  1. Learned this today, disappointed
  2. I would post to the role call that you are a solo who is interested. There may be another solo who is reluctant to step up.
  3. I am very aware of this, Delta code shares with Virgin, which would never be my first choice. Virgin, I find very overrated and usually sub-standard in service. I will give a little more time for this issue to settle down and check again closer to the new year. I left BA when their prices and service did not keep up and switched to Delta.
  4. I am an independent traveler and my preferred airline ( am a platinum member) just dropped a non-stop route to London. I am now coming home from cruise from London via Salt Lake City. I am challenged why Salt Lake has a NS to London and Seattle does not. The airlines did a lot of schedule adjusting last year at this time. If there is another change I will likely ask to be moved to the code share flight which is still NS. I have one flight scheduled for the end of the month and am waiting for the shoe to drop on time changes
  5. The underground train is simple and you should have no issues with finding your way to the coach stops. I hope your further journey goes better
  6. I use Lyft and know that the drivers work around the clock. With so many airline flights leaving at 6am, they do a brisk airport business. I once was easily able to get a car at 345 in Cincinnati As mentioned, you can pre-book a car, which will give you peace of mind.
  7. I like my Capitol One VISA for its excellent international fraud protection alone. Great human one on one service when things go sideways. It is easy to build points and use their travel debt eraser to wipe expenses off your bill.
  8. For the experienced horseperson, like myself, a drive by stop on a tour would not satisfy. I would want to watch, in silence a 1 hour+ training session. Most people would get little out of such a thing, just seeing pretty horses go round and round. Madmedic I hope it works out for you.
  9. if you have the time and the ability , the train is a great choice. Sit on left side northbound and right on southbound. I love a train ride you are correct about the hotel prices but a large international urban hub city is different from Galveston. If you are willing/ able/ comfortable to use public transit to get around you can likely fine a more economical hotel choice outside to Canada Place downtown core. Check out places at English Bay just west of the downtown core
  10. LOL "Id like to have an argument , please" Like asking about the Best BBQ or the Best Pizza @Harters thanks for the recommend!!! I like Golden Chippy on Greenwich High Rd, so outside the OPs destination boundary. They also make some amazing fried chicken ( another loaded argument) My experience level, however, is on the low side so I will defer to Harters. I do agree, however, that the average pub produces sub-optimal dining experience
  11. I would be ALL over this opportunity! take a look at the Rome2Rio app It shows the bus route to the Stud. However it also shows the time spend and schedule. A taxi would be a more reasonable use of your precious time, particularly if you wished to make it there for a specific time, such as a schooling session or stable tour HOPIN mobile app may be useful for cab hire
  12. I would take my usually around home outdoor clothes plus a tech fabric base layer ; top and bottom. Im from Seattle and your weather will be more likely wet than truly cold. I am planning this trip in reverse, a week in Kyoto and a TransP to return to Vancouver in April
  13. pull on rain / wind pants and jacket are a must have for the traveler that enjoys outdoors. It gives you a lot more flexibility to combine or not. I would choose technical fabric base layer under nylon hikers with a wind/ rain pant over. I can remove the outer layer if not needed . Heavier insulated storm pants may be overkill. Only you can know that your tolerance levels are. I am from a cool maritime climate and it has to be down in the freezing levels to really think abut donning anything labeled "insulated"
  14. you do have to take care with plants and flowers, even cut from the market. They can still carry plant pathogens and insects which is what Agriculture Inspection at international borders is for. Restrictions coming into and off an island like Madeira are likely to be more strict than a mainland cosmopolitan area like A'dam. I am sure coming IN to A'dam they would be very strict with organic disposal given the international importance of the Netherlands flower industry The OP is probably best to address this question to the ship company. They are the ones in charge of biosecurity for the different countries they call at
  15. I plan to book direct as well either the Arctic train itself or the regular line service on the same route. My current itinerary shows , however, an exceedingly short stay in Narvik. I am hoping someone accidentally typed PM when they mean AM
  16. Assuming you are staying on the north side of the river, I would take the Elizabeth Line to Farringdon or Bank and transfer to the Underground or DLR line that is closest to your hotel. On a saturday morning the trains will be quieter and the Elizabeth Line is comfortable and will get you to the east side of the city quickly.
  17. Does the passenger hall at Tilbury have public WiFi?
  18. A would be all over Asean StrEAT food court but the OP specified GF ( challenging when soy sauce is in a recipe) and the menu at Adaluca is excellent and broadly GF.
  19. I am sure whatever topics you choose, when presented well will be of interest I am always delighted, when in London, to see how historic parts of buildings are sensitively incorporated into newer and harmonious construction. I am also appreciative when a historic style is incorporated and respected in newer design I would find discussion about this concept to be helpful and enlightening
  20. I would not leave the bags on the belt and trust that they will be picked up and cared for by the airline. The perfect situation for them to make there way out of the airport with the wrong person. If it is any help Alaska has an excellent reputation for fast baggage delivery. You could be on your way to your hotel quickly
  21. That would require going back through security, by that time, you could be at your hotel. I am not sure you could actually do that . All of the restaurants are in the departure side of security. There might be a coffee stand, but really nothing that meets your needs.
  22. There really isnt anything in the terminal after baggage claim / before security . You could go to Saltys ( not sure about gluten free) but it is in departures which puts your bags at risk. You are staying at a hotel with one of the great restaurants in Downtown. They have an excellent and extensive GF menu.
  23. Friday is called "Friday Lite" around the traffic circles here in Seattle Metro. But personally I would drive up a day early. I just dont think the stress factor is worth it. drive time, border time, park and transit in from the airport. A hotel room sooths that stress away
