  1. @rivieraraver I would suggest you get a free app like White Noise Lite, which can generate a variety of background white noise (self-contained; doesn't require internet). Try it out a few weeks before your cruise so you can get used to it. It really works to smooth out any discrete noises so they just blend right in. We actually got a noise machine after our first Reflection cruise in 2019 after using fans to create our own white noise since the ship clanked and groaned all night. Got used to the white noise camouflage--now we can't get to sleep when it is dead silent!
  2. @Daveywavey70 You started posting your approval of Celeb's test by claiming every particle was absorbed in your own lungs and therefore no one could even detect if you were vaping. I have asked you to consider the comments and stories from people complaining about smelling, having allergic reactions to, and/or being otherwise negatively affected by vaping. You have asserted that really discreet and considerate vapers can do it without anyone noticing. You haven't responded to people's actual stories except by getting bent out of shape at anyone arguing about vaping being as bad as smoking. Forget the comparison to smoking. Please provide your alleged research about all particulates not going anywhere except your own lungs. What people are angry at is what appears to us to be a highly delusional notion that vaping absolutely cannot affect, or be detected by, anyone else nearby. The discussion isn't about vaping in general--it is whether vaping should be allowed in the casino. Almost everyone has conceded it can still be in the outdoor areas. You complain about the negative reactions to your posts, but you have never explained why people who have enjoyed "fume-free' casinos for decades on Celebrity should tolerate this change. Provide proof it cannot affect anyone else (including unpleasant odors) and I for one will happily drop my objections to your arguments.
  3. @Jim_Iain has reported they give you 1 liter bottles, so that is something at least. Would be nice if they let you select the sodas.
  4. On further consideration, we should look at the "word of mouth" communication approach as a fantastic opportunity: Let's use every chance we get to tell everyone we meet about how vaping is not allowed. "They thought about it and then reconsidered. That's why they took the signs away." What are they going to do, write a letter? No sign allowing means not allowed. That is my version, and I'm sticking with it.
  5. So, it is the rest of British food that regularly gets dissed?
  6. No signs are worse than signs. How will smokers react upon seeing vapers being allowed? Word of mouth will have all types of wrong info spreading around. This approach is also guaranteed to generate confrontations as traditional cruisers complain to smokers of both types that they are breaking the NS rules. The staff doesn't like enforcing simple pool chair rules--Lord knows how willing they will be settling fights between gambling and nicotine addicts. Thanks for your efforts, @Georgia_Peaches!
  7. I have to say I am surprised at the number of responses that pretty much upbraid the OP for his desire to set the transfer deadline aside. This is the same forum that is nonstop attacking Celeb for its utter disregard toward its pasengers in the Japan overbookings, the Beyond cancellations, the many cutbacks or changes in dining, and now the decision to toss the no smoking rule aside by creating a vaping exception. All oftl those situations involved Celeb changing its policies or promises without sufficient notice. Thinking it might just be fair for a guy asking for a small thing to be accommodated. What upsets y'all about that? No one responding here ever asked anything of Celeb?
  8. There are lots of deadlines that don't seem rational to anyone asking for an exception. Taxes have penalties if late ..why can't they just let it go? Tuitions need to be paid on time, but it wouldn't kill anybody to accept it late, would it? Oh, that prescription expired? Can't it be renewed anyway? Exception to rules cause chaos, I tell you, CHAOS!!! Give them a day (or 36 hrs) and they'll want a week! The universe's very foundations will crumble, and the sun will soon fall out of its orbit around the earth! No, no, a thousand times NO! For another perspective, conside Ralph Waldo Emerson's famous quote: "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." Good luck anyway!
  9. @Georgia_Peaches Thanks for your updates. Sounds like you are wringing every bit of value our of this cruise! Just sorry so much of it is focused on vaping. 🙊
  10. Interesting, I just spent 3 nights in Las Vegas. Visited Flamingo, Red Rock, Bellagio, Linq and O'Sheas. Smoking smell permeated all of them, and Red Rock especially had numerous smokers both on the machines and playing at the bars. Many table players had ashtrays with butts next to them. Couldn't even get close to BJ table without hating the smoke. I expect vaping if it goes fleet-wide will be more tolerable but still annoying.
