  1. What has the soda package got to do with hot drinks ? Thread drift is one thing, but this is sailing in a totally different direction !
  2. Yes, we were in a cc minisuite for 14 days, and at the start of the second week we unfortunately got another half bottle of red and white !
  3. Thanks for the comprehensive answer. Unfortunately us Brits can only refare once (at a cost of £100) so trying to decide if the fare is as low as it will go is a bit of a challenge!
  4. I think that is a good point. People will always leave reviews about bad outcomes, but never about when the process goes smoothly. Trustpilot is useless if you want a balanced viewpoint. (And, to be fair, I'm not sure that there are any review sites that I would trust )
  5. Sorry to hear your news. Hopefully your symptoms will not be too bad. Your experience, plus those of other cruisers, seems to show that however careful you might be, covid will still get you. You might as well not bother with taking any precautions at all, as the end result will be the same.
  6. If you book three seven day cruises as a b2b2b2b instead of a single 21 day cruise, do you get three lots of shareholder obc, which would equate to more than you get if booking a single cruise.
  7. Personally I was always in favour of testing at the port, but accept that logistically it caused problems, plus the emotional impact on those that tested positive. Testing three days prior to embarkation is really just theatre. P&O are now using a trust system, asking people to test themselves, and declare if they are positive. In reality it means that testing is now finished as far as P&O are concerned.
  8. Pleased for you. Are both the specialty restaurants now open ?
  9. So, a positive result stays positive, but a negative result will turn positive. Basically therefore, no one can show a negative result after 24 hours. As Dave says, there could be some arguments at the port !
  10. I thought the test result was only valid shortly after the test was taken. Showing it 24 hours later is meaningless.
  11. Interestingly, in the UK, the cruise you are on is sold as a single 21 day cruise, not a b2b2b !
  12. I must have missed the last two weeks, because it never reached much over 80, let alone 90 up here in the North, apart from Monday and Tuesday. And yesterday, the temperature never went over 72! I don't consider that to be a heatwave.
  13. I bet they will stop that requirement by the end of the month.
  14. Which is now being done. No negative tests required. What are you arguing about ?
  15. They cannot be turned away, because P&O do not ask which tests were used.
  16. As a matter of interest, the last comnents on this thread are worth reading, not only to those of us who own shares, but also to those thinking about future bookings. CCL are being sucked into a whirlpool of debt. https://boards.cruisecritic.co.uk/topic/2862809-heres-a-scarey-headline-for-ccl-stockholders-carnival-stock-could-fall-to-0-in-a-worst-case-scenario/page/10/#comment-63607341
  17. Yes, I agree. My apologies for being snippy ! I do think that Princess have made a rod for their own back, by not clearly differentiating between the physical Medallion (hardwear) and Medallion app (software). Hence the confusion from the OP, and indeed from hundreds of other cruisers, judging by comments on here and other sites.
  18. Great decision. Lots of shops to explore in the terminal, and lots of drinking as well ! Plus a chance to have a shower and freshen up.
  19. All I would say, is that when we first started crusing we felt that smaller might be better. And then we discovered that smaller means less choice, and actually, less intimate bars restaurants etc. But, if you go on a larger ship, you get more bars and restaurants, and actually get a more intimate service as a result. So yes, 2000 passengers sounds great, but if there are only 4 bars, they will be crowded. Conversely, we were on Regal Princess (3000+pax) but so many bars that it was never crowded. Consequently in Vines, the wine bar, after two nights, the waiters knew our names and also what our favourite wine was. Plus, lots of space, and not crowded. Obviously your choice, but 7 or 14 days on a small ship is not always as good as it seems. Having said that, the likes of the 5000+ ships are a no go for me. Book Regal Princess in November - you will not be disappointed.
  20. To be clear, the Medallion is the equivalent if a key card. Booking a restaurant has absolutely nothing to do with the Medallion,
  21. I have no real opinion on this, but do you think that passengers with Covid on a cruise should be quarantined?
  22. Well, in the UK that has already happened. There is no wholesale testing of people. And no wholesale in virtually every European country either. What are you talking about ?
  23. That proves nothing. You can be negative when you test yourself on Thursday, but positive on the Saturday when you embark. How does that keep people honest?
  24. Given where Ken found it, I wonder if it had been there for a year or two ! We didn't get one on our cc minisuite 8 weeks ago !
