  1. I was watching another aite for mariner this past week and I cant tell you how many threads I saw where can I get sea sick pills. Medical forward deck 1 does give them out free, but many newbies were sea sick. I'd choose mid ship my first cruise and see how it goes. Probably odds are she will be fine. But first cruise maybe dont take a chance and pay the difference if it's not a lot. I personally prefer toward the aft and dining room and buffet back there and easy access to pool deck. But mid ship the least motion.
  2. I got a email from royal just yesterday, saying 399 for july utopia. I went to look and lowest I see as a solo is over $900. I'm tired of prices from ... and it shows a gty which only on royal cant be booked. I can book any rate on carniva including gty. Why in the world doesnt royal allow solo to book a gty? I see lots of threads claiming false advertising. That solo is charged way over 200% and its true.
  3. Royal this past time they dropped itineraries never included a Bermuda cruise. I'd have to book another line to get there. They shifted to coco cay and more coco cay. I'm not looking for a beach so their itineraries didnt have a single new port other than a TA which I did book. Planning a stay in rome next year new to me but not one othe ne port. I saw someone posted back to me they dont cruise for free fast food. I dont like their free hamburgers. I dont eat hot dogs ever unless from a outside grill then I might have one. So their free hot dog place, I dont touch it. I'm now paying for pay restaurants to make royal work for me. I do cruise for the food and would like better choice of ports. People out of texas screaming for new ports so what did royal do, dropped some longer jewel cruises and only 1 of them has anything but the same old smal old. Same old western ports I've done 75 times. To me it's like royal said the ship is the vacation let's not bother with interesting ports. Moving to florida soon I hope. I'd already booked adventure eastern and ABC and this last drop was exactly more of what I'd already booked but not yet done. A poster here, forget their name put together a group on celebrity to do Bermuda. Maybe cruising is losing its allure for me. Fewer choices of ports, and higher prices, and same exact cruises I have booked already out of PC. I'm not one who cares about slides or beaches. I'm just not wanting to book more royal.
  4. I can see this. Get there and lock in the current perks. That's my plan. I want to lock in the free wifi before they decide to revamp the loyalty program. But I dont feel any forever loyalty to royal. I'm not a high end cruiser, I'm the one who also likes carnival and locked in their highest loyalty level in January on a 14 day journey cruise to unusual ports and love their journey cruises. I love fast food though I dont treat myself at home that much. A stark difference was no waiting for elevators like on royal. Quite a few no shows, it was a bad weather weekend and passports were required and some didnt know soon enough. Lovely to have such a quiet ship. Liked the bands better, more good ole country and 2 stepping. If carnival would give solo a discount like royal I'd book more carnival. Just wouldnt pay extra for them and those journey cruises are a bit pricey imo. I've never been loyal to royal though but right now for me prices are good enough to book.
  5. Lots are leaving royal too. There dont seem to be perfect cruiselines. But hey I also like carnivals fast food and service. I've wanted to try HAL, heard the food is better and wanted to try it myself.. .. just moving then later I'll look around. Up until now I've mostly done out of texas which was limited.
  6. I've had multiple issues on oasis class. 11th at a family 10 top being the worst, and they never fixed it. Changed my reservation for chops, didnt send me notice. Oasis I had a table, 2nd night went to izumi went back next night and they were really rude. A couple came in saying it was their table, they had sat there every night. Impossible. I said I know I sat here night 1. Got moved, again no notice. They used to send notice to your cabin. My table was close to the entrance and easier for someone in a wheelchair so they moved me. Fine, but why not send me a notice. I could go on, just keep having issues. The pax in the wheelchair were so rude to me. No reason, I sat down and ordered because my card said it was my table. How would i know i was changed. No one but rcl gives solos a discount. When I hit pinnacle and lock it down, I plan on looking around at other lines.
  7. If you are now taking up 2 seats per pax, that's inconvenient to others. If all took 2 seats in Mdr they wouldnt have enough. Common sense to me. Now they have your fixed seat reserved for you plus now you want a 2nd seat. I go to the Wj, never tried to be honest. I have had enough issues as a solo getting a assigned early seat. Whatever, I dont care, just think of everyone did this. MDR has enough issues without people now taking up 2 seats. I understand the comment.
  8. Looks regular sized pack n play. Full sized. It does fold up.
  9. Try mbayley@rccl.com... at least I get a reply. Idk where I will cruise with next. My best friends like american cruiselines. I think about $15000? They refuse to cruise with more than 100 onboard. I'm interested in the line @Ourusualbeach is on with all the seafood. Dont know if it's because of the itinerary or what. That's my favorite. Thinking holland american. Please get me moved lol.
