  1. Breakfast and lunch are not formal affairs. People are out and about. You don’t run back to your cabin to change for lunch partly because you’ll probably be going from lunch to fun activity. You dress for dinner. As I pointed out I would only wear jeans to dinner if it was a picnic type of situation. I tried to make it clear in my post that these were my personal feelings.
  2. What makes you think Queen Anne will be going to Alaska?
  3. My son ranted yesterday about turkey, I invited him to bring something else to eat today. But, for me, the turkey is just there to compliment the mashed potatoes, enhance the gravy, allow cranberry sauce to be used, and support the dressing. Happy Thanks Giving Host Hattie!
  4. Anyone want to make a guess how many more posts we’ll have before HH has to shut us down? 🙂
  5. I would wear jeans to the QG grill for breakfast or lunch with a nice sweater. I would not feel comfortable wearing jeans of any kind to dinner unless I’m sitting outside at a picnic table. Jeans do not equal “slovenly.” I personally don’t wear a t-shirt unless doing really messy cooking or gardening.
  6. Who’s got the turkey in the oven? It’s 1:00pm on the east coast. That could mean dinner at 5:00 if it’s a big bird.
  7. @D&N We’re in the process of packing. 1 Tux, 2 Suits, and all of the accoutrements. 2 Formal dresses, lots of other nice wear for dinners. I can’t get it into a regular size case. This weekend I’m going to unpack and put it into a larger suitcase. This will go through luggage forward to the ship, but we will try to get it home along with 4 other pieces of luggage from NY to home. We would probably be ok if my shoulder wasn’t so messed up. Flying to cruise IS an issue partly because we spend days ahead of the cruise that involves not only dress for day but also for nice dinners out.
  8. Tomorrow will be busy with the turkey to brine, dishes to be pulled and labeled for their purpose, and due to a future rotator cuff surgery for myself, there will be a shuffle of furniture in anticipation of sleeping in a recliner when we return from our Ta, and the tree in a new position for the grand boys. Sending out good wishes to all of you, my CC friends, for a happy holidays. Everyone be safe and find happiness in those you share time with.
  9. @Tonopah I’m sorry to hear your sad news. Shakespeare reminds us that troubles come in 3’s. You have yours and things will improve. I hope family will be able to surround you with love.
  10. I wish Cunard would be clearer. It would solve all of these issues. We were in a nice restaurant last week and a man walked in wearing a t-shirt and a baseball hat. The t-shirt belonged in the garden and the hat should have been removed IMHO. I had to ignore it.
  11. Why not call these actions as they are: Arrival time (time you should get to the pier), Boarding time (time you will walk the plank), Embarkation time (time we plan to raise the anchor and throw the lines).
  12. @Bigmike911 Sad to hear you may have to cancel another cruise. Have you considered heading to my neck of the woods? Look into the Columbia River cruises. I’ve never done one, but I hear they are nice.
  13. We used flyer miles for business on BA. But we paid dearly to ensure we got the seats we wanted. We did not go through Cunard because I thought it would cost more and new the rule about not being assigned seats until full payment. I’ve only flown BA twice and I haven’t had a bad experience.
  14. Our electric kettle is far faster, so more energy efficient than our gas range, and sets the correct temperature for the tea we are drinking. I also cook lots, and the tea pot would get spattered and take up a burner. The coffee maker has been sent to the basement. Love my electric kettle.
  15. So glad I don’t have to do monitored. We will definitely test of course and I hope everyone else will too.
  16. CNN reporting covid outbreak of 800 on Princess ship, now docked Sydney. Wow!
  17. @safarigal We get off the QM2 as you board in New York. I think that is why we also have to do the proctored tests before boarding in Southampton.
  18. @D&N I’ve wondered about Carmel many times. It sounds like you’re doing everything possible to keep her happy. Thanks for updating us.
  19. I’m hoping the requirement will change for our Dec. 15 TA. I have 3 tabs open in my browser with different monitored providers. Popped out to check the website and the Dec. 15 still has additional requirements.
  20. @D&N I hope all is going well for both of you. I’ve been missing your posts!
  21. @D&N Could you comment on the OP’s question regarding gym weights?
  22. @Mareblu Thank you SO much for posting this information and the pictures. I’m looking forward to a warm weather cruise sitting on that Vista balcony with a cold drink in my hand.
  23. @Mareblu LA to LA. California ports. Since it’s our first Oceania we wanted a close port and short itinerary. It’s the Regatta, which also sails from Seattle to Alaska, but often gets mixed reviews. We have a Vista Suite and hope the food is as good as it sounds.
