  1. These aren't from Players Club. I get (and book) these kind of casino offers, too, and have never dropped a penny in a Carnival (or any ship) casino. Well, not quite true - went to casino on my first Carnival cruise in 1993, but I don't think that's where the offers come from. The offers I get do not include Freeplay or drinks - they include OBC that covers the port fees and taxes as @john91498 mentioned. Sometimes they have extra OBC so that after getting the room free and covering port fees and taxes, I can actually cover grats and possibly even some specialty dining and excursions.
  2. Even though it allowed me to purchase for just 1 guest, is it better to add the other one too so that the cabin is plying by the rules of every drining age pax having it? If they honor the price, would they cancel it anyway because not everyone got Cheers? Other pax doesn't drink alcohol or coffee and is a Coke person, not Pepsi, so she really won't use it. But I'd rather her have it if it means I can keep mine. Sure don't want to pay full price for something she won't use and would not buy it at full price. Any idea if they'd give us the option to pay the difference before automatically charging it if/when they catch it?
  3. Yes, just go to the Shore Ex desk as soon as you get onboard and ask them to move them to OBC. They will cancel the excursions and rebook using OBC. You'll see the canceled excursions credited as OBC then at end of cruise if you haven't used it, it will be refunded to your CC. It's important you have ShorexEx do it rather than trying to do it yourself because they can secure your spot on the sold out excursions but you cannot. It's also important you do it before the excursions as they won't do it after the excursions have taken place. Guest Services cannot do this - it has to be the Shore Ex desk. Congrats on the "new" booking! Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  4. Please let us know after you talk w/them. My PVP never tells me anything:(
  5. https://www.hollandamerica.com/en/us/cruise-deals/community-appreciation-cruise-offers/aarp-member-benefit-offer# Scroll down to the orange "verify your AARP membership" box, click it and follow the promots. You do need to already be registered w/AARP before you do it.
  6. @fsufancc if that $50 was not showing as non-refundable, they could have gotten it issued onto their credit card so they didn't have to spend it.
  7. My sister stayed in the equivalent of IQ10053 on N Amsterdam and had no issues w/a "slammy" pool deck door. She is overly sensitive to noise and banging (she will come across the room at you if your music has heavy bass) and had zero problems. I would strongly consider the VQ cabins in that area, maybe you want to look closer to the elevators if you think the pool deck door would be an issue. Just stay aft of the elevators as the spa is open I think until 10pm so you'll potentially have noise from elevator traffic until then. So, the farther aft of the elevators you are (so closer to the cabins you circled in red) the less spa traffic you will have in general. My sister had very little traffic, I don’t think many people went to the pool from that hallway and she had zero complaints about pool noise. I like the convenience of being near the spa and the Crow's Nest. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  8. As the terms clearly state AARP membership is to be verified/reconfirmed every year, I would not be surprised if 2025 cruises (and possibly EOY 2024) we're asked to resubmit membership verification to maintain the OBC that had been posted. Hope not, but wouldn't be surprised. I didn't submit anything over a year out, just as I don't for Shareholder just to minimize the chance of having to resubmit.
  9. I have not received any cruise related communication from outside the Carnival family except for the 1 line I explored pricing with. So, it does not appear as if CCL has sold my info.
  10. You can buy per day; the cost depends on which level you get. If these rates are still current, daily rates are $14.99, $24.99 and $29.99. Looks like for email, you would need the $24.99/day plan. Safe travels - enjoy your cruise!
  11. Yes, AARP OBC is stackable w/Shareholder OBC and also Military OBC.
  12. I know this is a Carnival thread and a bit off topic, but congrats on the anniversary & welcome back to HAL - safe travels, enjoy your cruise!
  13. I hear ya on the vow renewal - you wanna make sure it's gonna stick before committing again, don't want to rush into it, lol. If you figure out how to get your Carnival to transfer, let me know and I'll bring over my Carnival and Princess!! Get 'em all on each line, I say!!
  14. Absolutely and get shareholder OBC, too!! And military OBC, if eligible. HAL has a very nice vow renewal package that would be lovely for your 35th. We did it for our 30th.
  15. There's plenty of room on the Dark Side, aka HAL, for everyone - come on over!! Gotta say, does an ego good to be the "young 'uns" on the ship, lol.
  16. The "thatch roof huts" are cash only; all the other places do take your S&S card, but they hand write receipts which are later entered into the system. So there's no way for your drink package to be tracked while at HMC.
  17. So what happens when cabin mates don't travel together as they're coming from different places, flying in on different flights? We've done that - one person flies in from west coast, checks in and boards and doesn't see the other person (who flew in from east coast) until we finally run into each other in the cabin. Didn't fly together, didn't check in together, didn't board together. Is that no longer allowed?
  18. Oh for sure have her do this at HMC - the girls (trainers) do a great job of encouraging interaction and are very knowledgeable so she can ask them probably anything. It's a very good learning environment as well as fun - not to mention pretty. Remember to pack your underwear camera so she can snap some memories. Excited for you!
  19. Thank you all for the well wishes and kind words. I did get an exercise plan today; it doesn't seem very aggressive, but we'll see how it goes. I have high hopes and am highly motivated; I surely don't plan on this taking years as PCP said it could. Thanks for the tip @bennybear I will try the poles. @Live4cruises sorry to hear about your DHs fall - sending positive thoughts that way. Too hot to be outdoors - my car thinks it's 122!! The tire can stay low until temp drops to double digits...
  20. Very interested in your feedback on the ports and excursions. We are B2B next month for Canada New England and very curious about weather and potential for Fall Foliage Peep Shows as well as things to do in port. So pretty up there.
  21. Hi - respectfully requesting to be added to the Care List (or where ever is appropriate) - after 8 long weeks waiting for an appointment, I have evaluation today to establish pre-surgery (torn muscles/tendons/ligaments) treatment plan for frozen shoulder. Surgeon says the surgery is required, but can't be done until the shoulder has full range of motion. Determined to do whatever it takes to not miss upcoming cruises in Sept, Oct, Nov & Dec. Oh my, I have a busy year end...
  22. Happy to hear you had a positive experience w/laundry service - they do such a good job with it.
  23. You can also use it to buy gift cards which you can use later on. Good option so you don't feel compelled to spend it - doesn't have to be "use it or lose it "