  11. @ChucktownSteve I am not affected. I am just surprised not one person has said "You should have gotten travel insurance" so I thought maybe there was something making it inapplicable. Seems like all types of those comments happen when people have flights cancelled due to weather, or they get sick after final payment or whatever. I can't imagine all these posters whom I recognize as experienced cruisers didn’t get insurance for their expensive ancillary plans.
  12. Stop by GS again and make sure they do know. A BC cruise is given to people hoping they will gamble enough to make it a profitable promotion. Letting them know you won't be in the casino any more after experiencing the vaping could have more of an impact than all the emails sent by those of us not on board.
  13. I am new to this topic, but what I haven't read is any mention of whether travel insurance helps here?
  14. People who have experienced discomfort from vapers such as yourself, who claim nothing is noticeable, have every right to tell you that you're wrong. Don't you realize that you are saying they are lying when they relate their stories? I personally don't think you are lying...but I think you are rationalizing right up to the edge of it. Until you can prove that nothing gets emitted, you are polluting the air other people breathe. Disagree all you want, but if you ignore their concerns don't expect your lack of respect to generate warmth and a chorus of kumbayas.
  15. @georgiaguy Just want to note that your OP was NOT a dumb question!
  16. Alas, bourbon or scotch for me. Easier on blood sugar. Sounds intriguing, though!
  17. Things are getting more casual everywhere. We are at Grand Canyon in the El Tovar where the DR is promoted as "fine dining" and dress code similar to Celeb's chic. Shorts everywhere, t-shirts, hiking boots....almost as if people planning exploration of a desert phenomenon don't want to pack special clothes for 2 hrs. Shock! 😉
  18. One reason to not think people posting "old questions" should just rely on searching old threads...things are changing.
  19. @bEwAbG Perhaps if the purported "Reps" at X let supervisors know they are getting complaints and questions about fears of major cutbacks, they could be trained to give info about where to complain. That is what your company apparently gave to your call staff--X should do the same. People fearing hurricanes, or booking problems, routinely call for information. Not out of line to ask questions about what they get for their cruise fares coming up. Call them sales staff only if they are to be seen as no source of info on problems. I think the OP wasn't telling the staff to read CC. I think he likely talked about reading things here that generated questions, and the rep wanted to know the source, which led to the conversation he described. I have been surprised when I have talked to a travel agent who hadn't heard of it. (Needless to say, didn't hire!)
  20. @Hawkstar33 I've got no issue with you calling to discuss the complaints being raised on CC considering your upcoming cruises. Lots of people have talked about communicating via survey responses, or calling X HQ, or writing to the execs. If you are willing to take the time to actually expect a Custome Service Rep to fill that role, more power to you. I personally wouldn't expect much result, but I think no one should denigrate you trying, nor should anyone be so rude about it. The responses here remind me of the HS "in crowd" all jumping in and making fun of the new student who asked a question they are too cool to answer.
  21. Hold the presses! You have hit on something!!! The MDR menu changes are being made to make the newly limited room service offerings more attractive! Get that $12 more often and pay off those billions in debt!
  22. We really MUST now dress nicely so at least something in the dining room looks good!
  23. I think the inconsistency is annoying. All the changes, mostly unannounced, can leave us going through many different phases of planning and anticipation of what our cruise is like during the 1-2 years after booking. This change in alcohol policy could have meant consideration of getting a drink package had it been in effect when we booked--and it is about 25% more expensive now. We can all judge whether someone is being petty, but it is very strange that Celebrity seems so willing to annoy its pax.
  24. Oh, there is bitching, on my sofa! 18 nights booked in 2020, 9 in '21, and 9 in 22. All cancelled. So, ZERO!
