  1. That darn auto correct! Sarsons, not Samson’s.
  2. My bad - it is Samson’s. So much better than what is available in the U.S. at most fish and chips joints.
  3. How about serving with some Larson’s Malt Vinegar?
  4. LOVE the Halifax Maritime Museum as well as walking the shoreline.
  5. Women need to determine make-up mirrors!!
  6. The “pass” is where food is deemed ready for serving. I am glad you sent the mussels back, but I’m concerned anytime food is served that isn’t to temperature. There is a lack of monitoring at the pass.
  7. We were 9052 on December TA and had no trouble with wifi.
  8. We did our first TA with Cunard on QM2 this past December in Queen’s Grill and loved it. We will do a second Cunard on QM2 in June/July. The food was really good and the room and service were great. In Queen’s Grill there was not a single man without a suit and 99% were in tux for the two gala nights. I, and most other women, wore long formals for gala and were dressed beautifully the other nights. The Masquerade night is not a costume night at all. My husband has worn suit and tie every day of his 40 year work life and it only seemed appropriate to dress as such when being served by white jacketed and gloved servers. I cannot speak to the quality of the food in the MDR. We have chosen to sail for the first time on Oceania this fall. We have avoided the Regatta for many years due to reviews, but will give it a go and hope for the best. I was glad to read that Riviera will sail to Alaska beginning in 2025 and hope it is out of Seattle.
  9. @roscoe39 I just keep shaking my head in amazement that a person walked into dinner, and I believe gala night, wearing torn jeans and an un-buttoned shirt over a vest. Too much alcohol? Thumbing his nose at the dress code? Testing to see if someone would stop him? I know what the code says…and I don’t want to pull this wonderful thread off topic, or it turn heated and have to be closed. I am disappointed the person was allowed into the dining room. Roscoe I SO love reading your blog and I hope your cat is weathering the storm in NZ. How many pairs of shoes did you take?
  10. Hangs from the shoulder, is light weight, and looks great in the evening as well. It is my go-to small travel purse and has served me for many many years.
  11. Such comments should not be made and show lack of empathy and class on the perpetrator. Given that, perhaps slower traffic should keep to the right. ( Yes, that’s a U.S. thing….)
  12. Anyone been in Vista Suite 6003 on the Regatta? (first time O cruiser) LA to LA in September 2023. Thanks.
  13. Love Queen’s Grill! Nice cabin, really good food. Sailing Cunard again this year. I hope the Regatta MDR is as good.
  14. We have just booked the Marriott Brooklyn Bridge for the Independence cruise this June/July. @BklynBoy8 I’ll be asking more questions after I recover from rotator cuff surgery and can type without pain.
  15. We take an early evening ferry, have dinner, and try to be one of the first cars onto the last ferry. There will be lights or the reflection of a beautiful sunset on the buildings.
  16. Bainbridge ferry so you return after dark. The city is beautiful.
  17. I agree with @Glaciers above. There tends to be confusion at the pick-up area due to a funnel effect of cars and vans. If you can take a pre-arranged shuttle I would do it. They have their own entrance to the pick-up area. We live close to term. 91 and I could have walked home faster than it took my husband to get to us.
  18. I wonder what is happening at LGB because we just found out Alaska Airlines is no longer flying there either.
  19. So glad to hear she is improving and you are able to take her off the meds. Good to hear from you!
  20. There are no faces just names and dates.
  21. We need one of those would cruisers to get in there and start digging threw the coasters! Maybe 1 cocktail at a time.
  22. If shipping is acceptable then look at Dillard’s. Huge on-line selection.
  23. On our TA our favorite bar tender became Herbert. He said there were 12, so that is my source. The ones I mention I have in use at home and hope to acquire the others in June. It is fun to grab one and remember the gentle rock of QM2. I just had surgery so I am working with one arm, so pictures have to wait. If you don’t know of these you clearly haven’t spent enough time at the Commodore Club. Cheers!
  24. I was told there are 12 drink coasters in the Commodore Club. Who are they? I have: Sir James Charles Sir Arthur Rostron Sir Edgar Britten Sir Cyril Illingworth Sir Ivan Thompson Gotta get ‘‘em all!
