I'll be watchin ya. Good luck everybody.
  5. So sorry it's all over 😥Welcome home. And thanks for the memories!
  6. I prefer that venue inside rather than outside...but one of my favorite desserts ever on any ship is their Dulce de Leche OMG soo good.
  7. First breakfast, second breakfast, levensies, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, supper.... ah the life of a Hobbit!.
  8. Not trying to be snide, but it beats having to make them myself.LOL I too wish more would open on port days though. We ate at El Loco Fresh on Port days. Not TexMex but ok for tacos and nachos. Looking forward to eating at Sabors on Allure in Sept.
  9. Was hoping to meet Jordan this Sept on Wonder, but we switched it to Icon Sept. '25...Now I am betting she is going to ICON for her next contract...so hoping I get to meet her there. She's great.
  10. These are always impressive to me based on Maritime history. Love the cannon.
  11. Ask him for one of those outsized trash bags to keep in the bathroom and request he empty it at days end every day. I have even taken tall kitchen bags with me for laundry and trash, I always hated those stupid little buckets!
  12. That's why I love that book "The Millionaire Next Door"
  13. I'm really looking forward to our 2025 Asent cruise in one of the middle Sunset Verandas aft. But it was no more than some balconies on other decks.
  14. They make some kind of fees, DH handles it. And one is a yearly fee card. We do have a RCCL card but never use it so don't guess it'll ever pay off. We have a Delta card cuz they offered 20k pts...but yes, no interest. Does it matter to you that I put it like that?
  15. Big Hair too! LOL I have a small Sun visor and no cattle...LOL
  16. I don't begrudge anyone their money or their choices, but we learned a very valuable lesson early in our married life and swore we'd never make those mistakes again. So for 27 years we've never once used our CCs to finance anything. We use one card, AMEX and the only reason is so we can fly free. We pay it off every month, they don't make much off us in interest. After our big financial debacle, my favorite quote was, "If you don't have the cash to buy it now what makes you think you'll have it next month or the next or the next?" Save your money, then buy it. We book early, and put cash away in our fun account until final payment so we cruise without worrying about having to pay off a cruise on the CC. I am naturally frugal, do my research and don't pull the plug on anything unless it's a bargain...so far...so good. ICON is the only cruise that just about choked me to book. But we have 2 years to save for it. Just an inside though, nothing fancy. If we were wealthy we'd probably book a loft or something, but the chances of that are nil at this point. We are tent camping this weekend and scrounging around for deals on new cots today. Ahhhh, the simple life!
  17. Some day when you have time, read The Millionaire Next Door...great book.
  18. And some have 10 maxed out CCs too. We have been debt free except for what little is left on our truck for several years and cruise now more than we did back when we first discovered cruising and could only afford an inside. Worked our way up to balconies but still hop on an inside when it's really a good deal. We built our retirement home 2 years ago and paid cash. My car is a 2012 Prius that we bought to save gas money, not the planet. I do my shopping at Wally World and our biggest splurge is a cruise once and sometimes if we're lucky 2 per year. We charge every penny to AMEX, pay it off every month and we fly to Florida to catch our ships free on AMEX partner Delta flights. My grown kids cruise with us sometimes but they pay their way. They were grown before we started. But as I said, we wouldn't spend that kind of money even if we had it on a $20k suite. Yep.....priorities all right.
  19. We once got a steal and I mean that literally on the Presidential Suite on Liberty (a mistake by the Next Cruise agent) and shared it with 3 other couples...about the same as a balcony per couple. That will be the limit for us. Don't see it happening again and never will, we don't make a 10th of what OP does, not even! We'll never make Pinnie (don't have the time!), and we'll never be able to afford another suite. Heck we hardly can afford our inside cabin on ICON. I always wanted at least a loft, but that has become unachievable. Not to worry, we can still be on a ship in the Big Blue and that's what matters most to me. But the day is coming sooner than later, when we won't be able to cruise at all. Such is life.
  20. But that condition is easily overlooked...Iknow, I did it. Didn't read all the fine print on the certificate and just took it with me....lot of trouble. Just warning people, read the fine print.
  21. Everything? That's a pretty finite word, lots of other stuff marketed for adults.
  22. But you can't just take the cert with you to board, it already has to be activated 2 weeks before you board, that's all I'm saying.
