  1. Agree. The app is only for lifeboat drill and health questions. Do the rest on elsewhere. Read the daily for activities. Looking at menus until one is on board is not rewarding as menus are often either wrong or changed.
  2. TAs are booked because of first - itinerary. Second - itinerary. TAs always have a huge number of Elites and higher. Have done both and like the time change on Westbound. Weather is a red herring as there can be an ugly storm during any month, but on a TA a captain can vary the course by up to about 300 miles N or S to.avoid storms.
  3. The reason many policies cannot be sold in some states is the insurance regulators require a payout of at least X%. Usually 50-60%. Some possible losses such as rental cars, luggage, travel delays and csncellations - even cruises - can be covered for very little by simply using the proper credit card. Interesting the OPs question was answered in about two answers. People buy insurance for only two reasons. To cover a catastrophic loss you could not pay by writing a check. And because it is required like auto coverage. That it. The other fact is most people do NOT understand the coverage they already have. Spoke with a CC poster who did not know their existing PPO insurance coverage would cover them with a max out of pocket of $4000. They thought they had no international coverage.
  4. The menus and activities come and go. My April cruise has my one shore excursion showing along with port arrival and departure times. Nothing else. Had not looked in weeks. We will eat something off the menu each day. I look at it as the same as when we went to a Greek restaurant yesterday. We found out their 3 specials when we arrived.
  5. You have insurance to cover a loss you cannot afford. Our policy covers us with a maximum out of pocket of $4000. Covers us except for war zones and places such as Iran, North Zorea, Venezuela and a couple others. Our cruise are on a credit card with cancellation coverage. Thus we do not have trip coverage. Ours is a Medicare Advantage plan acquired through our former employer.
  6. What is the itinerary of your ship. On a Pacific Coastal on Celebrity there are no checks at intermediate ports. Only after you visited Mexico and ended your cruise in San Pedro. If going north you would have a check in Canada if your cruise ends there.
  7. Always is. News is about the bad stuff. The problems are in a couple of cities and right on the border. We no longer drive to Mexico. Live 1 hour north of the border. Just stay in tourist areas, don't wear flashy jewelry and you will be fine. Every city has areas you do not want to be. That includes the US.
  8. You can likely disembark within 30 minutes of docking. On shore you can do what you want. Just be back on board 30 mi uses before departure
  9. Truly suggest waiting to do this after you board because if you want to book as a group EVERYONE in the group must be linked to every other person. Multiple steps. Would take a couple hours. The only other thing is having each party book the restaurant for the same time. Then see the host on boarding .
  10. We certainly-once again-have gotten off topic. The changes are what they are. Nothing sinister. The contract say X has the right to change ports and schedules. On an upcoming cruise the ending port was changed 3 times. Not happy. Was told I had a choice between accepting the changes or cancellation with the normal penalties.
  11. Definitely maybe. In most ports yes as we connected to the port wifi. Onboard with WhatsApp poor connection that cut in and out.
  12. There are water bottle filling stations and the water is reverse osmosis treated. It does taste a bit flat as no.salts are added. If you want to carry water on board was told the allowance is the same as sodas. 1 12pk per passenger brought on board with your carry on bags. Too much breakage and thus leaks in checked baggage.
  13. Went to dinner and show about 6:30. Turned thermostat all the way down. Was about 45F outside. Was about 50F inside when we got to the cabin. AC in that cabin on Summit tended to follow the temp outside. We would both be happy at 62-65. A blanket is great. Love windows open at night when possible and outside temps in 40s or 50s. Have never seem an HVAC system that shut off is there was no motion. Would seem that would shut it off at night after people went to sleep.
  14. OK, am guessing you booked them with Celebrity? When is your cruise? Did you pay with OBC? If so about a week later it should show up on the app. If you paid with a credit card, look at the activity on your card. If you signed up for notifications- doesn't happen automatically- you will get an email along with dozens of annoying messages about cruise sales.
  15. Using them will likely put you on crew frequencies that would not be good. Leave them home.
  16. A generic term saying that Celebrity Cruises the World.
  17. You already asked this same question. We have had our cabin down to 10C/50F. Without opening the veranda door we can get it to 17C/65F by turning the thermostat down before dinner. I have had cabins that shut off without a card in the thermostat. Really simple solution - get another Seapass and leave it in the switch.
  18. Two things - Your TA has a long history of customer service (or lack of same) issues. If you are booked into a group that requires some membership etc then it could be an issue. There is no difference in qualifying for a group from Canada vs the USA. My TA has access to various group blocks that require X number of cabins to be booked. Nothing else. Good luck with your booking.
  19. $5 on sea days in the afternoon. Saw players ask for a $5 minimum one day when there was no action. Minimum changed from $10 to $5.
  20. Actually there is prime Rib. Call and ask. Let them know clearly exactly what change you would like. Absolutely do not blame them. You entered into a contract and you are asking for the change. As others have said since 2015 we have had exactly 4 out of 10 cruises without a change that deleted or changed ports.
  21. On Beyond or Apex you cannot order from the MDR menu in Blu because of the location of the kitchens. On the other classes of ships they share a kitchen.
  22. The heating and cooling take a while to move the temperature. We like to sleep cool so simply turn the thermostat down around 5pm. It is very comfortable and we like 65 or less at home. Don't understand top sleep. No idea about your make up mirror. In Blu on Apex you cannot order off the MDR menu. You can on the other classes of ships as Blu and the MDR share a kitchen.
  23. To the Op. Things are certainly different in 2023 compared to pre Covid. Last summer Celebrity was short staffed and cruisers came to fill the ship so service declined. Recently cruised on Princess and it often took 3 hours to get through a MDR dinner. Worse issues than Celebrity. The big question to be answered is is the ship fully staffed? If not then are there proportionately fewer passengers. Is yes then all is good. The problem is you really will not likely know anything until final payment and not know exactly until you board
  24. And 35 people in either a pub or cabin crawl would be a lot. More than maybe 20 people per group you cannot socialize at a bar and be served in a timely manner. In a cabin think about 35 people in a veranda cabin. Even 20 is tight.
