I can relate to that, In 2012, Arcadia, Sydney to southampton. Quite strict and many comments about the Aussies dress standards from the Poms.

Been to PNG three times over the years, once on a land trip and twice on cruises, last visit some 10 years ago. Not my favourite destination, although a few interesting sites to see. What do they do with all the foreign aid money, lol. I did not see a lot of improvement. As for obtaining Kina, try your post office, generally got our foreign currency there.

I don't have a credit card these days, just an ANZ Debit Card, so the only money I can spend is my own. I am not good on the finances. My late wife a one time CBA bank person was the financial director. Never had a problem paying for things with my debit card, inc local travel and cruise last year. But I always like to have a couple of hundred dollars in my wallet, after all, cash is King. Some of the Chinese and Pizza type eateries I visit on my country road trips only take cash. Dodging the tax man.

Baz, you mention the clientele on your cruise. Were these people on the cruise, dressed appropriately for the MDR? Give us a run down on the pax dress and behavior on your ship, please.

I was on last cruise of ye olde Regal Princess in Sept 2007, LA to Sydney. she then went on to Singapore for re birth as Pacific Dawn. Yes she was a great ship. 32 years old now.

So much pressure on the speciality dining these days, i.e, many people have cruise credit from cancelled cruises, complimentray dining vouchers from their TA, packages etc. Out of control. But no fear the Queen got a two top a couple of years ago.
