  1. Lokrum Island, just a very short ferry ride from Dubrovnik was a favorite of ours. But, we have not visited since Game of Thrones was filmed there. That could have changed the experience. It had been a nice place for a swim and a walk, leaving behind the chaos that Dubrovnik is on ship days.
  2. That is a good change especially as you will have had an overnight in Stockholm. I hope you have a wonderful cruise!
  3. I would disagree! Anything that Rick Steves recommends becomes over run with tourist very quickly.
  4. I don't know about other lines but HAL has trays under their ice buckets in your cabin. They're not huge but I have used them to bring snacks back to the cabin😊
  5. You get to choose any available cabin in the meta category that you booked. Example - Book an obstructed view balcony and upgrade to any balcony of your choice. It does not have to be the highest category.
  6. Check what the refund options are for the private tour provider and check reviews on TripAdvisor or Yelp or whatever your preferred site is. In most cases, the private tour is better and less expensive.
  7. No, it shouldn't. Your email is tied to your Mariner number. However, with HAL's tech issues I wouldn't be surprised if it did show up at a different price.
  8. On our most recent HAL cruise the last sets from BB Kings or Rolling Stone started at 10:45 and ended 45 minutes later. A DJ took over after that but I don't know how late they played because I was usually ready to go back to the cabin by midnight.
  9. If you're watching another table for an entire meal you are also ignoring your dinner companions.
  10. Anytime! Have fun learning about cruising. It does have its quirks compared with land travel but it can be so enjoyable.
  11. Hi Heather, welcome to Cruise Critic! You can request your preferred seating before your cruise. Contact your travel agent or HAL and make your request. There is a choice of an early seating or a late seating for fixed dining. You may or may not get what you request but, if not, you may ask again when you're onboard. In the future make that request when you book. Carol
  12. I would vote no on this. It is just too tight of a space for four adults to maneuver about the cabin, share a bathroom etc. And at night with the extra bed folded out, it is even more difficult to navigate your way to the bathroom.
  13. As far as I know, none of the Holland America ships have glass on the railings of the promenade decks or the aft view by the seaview pool.
  14. Added bonus to waiting until you are onboard is using OBC!
  15. Did you talk with anyone about this while you were onboard?
  16. What a nice review! I'm glad that you and your family had a wonderful time.
  17. We did not tender in Trondheim on the NS in May. Not our ship
  18. Q1 - No! A passport does not replace needing a visa. Both would be needed if a visa is required. Q.2 Correct Q3 - No, the passport is not required when you book but will be required as a part of your online check in process prior to the cruise (if required for the cruise). Your passport will certainly open up some wonderful new opportunities for travel! Enjoy!
  19. Thanks so much for the information! We're not going until 2025 but I enjoy planning😊
  20. That looks like a great alternative to Volunteer Point! Did you get a price? Thanks!
  21. I find that is the best way to find the official port schedule. I haven't found other sites to be as reliable.
  22. Maybe it goes to the people who clean it? Wash the towels and robes? Similar to cabin steward and other laundry duties.
  23. That was the case for us in Amsterdam in May. We were given a time frame to check in at the muster station.