  10. The problem being before the end these hc cabins are open for anyone to book. Even if they are or are not hc, no one knows as it's against the law for a cruiseline to ask what the disability is. I've dealt with a hc sister, I'm sure they cant ask.
  11. A lot of people do the JS, because of the bath tub and you get 1 extra loyalty pt. Trying to run up their loyalty pts they are willing to pay the extra. I've looked myself because of the extra loyalty pt, just couldnt justify it like you said.
  12. My 3 harmony cruises the cut off was high 1100s. Ship was new to texas so many that's why top heavy to get into suite lounge. One lady told me she missed the cut off by 1 point. Sorely disappointed. We had 3 weeks in a row I was on, had this all 3 weeks. Harmony booked next oct, maybe by then the pinnacles will be less. ..note this was out of texas where not many 7 day choices. And we did know ahead. Like I posted above you can click the link on your app where it says welcome aboard. Someone had clicked it and noticed it weeks before we boarded. They post it ahead of time.
  13. I've read the ala carte is per meal, you cant pick 2 for dinner for instance and do ala carte at both. So it may depend on ship. Biker first time I've read its per venue. Answers seem to vary.
  14. In the Mdr I just said this drink is a D+ drink and never had a issue with being charged, though usually I ask for a coke.
  15. I'm sure no worse than any other island and it's been more than 10 years but the week after we went there, there was a gang shooting on the road right where the taxi dropped us off. It's a local beach. For many years people avoided Megan's bay, now everyone has forgotten about that shoot out right there at Megan's bay. Just so happened to be right after I was there. That's the beach I mentioned, not by name as I wasnt sure about recommending it. For years and years people said dont go there. We took a taxi there, not with princess who I cruised with that time.
  16. Royal will tell you on the ticket where and when to meet, usually in the port. I did some general excursions I remember we went by the nude orient beach. . A lot go to st John's in st thomas. We did some thing where the tram goes up the mountain once. Another time a beach and also up to some sight seeing top of the mountain., scary to drive other side of the road on those mountains lol. We had some open trolley kind of transport.
  17. Royal does dynamic pricing. It varies according to the current sale. No set price to purchase ahead. Onboard is always more. Says bogo but it costs more than buying ahead. I always see bogo pricing onboard .. from some made up amount. If your cruise is 7 days generally night 2 and 6 are dress up if you want.
  18. Less walking than a larger ship. Some people find a elevator that makes noise or rust someplace and act like its the whole ship. It isnt a new ship but I booked it b2b dec 2024, xmas cruise. The one before went to eastern. These smaller ships can do ports the larger ships dont visit. Xmas I'm in grand bahamas. Been over 20 years since I've seen it. Didnt know it even went there, but it was xmas so I booked it and the eastern which has new port for me. DR.
  19. I did "the works" and had them take off the chilli. They scrambled eggs into potatoes and pepper and onions. My scrambled eggs werent cooked enough. If I go back I'm asking for well done scrambled eggs. Just a FYI.
  20. On harmony we saw if you click on the welcome aboard thing on your app, even before you board there is a lot of info. The last thing was where they posted only top 30 pinnacles got suite lounge, ck access etc. It's right above the buttons on the bottom of your app where info about your sailing is. Doesn't look like a link but it is.
  21. I posted similar and people all posted they had seen it. I saw it about a month ago. Sounds good to me.
  22. I'd read some of these threads about booking the vatican and Colosseum on your own. Maybe it's me but sounds hard. And to see faster or get into extra levels a extra fee. Not that easy to book on your own. I'd book a tour. ..or that's my plan.
  23. Actually it depends on which site you use. The site that starts with the word hotels ... I can see 14 months out to may 2025. That how I know they are asking $150 for esmeldo hotel or however it's spelled and I'm not within a year. Some hotels show further out some dont. Though I keep hearing only book direct. .. I can bundle air and hotel on another site I'm sure considering. But it's one like you said doesnt show until about 11 months out. Sure a good price.
  24. I would think this is cruiseline specific, not city specific. Carnival says cans only. Rcl says cans or bottles up to 17 oz and same terminal workers screen both. I remember when carnival changed to cans only. I think there were too many trying to smuggle and they just said no more. And also smaller coolers. People were getting crazy 10 years ago or whenever with ideas how to smuggle.
  25. Coins? Equal cabins? Didnt know you ever got those unusual cabins as group rates. Let me know as I love those.
