  1. It makes sense because the OP said the cabins are not connected. The age used to be 21. Changed after some problems
  2. Just off Princess. Cookies only available at International Cafe. Only Chocolate Chip or Oatmeal Rasin. In 2 weeks nary a double chocolate! Cookies were smaller so got 2.
  3. Seems most moveups are 3 days before your cruise. Thus with no covid testing not likely moveup to suites but to verandas the 3 day time frame is likely.
  4. We returned to Princess after 32 YEARS. The prior cruise had wonderful crew, ok food and ship; but organizational issues with reservations, tendering and assisting getting to the cruise that made us wish we had stayed home. Fast forward to 2023 and the ship was great except the dreadful kitchen so getting around was a hassle, the food was OK (sometimes less than ok) and the undermanned crew worked their very best. The app was hopeless, coordinating tendering and dining reservations dreadful - cannot post my true feelings. Entertainment varied from a comedian who wasn't funny to a couple pretty good musicians. The buffet was not bad. Left Sabatinis without eating. Unedited. Wine selection fine in Vines, but took 4 days to get bottles to the MDR. What was strange is on Celebrity last year when the Summit was short staffed the officers stepped up to assist and were very visible. Only saw an officer on Emerald a couple times. Not sure if they care. Our upcoming cruise is back to Celebrity.
  5. Easy solution. Find a wine in Vines you enjoy and request the waiter to have a bottle in the restaurant. They brought a nice Zin for me and an oakey Chardonnay for DW.
  6. Sadly had it twice in Crown. Cold both times. Flavor from the touch of whiskey and blue cheese was good
  7. The app is a disaster. Service in MDR averaging 1 1/2 hours to get main course served! Reservation in advance? Was not possible. First two nights took 1-2 HOURS to be seated. Need to have adequate staff in place or stop selling cabins
  8. On board Emerald now. Food portions have been made smaller, but one can order multiple items with no upcharge. Very short of staff with organizational issues in dining and tendering. Long lines to get seated and dinner ofter 2+ hours with slow service. Terrible planning on tendering. Hundreds in line and hours to disembark. Very chaotic. Specialty dining so far disappointing. Happy to pay a few more dollars, but sadly received cold or poor food in both Crown and Sabatinis.
  9. Current Panama Canal cruise had a M&G that was ill attended. Again few private tours organized. Pre covid had meetings where opportunity to discuss private tours and events on board - slot pull, cabin crawl, duck hunt etc were discussed. On Princess have seen poor participation. In the past Celebrity meetings had hundreds attending. Again Celebrity gave big support. Princess much less.
  10. Friends ended up in hospital mid cruise. Their laundry never caught up with them. Sadly, would not expect you to see yours again. FWIW, we would never send anything to a ship's laundry that could shrink, fade, is fragile or is of real/sentimental value. We do those items in the cabin sink or simply take them home unwashed.
  11. Agree with the addition that I would rather shoot myself than endure the hellish transit between terminals at Heathrow.
  12. Cruises to Quebec City etc are all round trip starting and ending in the US. No PVSA issues. No need to elevate. The airline flight issue qualifies for a waiver.
  13. The passenger does not get the fine - if any - the cruise line handles it. Princess can also get a waiver. Not complicated. Just follow what Princess wants and it is THEIR responsibility.
  14. There is no agreement on if or how tips are pooled. Same answer for a butler. My opinion is having a complete meal served or a party would certainly merit a tip. Think of things that would not extra or specific to your needs or desires.
  15. First - Welcome to Cruise Critic. Two questions - Is the Columbus Health Department a government or a department of a hospital. If a government agency good so far. The second is where is the cruise? If a closed loop cruise from the USA a birth certificate is all that is REQUIRED. UNLESS - note the emphasis - he needs to disembark because of illness, injury or something else in a foreign country. In that situation he has a big problem in returning to the US. Getting a passport overseas with a birth certificate in order to return to the US / board an airplane is complicated and can take some time.
  16. If under 21 it is illegal to purchase or POSSESS alcoholic beverages. Think his point was it is really pretty much impossible to consume without possessing. That includes being illegal to have a blood alcohol above 0.0 if under 21. Some rude posting and personal attacks. Also do not believe a waiver would be on a US cruise to anyone under 21. As others said need proof on that one.
  17. Had Italian friends who were on a TA to a Italy. They had 4 suitcases and probably 30 boxes 2' square. They were going home. Stacked everything in their Oceanview cabin against the bulkhead. Was an amazing pile in the hallway. Heard no limit on baggage. It was true.
  18. Actually for insurance the local countries place age restrictions. For example anyone over 80 cannot volunteer in some places because no insurance if they fall. There are few companies that can handle the large number of passengers that cruise ships require. Sometimes several ships in port. In Astoria Oregon tour companies are required to be able to handle 200 people. That is at least 4 full sized busses and 8 employees. How many companies can do that for the very short cruise season in tiny Astoria. Having lived there the answer is one. Insurance is harder and harder to obtain.
  19. A 375ml bottle is not a double. It is about 12oz or 8 drinks. A drink is usually a mini bottle of about 50ml. Can you buy a larger bottle of liquor to be delivered to your cabin? Certainly, but definitely not with your beverage package.
  20. The ship since a holiday cruise is most likely very full. Cruise ship food is good - typical quality to an upscale local restaurant - but sadly seems to have declined a bit in both service and quality since covid. Be flexible and enjoy. Everyone's expectations and likes are different.
