  1. Reading and following instructions.. its hard...
  2. New, untapped market is Gen X, Millennials and soon Gen Z. AsiaPac is also high on my list. Older Western Europeans/Americans are not high on my list. I'm going to build the biggest ships I can, with apps, VR, funky clubs etc.. and park them in the Caribbean market. Don't get me wrong.. I'm younger than most on here, but I'm an old soul with cruising and prefer formal nights, traditional shows, and sitting at big tables with people I don't know. However, when looking at this thru the lens of a sharehold or CEO, I want new, young cruisers with disposable income. source: CLIA 67% of cruises are 4-7 day Caribbean cruises source: CLIA
  3. True.. it is a lot of money. However, if you were CEO of a cruise line and you had these data points, what market are you targeting? 🙂
  4. mm.. ok. Not that big... Data matters... https://www.statista.com/statistics/287111/cruise-passengers-by-source-country/ For those that can't see the linked data; this is 2021..US passengers was more than 50% of the market in 2019 and previous years.
  5. This exactly. The 60+ demographic that cruises...is going to cruise no matter what. The stamping of feet and dissatisfied posts don't translate realistically into loss of revenue. Revenue per passenger is higher in the millenium/gen x space and they are the target.
  6. Primary revenue is approx 70% based on ticket fares. Secondary spend is about 30% and based on alcohol, shop items, WIFI, restaurants, casino, travel insurance & expensive excursions. Secondary spend is higher amongst younger, family oriented & newer cruisers. 5, and 7 day cruises to the Caribbean tend to be far more profitable (hence why there are so many) because of the additional 'revenue per passenger' that secondary spend brings. Not to say that a 28 day cruises isn't profitable, but the 'revenue per passenger' is lower. Addnl. spend is the lions share of profits. In the hotel industry that I work in, its called REVPAR. For cruise lines, its 'revenue per passenger' that is important. Younger people frankly, spend more after the initial fare sale than 'seasoned cruisers'. https://www.jeremykisner.com/cruise-ship-industry/ https://thehustle.co/the-economics-of-cruise-ships/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7519395 (section 2.2)
  7. There are many that live in permanent crisis mode and can't be helped. They tend to be the more vocal of the population......
  8. Have to agree. Was quite easy. Could it be more intuitive? probably. Is it a horrible app, not at all. I suspect that most of the problem lies between the phone, and the chair.
  9. This made me laugh... I'm with the guy that called it out for what it is. It is a wage subsidy straight up. To those saying its "taking income" from them, that is simply not true. They apply for a position, a salary is offered, and accepted. This doesn't change regardless of anyone's tipping policy. Tipping is addnl. above the salary they agreed upon. No one is 'taking income' from anyone. Good attempt at virtue signaling however. This isn't a post about whether or not the salaries are fair and equitable for the work and time performed.
  10. We find it just as easy to download any shows to our surface pro (2lbs), along with an installed Roku and FUBOTv app and pair it with a Samsung Freestyle projector. We've used this setup to preload movies/tv and stream hockey/NFL games when the shipboard internet is working well. Super lightweight and easy to transport.
  11. Your contribution only shows demarcs and terrestrial network links. It does not show 'coverage'. Most of the bands cover populated areas (because common sense).
  12. This is why.... One of several providers, but not much interest in satellite providers to provide service to the empty ocean. Just because its in space doesn't mean it provides coverage everywhere. Now take that little bit of signal and share among 4k people. Save your money. Use free wifi in ports.
  13. I use Marriott Homes & Villas when I go to Rome. Got a nice loft in Trastevere for the week. Use Romecabs for all transfers.
