  1. I wouldn’t take any euros, personally. We live in a largely cashless world nowadays. Europe is no different. And tips aren’t a thing in Europe like they are in the US or the Caribbean. Personally, it’s one of my favorite things about cruising in Europe.
  2. I echo this sentiment. If your son has such specific needs that are dire to him actually surging the cruise, then it sounds like, unfortunately, cruising with him isn’t something that is either feasible or that you should be trying to do. I would sincerely suggest a land vacation where you can bring with you whatever you need.
  3. We had the exact opposite experience last year. Seattle port was the easiest embarkation we ever experienced. There were plenty of porters, and the staff there was great.
  4. Same! And I’m on the east coast so I actually have to stay up until Midnight. But it’s worth it to get that A01 boarding zone. Though my husband thinks I’m crazy for wanting to be among the first to board. Last time we literally were the first. 😁
  5. No one is forcing you to pay additional gratuities above the standard ones. It’s completely optional. So the answer to your question is $115.64 per person ($98 x 1.18), plus whatever additional you might want to give.
  6. Unfortunately no one can tell you if you will be ok because they can’t predict the future. Delays happen. When embarkation. With traffic to the airport. With TSA security lines. Personally, I never book flights that early. Just don’t want to risk it.
  7. Great to hear! Thanks for the feedback. I had already booked this tour with this company for our upcoming cruise in a few weeks. Decided to take a chance because they are half the price of what the cruise line is charging for the same tour. It’s good to hear that you had a good experience.
  8. Exactly why I don’t book with travel agents. I’m sorry that this is happening to you. It’s unfortunate to have to learn this way. Hopefully they will get back to you soon. Good luck.
  9. I mean, my husband and I are Americans and we don’t fit the stereotype of what people make Carnival cruisers out to be. We are empty nesters. I’m in my 40’s and he is in his 50’s. He doesn’t drink, I don’t drink that much. We cruise to relax and see the world. We never hang out in the bars or nightclubs onboard. Nor on the lido deck. We relax, we do trivia, we explore the ship and ports, we go to shows after dinner or we watch a movie on the big screen (if we are not too tired)…we have a wonderful cruise every time. And we never leave we complaints. We have sailed during spring break and have never witnessed any unruliness. Perhaps because of our lifestyle and places on the ship we avoid. Who knows. But we love Carnival for the value, because there’s always something to do, because the staff is amazing, and because we simply have fun. So by all means, try it out. I truly believe a cruise is what you make of it. As a side note, we are sailing out of Dover in a couple weeks for the first time and really looking forward to visiting your neck of the woods for the first time. 😉
  10. You can’t add cruises to the app. The only thing you can do in the app when not on a cruise is to add a countdown to your next cruise. You can’t have two countdowns. Your Cruise Manager is where you add all of your cruises to. They typically get added automatically, but you can manually add them with your confirmation number if needed. You cannot access your Cruise Manager through the app. All you can do is click on a link that then takes you to Carnival’s website via a browser on your phone. It is not done through the app. If you try to click on any link in the app:
  11. Next time make a video of what you witness and post it all over social media. That’s literally the only way Carnival is ever going to do anything about it.
  12. I’ve never seen them restock in port. They have huge freezers so yes, they freeze what they need to.
  13. Well they have had a month to get them ready, so I would certainly hope so! 😆
  14. There’s no advantage of having a PVP here. The help the OP needs can just as easily be received by simply calling up Carnival’s customer service line. That’s if anything can actually be done. Most likely the cabin category they are trying to book is sold out for the number of people they are booking.
  15. With respect, any new ship in the fleet is going to be the most talked about thing during its first few weeks of sailing. It really doesn’t matter if it’s a new build or a repurposed ship. Personally, I think they could have created even more buzz, and increased demand even more, if they made the Costa ships (that were repurposed to Carnival) adults-only. The style of those ships are already more elegant. To combine that with Carnival’s entertainment, which lacks on the actual Costa ships and most similar cruise lines, on ships that people can enjoy without unruly kids would be fantastic.
  16. Enjoy it! The Sagrada Familia was my favorite part of my trip to Barcelona years ago. I’m not even religious. It’s just from an architectural and artistic standpoint, there is nothing else like it in the world. Park Guell is also impressive, on a smaller scale, if you have time to do that as well.
  17. The thing about AirTags is they have a Bluetooth range of 33 feet. Which means they need to be within that distance to not only an iPhone, but an iPhone that is turned on and has its Bluetooth turned on. They are not meant for tracking things in live time. You would need a GPS tracker that works with cell service for that.
  18. They didn’t get a refund. They got $500 OBC and $150 towards shore excursions.
  19. For the life of me I don’t understand why they don’t just make it available to purchase online before your cruise. It would be so much easier on everyone.
  20. I’m going to be honest, I didn’t read the review because they lost me when they called it a “boat” in the title. I have sailed on the Vista before and loved it. The Havana area on that class of ship is the absolute best. We had the pool pretty much to ourselves the entire cruise. At most there were only ever 2 or 3 people in there with us. I would book the ship again in a heartbeat and I would encourage everyone to form their own opinions, don’t base them off other people’s because some people are just miserable with life in general and can’t ever be pleased.
  21. Refunds are applied back to the original form of payment. So if you paid with a gift card, it’s back on the gift card. That’s why you don’t throw out gift cards until you are sure you don’t need a refund.
  22. It’s still early for Oct excursions. Just keep checking back.
  23. For what it’s worth, I have done a dozen cruises on Carnival, some during spring break, including a 4-day and a 5-day during spring break. I have never encountered unruly passengers or seen fights break out either. So I also don’t get it. But I also don’t hang out in bars, nightclubs of even on the lido. It’s not my thing. So maybe my husband and I just avoid it due to our lifestyle and personal choices. I really don’t know.
  24. Call Carnival and ask them. There is technically no such thing as single occupancy on a Carnival cruise. But, you can still book only one person in a room. But the rate is based on double occupancy.
