  1. Don't know about Solstice. Used regular shoes on my 2022 cruise.
  2. Watching people is always interesting. Years ago was my favorite pastime when in Vegas. There is more judgment passed on Cruise Critic than on board. If someone in something less than "evening chic" is in the dining room best to ignore their appearance and not let it ruin your cruise. 2023 is casual to very casual. Like it or not it is reality today. PS nobody ever cared - even in the 1990s - what someone wore outside the dining rooms.
  3. That has been there for over 1 year. The difference today is it can be a self test. That part was made clearer recently. Proof either a dated photograph or the actual.negative test hopefully in a plastic bag. Trying to reduce cases with multiple sea days makes sense. Celebrity has made the requirement clear and simple
  4. If the system does not automatically cancel your reservations ask at Blu the first night. Not anything to be concerned about.
  5. The last poster said it well. Better to bring them than to need them and not have them. We carry photos of our passports on our phones. Why not take a pic of your covid cards too? That way they cannot be lost or stolen when on a shore excursion. Lots easier to replace a phone.
  6. If the weather is nice a band of some sort usually sets up near the pool late afternoons. All ships.
  7. Have usually seen tours specifically designed for those with mobility restrictions. Don't know your itinerary but am aware that Celebrity has needed to find new tour operators and many tours involve lots of hiking or walking. My DW is not restricted to a wheelchair but is unable to participate in most excursions. Just looked at two ports on an upcoming cruise and about 2/3 would work for someone in a wheelchair. 4 would not - they involve historical buildings or hiking. The others might be a challenge but doable.
  8. Within a day gets you your choice.
  9. It will likely be permitted in the future when covid is over. We have downlined in the past. Advance notice was required in order to have customs and immigration in place even if the cruise began and never left Schengen countries. Made little sense but many laws & rules do not.
  10. To the OP. All the excursions disappeared because Celebrity suspended sailing for years due to covid. Now Celebrity is organizing tours again. Some old vendors went out of business. All vendors need to obtain the required insurances. Expensive and sometimes difficult. Thus in many cases Celebrity has limited knowledge of the tours. Know you want more information, but often you will need to hunt for info. Repeated calls to Celebrity will NOT help as the agents only know what is on the tour info sheet.
  11. Agree, but the question from the OP was can you bring wine on board at European ports. As said, yes you can bring wine on board at port calls - really anywhere. You might be allowed to take a bottle or two to your cabin OR the wine might be held by security until the last day of your cruise. About 50/50 - either way.
  12. Downlining is no longer allowed. Covid ended the practice. No exceptions except if arrival using FBC is delayed thus allowing boarding at another port. If you left early you would be likely banned from cruising with RCL and pay a fee. Pre Covid was $65pp. Don't do it. It would likely violate French immigration law as well. Taking a train or ferry from the final port would be a much better idea.
  13. Always had the steward either trade out the bubbly for a bottle of red wine or gave it to them. We have always enjoyed the food at Blu. Never much worried about the view as we eat late and it is usually dark outside for dinner. Extra cost for us was about $35pp a day. Value judgements for Aqua is personal.
  14. Welcome to Cruise Critic. The specialty restaurants are different for different ships and the cost varies. Suggest you go to your ship on the website.
  15. Maybe but not likely Just bring something that shows your new cabin number, cruise document from before and passport. You should be able to go on line and get a new boarding pass. Forget the stupid luggage tags. A porter will tag them at the pier. I do suggest a piece of masking tape stuck on each suitcase with your cabin number written in Sharpie pen
  16. The number one rule today for cruising today is to be flexible. You misunderstood. If a Veranda GTY would get you a midship 2A Veranda; why would anyone ever book anything except a GTY. Think of it logically. Same with a suite. A Suite GTY is not likely to get you the penthouse. Nothing shady. You read the information and focused on the part that benefitted you. Not the entire web posting.
  17. Have been assigned immediately and once 3 days before the cruise. Had a non obstructed veranda that was next to a crew access door that slammed often and a nice veranda far aft. Harris said it well.
  18. Self administered tests are also required on longer cruises on Celebrity. Test and then take a picture or bring the test stickcin a baggie It easy. Maybe too easy but trying to keep case count down.
  19. Cruising simply put has changed. Over 5% of those over 75 are gone since Covid started in 2020. Celebrity is looking for younger cruisers. As for luxury, Royal, Princess and HAL have all had similar cutbacks. Looking for luxury? There are choices but the prices are thru the roof elsewhere for desirable itineraries. Right now demand for many cruises exceeds supply.
  20. The OP asked about Rome. As it is an 45 minutes or more to Rome if everything goes perfectly or about 1.5 hours using the port shuttle bus, a taxi and train - very risky. There are interesting ruins right in Civitavecchia and a could nice places for lunch. Also ruins north of town you could access with a rental car. Pickup available 1 minute from the port shuttle bus stop.
  21. Agree but soft serve with a couple shots of say Amarula is maybe better. Or another flavor.
  22. Is that better or worse that I received a MOVEUP upgrade 5 weeks after my 2020 cruise was cancelled? Got to remember much of the web stuff is not generated by people with English as their first language.
  23. Nothing. You join the line. Have not had anyone actually check to see if I was early. Obviously late not an issue. By 1pm no lines at all. Time slots have been in effect for a while in an attempt to stop lines of a few thousand trying to checkin at the same time.
  24. Speak to the restaurant host when you board and arrange for a table the best meets your needs. Also look at eating late when it is much less crowded. On your prior cruise did you go to the food or hotel manager or customer relations manager?
